It would have been better if it actually was just a countdown to server crash.
Yeah that server crash actually seems like good times now. Ah nostalgia.

Thank you Bioware, I'm now gonna save a nice amount of money from not buying your games anymore. From now on, I'll either pirate your games, or buy them second-hand so you don't get money from me, ever again.
Ciao.
Piracy is not the answer for being excluded from a free contest. The clock was overboard in this marketing bazaar they are having, but pirating because of it is a bad excuse.

And what an awesome marketing manuver that everyone thought looked cool, enticing, and mysterious that would have been. Be reasonable here. That would have sounded stupid and people would have still complained.NebulaY wrote...
but they said "epic community event" and not "epic community event for us (-ny/fl) residents because we weighed legal issues costs"

Soon we'll be split up in different forums, one for each continent. Then all bioware games will be made in a special extra bad version for all non-americans, followed by non-americans frequently being banned just for being non-american. We'll called it BIOPARTHEID!

This is what I could find on the web
"In Florida and New York, games of chance with total prizes exceeding $5,000 must be registered and a bond must be posted. Once the winners are announced, a winners' list must be provided in order to release the bond.
For many Internet content sponsors, it is simpler to prohibit certain states' residents from participating in the contest than to comply with these extra, somewhat burdensome procedural requirements. This is the rationale behind the common limitation in many contest rules, 'void where prohibited,' or more specifically, 'void in Florida, New York and Rhode Island."
...oh well. I really don't my information to be in some database anyway just because I won a cup. I really wish people would stop whining about free stuff. you'd think this was the only US-only contest in the history of mankind

There have been Canadian only, US only, and European only contests before and people didn't get their panties in a bunch about it. This was marketed VERY badly, and there in lies the blame. There isn't anything wrong with the event itself.

The absolute irony is, when I click that link I get:-
'This video contains content from Vevo, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.'
We Europeans get nothing!
