No, people are upset beause they hyped something that turned out to be mostly nothing - and YES, putting a 5-day countdown timer on every main page on the site was HYPE. Also, the use of the word EPIC was the height of stupidity.
But I assume, as the rage continues, more and more people will miss that point (like you did), and try to make themselves feel superior by calling everybody "whiners"
I would just point out that roughly 25% of the applicable prize cost to Bioware is in PC related prizes. with 5 of them being customized. So not only can you be lucky to be exluded, but exluded from limited edition/offered items.
