It's unfortunate but true. Bioware's reputation seems to be on the line, however, we hear nothing but silence. An apology would go far, but that's not EA's style. Their PR department has a bad reputation, and apparently with just cause.
Don't expect me to wish Bioware a happy birthday. I feel more like grieving for a dear departed.
I fear the worst. I had a bad feeling right from the get-go when it was announced that Bioware would join up with EA. The bad feeling never lessened, on the contrary, it kept rising in leaps and bounds. Poor quality merchandise, customer milking, misleading statements, unclear announcments, no connection to their fanbase - yes, that is the exact behavior that had me stay away from EA labels until DA:O. If anyone other than Bioware had developed DA:O, I still would not own any EA labels.
I decided to trust Bioware when I purchased DA:O, but now I don't trust them anymore. Anything they put out/announce/whatever will be treated with caution, research, and a wait-and-see attitude.
Ah, well. I won't hold my breath for any kind of statement, let alone an apology to the majority of their custormers. Silent is the night.
Well I'm not as miffed as I was yesterday, and I did participate in a small lonely thread that wished Bioware Happy 15th anniversary.
I see this as partly Bioware's fault..because you would think that someone would stand up and say...hey wait a minute, this isn't going to go over very well, we are excluding 9 tenths of the world and playing to those 48 states only. hehe
I mean I need to think here, that not everyone over at Bioware has their head up their behind..even if they are currently employees of EA.
So what happened, were they ignored..(note I am attempting to give Bioware the benefit of the doubt here) shouted down...what?
Supposedly the two Bioware CEOs sit on the board, granted they are in lesser positions of importance (from what I understand) than many of the other EA members also sitting at that board table. Still...I can't believe that...NO ONE had their light bulb go on about this.
Or is the PR dept and marketting depts just allowed free reign or carte blanche to do as they please?
One has to wonder.
