I would ask that you do one thing though, keep the digs and insults pointed at the right party. The America digs are not really needed. One ignorant poster does not define an entire country.

true there is alot of reasons to hate countries like america but this isnt realy one of them keep ur anger aimed at the right people

lol this thread is is hilarious i think it should have been this that got the countdown not the bazaar especialy as it seems to involve more of the community

It's not so much as being excluded as being misled. A community event that only pertains to a certain portion of that community, isn't exactly 'epic' is it?

Sure I don't believe all the advertising I hear, but if I'm led to believe that as part of the community this will mean something to me why shouldn't I be disappointed this isn't the case?

I don't think BW or EA are evil, but they should understand we don't appreciate being hyped for a week for something many of us won't be able to participate in. They should have called it an American community event, at least there we'd have known what to expect.

Enjoy.

Well a New York and Florida one for the folks there would be nice. Oh and a "You can't fool me, I know this is Red herring!" one would be great

In a previous thread, a Bioware employee said point blank that patches/bug fixes are basically a favor that they grant to us, not an obligation.

In other words, you're out of luck.

Hah, yeah. Reminds me of when Christina (on the ME2 boards) openly stated that there were bugs they aren't going to fix "because it's a singleplayer game anyway".

Now that's dedication to excellence.

There is a difference between being excluded, and being mislead and then excluded. Personally, I couldn't give a **** about their marketing ploy prize giveaway and wouldn't participate if I could. What angers me (and many others if you took the time to read the posts here before spewing nonsense) is the fact that Bioware implied that this was to be a worldwide event (calling something a community event when your community is worldwide implies total inclusion).

Do you honestly believe that half of these people wouldn't complain just as hard, even if BioWare said "US-only," just out not being able to participate?

I know that myself and most of those on my friends list are actually reasonable.  If bioware had said "We are having a US only prize giveaway!  Click here!" most people I know would have said "Well, sucks that I can't participate, oh well" and gone on with their lives, including supporting  Bioware's right to hold whatever the hell kind of contests they want to.

But bioware didn't say that, they jumped up and down waving thier arms over heir heads and screamed "EVERYONE IN THE WORLD PAY ATTENTION TO ME!  I HAVE SOMETHING COOL FOR EVEYONE!" for a week before saying "Nah just kidding, **** you everyone I was just talking to these guys over here"

Has anyone from Bioware posted an explanation or apology yet?

You kidding? You won't see any sort of apology/explanation. Just silence. They know they screwed the pooch, and don't have the industrial-sized stones to face up to it.

We are just  wallets to them. Get used to it. They set up a nice social site so everyone can feel special, and then shovel s**t to us and expect everyone to feel grateful.

When/if they release a statement/explanation for this.. Boy, are you gonna look ridiculous ;o

They haven't been in a hurry to explain how the F**ked up Patch 1.03

But keep smooching the corporate rectal orifice. you might even get some tokens. Woweee!

I love how quickly this announcement has given way to the usual US-bashing tripe.

FWIW, guys, I agree with you-- it's pretty messed up that they'd exclude everyone outside the US (and some of the people inside the US). But do you really have to insult a whole country just to prove your point against an individual member of said country?

And regardless of how BioWare has handled the situation (badly, so far, yes), let's get some grounding in reality. This is a free giveaway. You have no entitlement to any of these things. You have lost nothing merely by being ineligible to participate in this free giveaway.

Hehe, yes, i's quite silly, especially for everyone else. Though, blaming BioWare and saying they're only intereted in our wallets, at least the BioWare team in charge of DA/ME - It's just as silly in my opinion. EA on the other hand, I don't think they care at all for customer satisfaction after they've received our money.

How is it far fetched to think that a very
weird points system/auction contest that is not how most giveaways are
handled at all would end up being in contradiction to lots of countries
laws? That is a really odd viewpoint to me.

Think you misunderstood, of course there will be some conflict with laws, but
according to international trading law can't be the sole reason that
every single country out there, apart from US can't participate, but
lets say it is.. Why can't New York and Florica participate, are they
not in the same country?  Isn't a New Yorkers passport as legit as someone from Washington?

Such things are state laws as opposed to international laws in our country. So, while a passport is from the national gov't the laws regarding contests are decided on the state level. So different states have different rules. I know that even American companies, when they have sweepstakes (think like those near constant ones candy bar companies and soda companies are always running) if you read the info Florida is often excluded for whatever reason. So, I don't find that so surprising, no idea on the NY tho. *shrugs*

yeah but a lot more people would be on "your" side too, instead of the what...four people?   Again it comes down to not angering and alienating people unnecessarily.

The people in the wrong are the people crying over not being able to participate ina contest because theya re greedy and want 'free' stuff and are now mad because BIO are 'greedy' and are their bossom buddies. Ha.

Some of us are quite eligible for this contest, yet choose not to participate because (a) solidarity with our excluded brethren, (B) it's a bloody waste of social networking coupled with the embarrassing spam-fest that are the referral links of yester-web, © just plain lazy, or (d) all of the above.

At least the capitulants are easy to track, what with their constant tweeting to @biofeed and/or their incessant panhandling for referral clicks.

It could be worse.  A few years back, they may have had the brilliant idea to do all this in Second Life.  *shudder*

Of course they would have, but I'll bet the number of people would have been smaller and the level of outrage kept to a minimum. Don't discount the power of hype and in my view they've just abused it. Hype loses it's power to entice people after you've pissed them off with it, see: Vanguard Saga of Heroes.

Fair enough, as mentioned earlier, I sadly have no real knowledge of international and much less American state trading laws work. Think we can just agree, that they've miss-lead the community, disappointing with the lack of explanations, and at least my own personal opinion, EA blows.
