Hi, @Varenus

:-) The Flag from Germany is Black ,Red and Gold^^

Thank you much

Yes, I have also heard this persistant rumor and numerous times have been requested to acknowledge the existance of some state called the BRD, but I just scoff at such notions.

:P

Yes.  Or are you just fomenting discord for the sake of discord?  I was under the impression that the majority of the "I was once part of the community" crowd are impassioned because they want to support Bioware and simply would like some reciprocation.

:D Look at his signature.

Good point.  I suppose one can protest sending any money Bioware's way if they feel that way about their games.  His response was just ill-positioned beneath the mention of piracy. ^_^

Nah they will lock it at about 30 pages and call it "spam".

Oh well I'll still enjoy Bioware games in the future, they just won't be profiting from it.

don't pirate. the guys at bioware still deserve money for their work.

Hahaha. No.

Theres absolutely no sensible reason for it to be ok to play a game and not pay the creators for their hard work. If you are so adamant about bioware not making any money from you, then don't play their products.

*sigh* why am i even trying?

Sadly, people will always pirate, enjoy the hard work without giving the creators the credit and 'reward' they deserve. Not much you can do about it, it will never disappear. Real fans will always buy/preorder, and most people who pirate will buy their own copy if they enjoy the product.

How about we make a deal? When I actually get to play the games without them crashing at least once every hour on average and a variety of minor and major bugs, get some actual support, and feel treated like a customer equal to all other customers, I'll start paying again?

Or hell, just fix the part of the game that is currently preventing me from advancing.

Deal?

I have to say, even though I live in California and can participate, this is bull**** to the degree that I will not.

Bioware/EA took something that could have been a really cool event and managed to alienate a huge portion of the community. Well done.

Bioware should have stated that it was a US only event upfront. It should have also stated that it excluded the states of Florida and New York. They should have stated the legal reasons for the decision.

But most forum members still would have been upset. Members would still be asking why their country or state could not be included. Members still would not have accepted the "for legal reasons argument". Yes, the international trade laws and some state laws are very screwy.

The countdown timer is just pure marketing hype. It should have come with a disclaimer.

But Bioware is not the first company that has excluded states or countries because of legal ramifications. Bioware/EA is not the first company to run contests that other countries could not participate in.

Read the fine print of many of the contests you get in the mail, online or ran by some of the big companies (Apple, P & G come to mind). It tells you which states and countries are excluded. It has very little to do with them not wanting to have every country participate. The more people and countries that participate the better it would be for EA/Bioware.

But if the costs of doing the Bazaar or contests in those countries or states exceeds the benefits, it is a non starter. If the company is going to get into legal difficulties, it is a non-starter. It it fair? No! Is it reality? Yes!

Yes, EA is an international company, but they have to abide by the trade laws. Most countries (not all) follow somewhat similar trade laws. But that is the problem somewhat similar. The devil is always in the details.

Someone at Bioware probably thought it was a good idea. Bioware probably thought it could surmount all the legal challenges and EA's legal department had to bring them back to earth.

Question for the community, Would it have been better for them to junk the whole idea?

Those banners are sublime.  You just need to add "…just a New Yorker", "…just Floridian", and then, for those certain few, "…just selling my soul for tokens." B)

It's going to be your countries own laws regarding such competitions as this that exclude it, not some jerk sitting at a desk in EA/BioWare who decided they only like 48 of the 50 states of the USA

That would actually be incorrect Cat :) The only logistical issue is import fee's for items (which bioware could say is your problem)...

This is corporate BS....by the best in the business...EA.

And...EA is an international company...they should know better than to pull something like this.   Their bazaar is set up to collect MORE customers, not less..so why exclude almost the whole world in favour of a few American states?  lol

Backwards thinking.

You guys do not honstly believe that BioWare/EA has mad ethis decision based on the countries and states that they don't like?

No I believe that EA is entirely responsible for this, and that Bioware has to follow along like the good little "employee" they are.

EA isn't playing to the masses, evidently.   They think those 48 states are where all their income comes from retail game box-wise.

Its more tunnel vision than anything else.   Excluding Canada  for their 'bizarre bazaar" ...I have never seen that before in all my years of online gaming.

Who came up with this jack-assery?

Heh, Bioware divides it's fanbase into (some) Americans who get access to the cool stuff and the unwashed masses who get herded into the alienage.

Yes, it would have been the best solution.  They could've even made that decision their "epic community event"—that they decided to put the community as a whole ahead of any bizarre marketing gimmick, and thus canned the idea at the last minute and would try to come up with something to give the community as a global whole.

EDIT: Ooh, I made a pun!  I should've spelled it "bazaar marketing gimmick".  :P

Bah, you. I've been an avid supporter of Bioware for 12 years or more. I've got collector's editions of everything I -can- have a collector's edition of.

I'm tired of getting shafted, no support, no patches, issue upon issue, crashes, aloof developers pretending they're the most important thing since sliced bread, glued-on DLC, pre-order schemes, marketing frauds, corporate propaganda, and most of all, not actually seeing any committment to excellence for the past few years.

I'm just tired of it all. I'm tired of being the abused girlfriend in this relationship.

Yes.

Most of us were just expecting a site revamp, something smaller but that would have been for everyone. New avatars and selectable forum skins, a flash game like dragon age, a contest for in game codes of some sort, a contest for forum titles, a portrait of you as Sheppard!! Man there's so many things they could have done on a smaller scale that would have gone over better.

It's not so much as being excluded as being misled. A community event that only pertains to a certain portion of that community, isn't exactly 'epic' is it?

Sure I don't believe all the advertising I hear, but if I'm led to believe that as part of the community this will mean something to me why shouldn't I be disappointed this isn't the case?

I don't think BW or EA are evil, but they should understand we don't appreciate being hyped for a week for something many of us won't be able to participate in. They should have called it an American community event, at least there we'd have known what to expect.

Exactly. Let's not forget about a HUGE clock countdown that the GAMING community has following for days, someof us hoping that it would bring us new of something EPIC related to GAMES. An Epic DLC, Expansion, Sequel. I really don't care for toy soldiers and stuff like that. Game for me is what I can play in my PC. I love BW's games since BG and their waste of time and effort to make this Epic thing into a total failure for the largest part of the GAMING community, is disappointed.

5 months waiting for some bugs to be erradicated, terminated, anihilated and nothing. But a bazaar they're pretty fast to make happen? And what about the server crash at 0:00:00:00 ? Shouldn't they be prepared for some huge traffic? They invited their whole community to the party but when we came, the ballroom is too small to handle all the people and only US residents got their name in the guest list? So, why invite us at all? And for a party that is not starred by major artists, like DA or ME actual game stuff. But by some secondary band that most of us haven't heard about, do not care about and was sold to us as an Epic band.

I came to a Led Zeppelin concert and found it was "Repolho Nervoso" (or Nervous Cabbage) playing. have you heard of them? Me neither! And I can't get into the concert because my name is not in the list. Ok, I don't want to get into that anyway. I want to know why was I invited and spent 6 days in a queue to be barred at the door.

You do realize it isn't BioWare's fault that they had to knock off some states, countries and provinces, right?

But seriously, stop the complaining.
BioWare didn't randomly decide; "Oh hey! Let's NOT include this state, and that province and those countries for the hell of it! Yeah, great idea!"

Listen to yourselves.

Look I'd support Bioware if the exclusion only applied to the people who have elven toons but this is just bizarre.
