It would have been a great event if it was open to worldwide participation. But now, most of the community gets excluded from the so-called "community event". :(

Look I'd support Bioware if the exclusion only applied to the people who have elven toons but this is just bizarre.

You do realize it isn't BioWare's fault that they had to knock off some states, countries and provinces, right?

But seriously, stop the complaining.
BioWare didn't randomly decide; "Oh hey! Let's NOT include this state, and that province and those countries for the hell of it! Yeah, great idea!"

Listen to yourselves.

Listen to yourself not bothering to either a) read the thread, or B) comprehend the actual reasons for people's complaints.

Hi, @Varenus

:-) The Flag from Germany is Black ,Red and Gold^^

Thank you much

Yes, I have also heard this persistant rumor and numerous times have been requested to acknowledge the existance of some state called the BRD, but I just scoff at such notions.

:P

"Some states", "some provinces" and "some countries"?

Try "everything except 48 states". As have been said several times, some places are simply inhospitable to work with, or have bans on various forms of gambling or contests. But the entire world except 48 U.S. states?

Listen to yourself.

Sure it is, they could have easily restructured everything to comply with other States/Nations or have done something completely different that would have allowed for a much broader umbrella. Instead they decided this is what they wanted to do, as a consequence a large percent of their fanbase is excluded from this event.

As a Canadian resident and huge BioWare fan who is barred from participating, I feel the need to claim that this event is a major slap in the face.

Has anyone from Bioware posted an explanation or apology yet?

You kidding? You won't see any sort of apology/explanation. Just silence. They know they screwed the pooch, and don't have the industrial-sized stones to face up to it.

We are just  wallets to them. Get used to it. They set up a nice social site so everyone can feel special, and then shovel s**t to us and expect everyone to feel grateful.

When/if they release a statement/explanation for this.. Boy, are you gonna look ridiculous ;o

They haven't been in a hurry to explain how the F**ked up Patch 1.03

But keep smooching the corporate rectal orifice. you might even get some tokens. Woweee!

Hehe, yes, i's quite silly, especially for everyone else. Though, blaming BioWare and saying they're only intereted in our wallets, at least the BioWare team in charge of DA/ME - It's just as silly in my opinion. EA on the other hand, I don't think they care at all for customer satisfaction after they've received our money.

You really believe that Bioware is a complete and separate entity from EA? No connection between them?
As my pappy used to say, I got 40 acres of prime real estate for you just 100 miles east of Nova Scotia.

Of course I don't believe that BioWare is a complete separate entity from EA, I'm saying that the BioWare DA/ME groups are not the ones pulling the strings in regards to marketing, they have to do as EA's marketing/policy dictates them to.

So it has now been 5 hours since the fiasco began. No Bioware  response yet. Could it be they are trying to figure how to say " We f*cked up". I am sure that someone at Bioware is capable of using a keyboard and can figure out how to connect to this forum. Even  if they can't write a patch that doesn;t break things.

Of course they do as they are told. But by putting their ?Celebrate Bioware's 15th ...."  on it, they have to carry the can.

They will never reveal that, for three reasons.
  • That employee wants to live.
  • Slaves have to be sold.
  • If they keep him or her alive, they can create a marketing spectacle in Europe at a later date, where they pit him or her against european fans in a big mock Colosseum.

That would be a horrifying, borderline unholy combination of their Marketing and Legal departments.

was it really that NO ONE of bioware saw this coming?! did you all think we non-us (or ny, fl) residents would just go "oh..one week hype for this...aw well.."?!

Do you seriously think they didn't see all this coming? Do you really believe they didn't weight their options?

All this "I'M TAKING THIS PERSONALLY BECAUSE MY FEELINGS ARE HURT AND I WANT CONTEST PRIZES TOO" stuff is nothing but sour grapes. This is a marketing ploy. If they could have included the rest of the world in such a big exciting marketing stunt, they would have.

Everyone acts as though contest laws, international contest laws, and international mail have nothing to do with this. The immediate assumption seems to be "BioWare just likes to insult its fans" and that is a load of [stuff that is not very nice].

Other companies have held worldwide contests, too, so it's certainly possible. The least they could've done is announce on the countdown timer that it was for a US-only event. Instead, they implied that the entire community would be able to participate in the event. >_>

C'mon. "Slap in the face"? Didn't that go out of style, like, 2004? Go with the times, dude.

The current term to be used is "kick in the gut", if I'm not mistaken.

Think of the benefits! The revenue! The spectacle! All the fans and the hype!

It'd be EPIC!

We could have a countdown timer and everything!

Bah, you. I've been an avid supporter of Bioware for 12 years or more. I've got collector's editions of everything I -can- have a collector's edition of.

I'm tired of getting shafted, no support, no patches, issue upon issue, crashes, aloof developers pretending they're the most important thing since sliced bread, glued-on DLC, pre-order schemes, corporate propaganda, and most of all, not actually seeing any committment to excellence for the past few years.

I'm just tired of it all. I'm tired of being the abused girlfriend in this relationship.

Well, it's been going on for a while.  Most of the fixes I have on my system for BG2 are unofficial community-developed offerings, when I think about it.

My first Bioware Game was Shattered Steel (not sure if I still have it, but I still have the BG1 box I bought some 11.5 years ago).  In fact, looking at the games listed on their website, I've only never owned two: Sonic Chronicles and MDK2: Armageddon (I did at one time own MDK2 proper).

So yeah, I've put my money in over the years.

I can put up with their reckless game development/maintenance issues a lot more than I can stomach the neglect of their international fan/customer community (and the New Yorkers and Floridians to boot).  Of course, I'm ranting in the moment.  They could buy my silence by releasing a 1.04 patch for Dragon Age that fixes everything and then some.  :innocent:

showing your lack of knowedge their the_one....laws have no place here...there is no gambling....no issues at all.

The problem would have been in exporting/importing goods outside of the USA....which would either cost EA a small fortune, or they would have to make the winners pay their own import costs (fair enough to me)...instead EA do what they always do (rememebr the DA CE fiasco?), they took the easy route and pleased their own people.
