Disappointing. I'm guessing why everyone but the US is barred from the contest is because of shipping costs, which because the place they ship from is now in the US, also unfortunately includes us Canadians in the higher shipping costs.
Still, would have been nice if we at least got a montage video with clips from various Bioware games set to epic music. We want to celebrate your 15th anniversary too ;.;

Win? This is an auction. not a free-giveaway. Are you telling me that AMD (for example) does not want new yorkers to bid on the prizes they've supplied for this bazaar?jacquesct wrote...
No, but that could just be because of deals with the sponsors, who are providing the things people are going to win.

Yeah been reading up on it...since someone suggested google, it seems the only way is to wipe your harddrive..lol
Oh the other thing I noticed, was when I played Spore. Their drm for that is in their download manager. In order to play, you need to have their download manager minimized in your tray. That one is the one called Core. I note I have both on my system....Core is for DA:O ...too as far as I can tell.
So I have multiple little spy services running thanks to EA.
Not a happy camper.

I dont even know if I want to celebrate at all lol. Sure theyve made some great games, but this Bazaar just declares, in my opinion well over half they're fan base as 2nd rate customers.
Hmmm I cant help but think Bioware have just tried to do something nice for the community tho. Its just a shame they ballsed it up. RAGE

And Floridans. And New Yorkers too, apparently.RurouniSaiya-jin wrote...

I wasn't aware that shipping something to New York was more expensive than, for instance, shipping something to New Jersey.

Let me try to explain in a manner that's simple enough for you to understand.
1.You've bought a game, you get tokens, great!
2. You get your friends/random strangers to click your referral you get tokens!
3.To clarify, you're not buying tokens.
4.You "bid", you win free stuff, which has been provided by the sponsors, great!
AMD, or any other sponsor for that matter, doesn't want to be losing any more money than they have to, hence they limit where they'll ship to cut their costs.

Uh yeah...if you are American and live in those 48 states. The rest of us having tokens..doesn't do a thing. We can't use them.

I've been hyped up for this event since the countdown appeared on the site and knowing that's it's only open to US residents only...
You're even ripping of your native residents... EA shows its hands again. If you don't appreciate non-US patronage maybe we shouldn't buy your products.

I live in England, and I couldn't care less that I've got tokens in my account that aren't used for anything.

Sponsors usually pre-donate the items they are willing to offer up...they (EA) probably have them in their possession currently...just waiting for April 6th to roll around.
So their costs are already known...it would be EA shipping them out..wouldn't it? Thats how sponsors work in my area, my husband does this for his wholesale company from time to time. The gifts, prizes, doorprizes are all offered up beforehand....so EA knows exactly what they have to give out to winners..currently, don't they?

Indeed, so just replace AMD + sponsors in my post to EA, it's the same principle. They don't want to spend any more money than they have to.

Is an online contest really that much of a big deal? I mean, just think about it for a minute.
