Hm, but are they worse than the people wigging out over a silly contest?

Because it's not ridiculous at all how all the sore folks that can't participate are going to (already) find ways to make it out like BioWare has stolen something from them.Sylixe wrote...

Look contest laws, international mail is all fine, I'm all for an exlcusive contest, its pretty normal.
But a weeksworth of countdown and billing as an "epic community event"? Theres the problem right there
Im not angry bioware, I'm just very disappointed

Lets not overreact.I know its not what most of us wanted to hear, me included.
I was expecting something a little bit more inclusive given the build up.
The countdown and the "Epic Community Event" insignia gave the impression it was going to be something quite major and to people eligible its a good thing.
My only problem has been the overhyping of the whole thing.
BUT..
We've not lost anything have we?
We're still going to get ME3 and DA2 at some point and its not like this is taking away anything from the games we already have. Yes it would have been nice to have something a bit more inclusive but all in all, I'm not too fussed.
Swings and Roundabouts.
This attitude is actually quite self-defeating.
If you were disappointed that (according to you)
1) they overhyped it
2) it's not inclusive enough
3) it's not what you wanted to hear
then to say it's not a big deal is one thing.
But to say that
1) it means nothing at all
2) you haven't lost anything
3) it's not taking away from the games you already have
is false, contradictory, and only hurts you the consumer more than anything else.
It is an indication of the direction tht Bioware/EA is going on. It does and will have an impact on those future games you're referring to. The company culture has changed irrevocably.

Yes, this is the problem. You see, Im quite used to NOT being able to participate in such things due to the incredible strict laws my country has regarding these kind of events but come on......hype us all and then we get thiscoolbeans wrote...

Do you seriously think they didn't see all this coming? Do you really believe they didn't weight their options?Lucy_Glitter wrote...
was it really that NO ONE of bioware saw this coming?! did you all think we non-us (or ny, fl) residents would just go "oh..one week hype for this...aw well.."?!
All this "I'M TAKING THIS PERSONALLY BECAUSE MY FEELINGS ARE HURT AND I WANT CONTEST PRIZES TOO" stuff is nothing but sour grapes. This is a marketing ploy. If they could have included the rest of the world in such a big exciting marketing stunt, they would have.
Everyone acts as though contest laws, international contest laws, and international mail have nothing to do with this. The immediate assumption seems to be "BioWare just likes to insult its fans" and that is a load of [stuff that is not very nice].

This reaction could have been averted if they'd said from the start it was US-only. But they didn't... And hyped it up (devs posted on various threads saying it was going to be 'cool' etc), and then they put up timers and call it 'epic'.
So it's hardly surprising people are disappointed.

warning prizes may be made out to be more epic that they actually are
See, this is a mature and even-handed response. Thanks for the well wishes! I really do wish you all could have participated too, because it would have been more fun that way.Gtacatalina wrote...
I'm from the UK so I'm a bit disappointed I won't be able to go for any of those great prizes.
Good luck though to all of you going for the prizes in the USA
