Yeah, hopefully it'll pick up a bit by this evening. I need to go and do my make up but I'm too addicted to refreshing this page over and over.

once again it must be explained to people regarding contests that are not open to certain states or countries as to why this is...it is NOT because of Bioware but because of the laws in whatever state or country you live in. Look it up before you whine people.

http://www.howstuffw...question541.htm

They don't need to research anything - EA already knows everything they need, with all their regional divisions.

Also, the point is not so much that it's US-only, but that it was announced as an event for the ENTIRE community, including those outside the US.

Even legally,  the whole "regional laws" argument is BS....  there may be  aspects that could be described as a  "contest", but the main function of this Bazaar is  that of an  ONLINE  AUCTION.  And last I checked, a New Yorker could bid on eBay, and any other online Auction.

I love how this is still going. BioWare really needs to get out there and do some damage control.

They do... but really,  how does one go about putting out the fires on this one?

Short of Cancelling the entire thing  (which they're not gonna do, but damn, that would eclipse epic!)   Here are the only  responses I can imagine:

1)  They can  issue a generic apology,   then make a vague promise about the future. then proceed to lock all the Bazaar threads.

2) they can have a couple of staff members come in and engage THIS ENTIRE FORUM OF ANGRY POSTERS in some back and forth debate

3) They can come on here, pretend to be Lawyers, and tell us why  the entire world except 48 states is excluded from this 'epic' community event .

If they do #1, the fires they're trying to control will get larger.
If they do #2, they're going to get  virtually slaughtered.
If they do #3, they're going to get owned by REAL lawyers who post here, and who know  more than they do.

This is truly a no win, and one of the most spectacular crash and burns I've seen  since Troika went out on its shield.

What they should do is apologise and then put the entire contest on hold for a week or 3, and then reopen it for the entire community. 3 weeks should be plenty to do all the law stuff, especially with help from local EA departments.

An honest apology and fixing the situation is the best thing they can do for their reputation right now. Owning and taking responsibility for the mistake that was made.

at the very least, they should have told us that this is US only.

hopefully Bioware learns from this and NOT DO THIS AGAIN.

Only recently, do BioWare devs only seem to argue with rude posters, but before they really engaged with their fanbase. They joked around and we had enormous fun being teased with little hints about things in their games pre-release. I mean, they still do... well, I hope they will after this. Even these two lovely devs who regularly joined in on discussions in a group I am in have disappeared. I am thinking they have all been told to zip their mouths and don't comment.

I know they won't, but an apology is the best thing. Even if they just get people hauling insults, an apology is the mature and proper way to handle this kind of poopstorm.

I think it's gotten this bad because BioWare hasn't commented yet, and people feel ignored and pissed off.

Yeah, the problem was that the url between the '[img' '[/img]' was a hyperlink, so it was making things all dodgy :D Sorted it though, thanks.

And I do need make up, lots of lovely eyeliner ;)

This is what typically happens to developers owned and controlled by EA. I'm sure it's just as frustrating for BioWare as it is for the community as a whole. The reputation they have spent the better of a decade meticiously building up is effectively being destroyed here and all for one of EA's marketing shams.

I don't expect BioWare to apologize, but it would be nice if they acknowledged their non-US fans in some way...

BioWare's most of fans are outside of US. But because of their "US" policy they take lots of disproves. But it can't change. Because I guess BioWare Personnels are not read forum posts... So we can only "whinning". And this is sux.

Wonder if that is the same reason we haven't seen the bug fixes that have been around for so long.

EA doesn't want anymore money/time spent on supporting already released games.

Bioware is like an abusive husband.

They're not the same person that we married out of High School. No longer full of dreams and hope for the future. They've become hateful and bitter, little by little showing us the dark side of themselves that they had kept hidden. One day it finally becomes too much and they take their anger out on us. They try to justify it in their minds, thinking about what could have been if we hadn't been in there to hold them back.

Every time they hit us we say "No more! I won't let you do this to me." and leave for a week to stay at our mothers. Then they realize they can't pay the bills without us, and try to win us back with sweet talk and presents. They promise us it'll never happen again, and we buy it. We run back to their arms in hopes that we'll have our loving high school quarterback return. Things seem to be getting better, but soon the dark side comes back. They hit us again. We leave. "Never again!" we say.

A few more months go by. They crawl back to us on their hands and knees, begging us to take them back. They've gotten help. They're clean. Alcohol and anger free, and we believe it. We convince ourselves that things will be different this time. They really do love us, and maybe now they'll show us again if we just help them.

Things aren't different, however. They're worse than ever. Violence escalates, and we fear for our children, and not just ourselves. After all the abuse, the threats, the disrespect, we finally try to leave for good to protect our children from the madness. Except it's too late.

They get the gun from the closet, and shoot us as we're running for the door, crys of children echoing through the neighborhood...

Bioware doesn't have the gun yet. Get out while we still can.
