Am I the only one that can see this for what it is? A giant red herring. And we fell for it. If we're upset about some gimmicky, worthless contest that we cannot participate in anyway, we're completely forgetting about the unplayable state of the game(s) (moreso Dragon Age than Mass Effect 2, unless the latest DLC broke something I'm not aware of).

This is what annoys me most about this whole thing to be honest. I need a working patch dang it!

And I need a working game, dammit! I've run into a gamebreaking bug that has been known since release! Close to 6 months and it's still not fixed, I haven't been able to play for 3 days! :pinched:

In a previous thread, a Bioware employee said point blank that patches/bug fixes are basically a favor that they grant to us, not an obligation.

In other words, you're out of luck.

Yeah, customer satisfaction at its best and fantastic PR to boot.

Guys, the countries and states that are excluded, I am fairly certain, are not participating due to their OWN laws regarding contests. No one at EA/BioWare decided that the only people that are a part of the community live in a mere 48 of the USA's states.

I mean the Warden's Quest event was not that long ago, and included teams made from all across the globe. In that case they did have control over it and consciously chose to include the entire world. That says a lot more than legal barriers on a single event..

Second time you post this, and as someon else brought up, The Origins prelaunch had no problem doing this, and as he said, and I agree with, I find it hard to believe that out of all the countries in the world who have people playing any BioWare game (this case DA or ME) can't join this due to laws. Surely some, but not every single one, including two states.

It's way too far fetched.

Ok dude you keep saying it isn't "US only" so I am going to assume english is not your native language.

See, ONLY citizens of the US can participate, making this a "US Only" contest.  The fact that not all people in the US can participate does not change the fact that the only people that CAN participate are US citizens.

To use another example, I can say that I eat only vegetables, but I don't eat carrots because I am allergic.  The fact that I don't eat carrots wouldn't stop me from eating only vegetables.

Describing this as a "US Only" event is accurate.

Because those people wouldn't be complaining exactly the way they are right now if it was advertised that way.

What in the hell does that have to do with calling it US only?  Do you have some kind of disease that prevents you from actually acknowledging  point and instead deliver deflective comment?

Because you're still looking at this as "memememememe." Saying it was US only would only have risen the ire of community members from New York and Florida. There was no way for them to win here, even if the way they did may not have been the best way to do it.

And if they had said that, it may have made it too easy to guess the kind of thing that was going on. That would have wrecked the fun for even more people involved.

Stop taking it personal. They didn't say to themselves "We don't like SlothOfDoom, so lets exclude his country."

You make no sense at all man...NO SENSE...look at what you are typing.

You have said multiple times that it isn't US only.....now you are backpedaling and saying that it is US only but they shouldn't say that it is?  Which is it?  make up your mind.

Would people from FLA and NY still be angy?  Sure.  IS it logical to say "Well, if two states are going to be angry lets just ****** OFF THE REST OF THE WORLD"?

This isn't about "mememe" this is about some idiot at bioware announcing an "Epic community event" on multiple international sites that cater to tens of thousands of people when only a small percentage of those people are actually affected.

Your failure to comprehend how jst plain STUPID that is is just another shining example of the failure of the American education system.

Cat, I do understand where you are coming from, but I think most of the people here are pissed because this was advertised as a BioWare Community Event, when it clearly turned out to exclude a large part of it. I'm fairly certain that this wasn't something new to them. They didn't woke up just 5 minutes before the launch and realised "Oh, crap! We forgot to specify something."

They probably had valid reasons not to include... the rest of the world really, but they should have been honest about the entire thing.

That may very well be; it's not like people think Ray and Greg had a meeting and decided what nations and states they didn't like enough to include.

However, they could have been up front with this from the start, before they put up their retrospectively pointless countdown, and certainly when they announced the event itself. Chris could have explained it in his opening post, and apologized to the community members excluded, and so on. There are just so many better ways that this could have been handled, and BioWare went with the worst, most blatant one, letting the fine print do the talking.

Almost as stupid as announcing an epic community event and only letting SOME citizens of the US to take part, and nobody else.

Call me naïve, but I hoped Bioware was a company that cared more about its fanbase than catchy slogans and viral marketing :(

Bioware was. Keyword 'was'.
Electronic Arts simply doesn't care for your nerdtears. :crying:

So can I count this towards the "I hate America" reason's or the "I hate EA and all of it's subsidiaries" reason's.

Both list's are starting to become very long.

Also, Bioware you forgot your FAIL after your EPIC community event.

Clearly there are legal barriers put into place all around the world, to prevent hazard, gambling, lotteries and all kinds of unchristian behaviour, especially if said song and dance comes from the great satan, Amerika.

Clearly.

Well first off, I'd be willing to bet cold hard cash that I'm smarter than you and that I could prove it. But that's a horse of a different color. Now that we've gotten the standard internet argument insults out of the way I'll get to the point.

If you want to talk semantics so bad then fine, it's "US-only." Except for New York and Florida.

Now, explain to those New York and Florida folks why they shouldn't be upset if it's announced as a US-only event.

Also, explain to the EA execs how they will get the same level of attention if it's announced as US-only.

Also, explain to me why half the people complaining right now wouldn't be complaining just as loudly if it had been announced as a US-only event becuase they still want to participate and are pissed that they can't even if they were told in advance.

Maybe they didn't do it the best way they could, but this was going to ****** people off no matter how they announced it, and I don't care because I still get to participate.

That made me chuckle ^^

Though, I'm quite sure you saw the logic in what I wrote, despite your puns (: And, I didn't say there weren't any legal barriers at all, just saying it's far fetched that it's the one reason no one else besides america and two of their states, can't participate.

HAHAHAHAHAHA epic announcement!! First Awakenings is a total overpriced flop, and now this stupid auction only 1/4 of the community can participate in??

If I wanted useless crap I would just log onto E-Bay. I'm officially done with Dragon Age, and Bioware in general.

You kidding? You won't see any sort of apology/explanation. Just silence. They know they screwed the pooch, and don't have the industrial-sized stones to face up to it.

We are just  wallets to them. Get used to it. They set up a nice social site so everyone can feel special, and then shovel s**t to us and expect everyone to feel grateful.
