WOW!

This thread is awfully ridiculous and pure win at the same time.

I don't know whether to cry or laugh.

Can someone explain to this moron (that's me) how to get one of them snazzy flag thingies under my posts? I can get as far as editing my signature (gah... I've always hated signatures, in fact) but I don't know how to get the picture in there.

Yes I know, I'm stupid.

*sigh* Bioware you do realise this is a HUGE kick in the nuts (and the female equivalent) to all your fans outside of the United States. I'm sure that running an international competitions is fraught with legal difficulties, but perhaps you should've designed this "thanks to our fans" event so that ALL your fans can participate, not just a very select few.

What are these "tokens"? Is that the crap they use for DLC?

As a Canadian resident and huge BioWare fan who is barred from participating, I feel the need to claim that this event is a major slap in the face.

C'mon. "Slap in the face"? Didn't that go out of style, like, 2004? Go with the times, dude.

The current term to be used is "kick in the gut", if I'm not mistaken.

can't we use 'kick in the crotch'?

I had a feeling that a lot of fans would be disappointed with this "epic" community event, but this?

EA/Bioware/whoever really outdid themselves...

Well to be fair a lot of Canadian and North American contest exclude Quebec our francophone speaking province, and that's because they have their own laws pertaining to contests and what not. So it's probably something like that.

I am from Nova Scotia so yeah I know about the exclusion of Quebec thing
all too well - but that is another matter all together :)  They should
have just said usa contest only.

apology accepted,  i
think it was something we said

I was just curious on what Florida and NY could posiblity had said to annoy bioware - I am in th "excluded" group too - I more owe you an apology for my poorly worded comment :)

It's a great idea if you're a member of the community.

For the other 82 % of people.

It sucks.

Well Varenus..I'm sure thats true. There seems to be evidence on this forum over the past months, that certain things, never, ever receive a response. As to employee names, I guess I really don't want that.

Just disappointing to find out, that Bioware's birthday party disincludes most of their fans.

EA controls the strings, and thats that.

You need to put [1mg] at the beginning of the link and [/img] at the end...only you know, use i instead of 1.

I know... it appears I pasted something on there earlier that has now turned invisible and I can't get rid of it now

Ah well. I think I just sorted it by pressing BBCode. I'll just continue to steer clear of signatures for now, I think.

read the bazaar page. you get them for registering games, uploading characters with the character creator, referrals, contests, and i think something else. no money involved

Bah, you. I've been an avid supporter of Bioware for 12 years or more. I've got collector's editions of everything I -can- have a collector's edition of.

I'm tired of getting shafted, no support, no patches, issue upon issue, crashes, aloof developers pretending they're the most important thing since sliced bread, glued-on DLC, pre-order schemes, corporate propaganda, and most of all, not actually seeing any committment to excellence for the past few years.

I'm just tired of it all. I'm tired of being the abused girlfriend in this relationship.

Well, it's been going on for a while.  Most of the fixes I have on my system for BG2 are unofficial community-developed offerings, when I think about it.

[...]

While that's entirely true, you also have to remember that BG2 is a very old game that had it's "final patch" long ago, now being patched up by the community and polished over a very, very long time. Second, Baldur's Gate II didn't really have that many major bugs.

I can't remember a single one, on hand. I mean, I'm sure there were a whole slew of minor bugs. I know they could've used a spellcheck here and there. But I don't ever remember running into a serious bug and thinking "Oh my god, this is broken" or actually being unable to continue playing.

And even if you ran into bugs, they could likely be fixed by the very, very open console. You could spawn absolutely every NPC in the game, as far as I know, and use it to force triggers.

No such thing in DAO, and I still can't continue my game.
