Yeah, keeping one subject to one thread is totally censorship.

huh.. there are several threads of this, by BW, across the board. And this thread is to discuss the bazaar. Not for the rest of the world, who cannot participate anyway, to complain. We should freely express ourselves without being confined to a thread where we are not welcome!

Topic needs a drinking game.

Take a shot whenever someone says the phrase epic fail.

WTF? Having created one of the biggest DA sites out there, half of my staff, including me, gets excluded lol. Additionally, because of this "epic" countdown we re-scheduled kick-ass articles including something exclusive .. just to read US only.

Normally I'm a reasonable guy but this _really_ made me sick ...

Do better next time BioWare ... much better ...

You are clearly no longer a part of the Bioware community.

I'm selling greywardens.com with all the unique hits per day, ad income and all registered members, with complete database and all its content to the highest bidder ...

with lots of keywords greywardens.com is #1 on google (eg try "dragon age awakening walkthrough"), so perfect for covering DA2 in the future and stuff ...

since we're no longer part of the community, there is no sense in continuing the hard work we're doing _every_ day.

serious bidders start bidding ...

Gotta admit, I'm disappointed as well. More bewildered though. BioWare's fan base is world wide, and they're a Canadian company. Yet everyone but the US are excluded (and even a couple of states can't play). More than likely it has to do with regulations, but it's still disappointing. Ah well, I guess I can count my tokens...

I too want to express my disappointment in this marketing event. If legal restrictions result in a very restricted 'community,' why bother with the event when a very large portion of your customers and fan base must be excluded. A great example of how a company can garner poor public relations.

Actually checked the thing out now:

"To show our appreciation of fan support and to celebrate the 15th anniversary of BioWare, we have created the BioWare Bazaar"

I'll be participating, and hopefully I'll get some cool stuff from it, but overall, I do think it was an epic fail.

The countdown really got a lot of people excited. I think once people started thinking it was gonna be a new game announcement, they went "oh crap, we should put "epic community event" under the timer!" So once I saw that, I stopped being so excited.

Glad I don't live in Florida anymore tho.

Yep I'm not surprised though. I said from the get go that this would most likely be another epic fail.

The most expensive prizes are worth $2kUSD, so you're unlikely to get more than that. Unless some folks around here are idiots. So you'll probably actually get much more than that. And then they'll still complain.

My three cents (I'm Canadian, so I have to factor in the exchange rate).

I think the auction is a great idea. A game like this is a lot of fun, and would definitely help build up the community. Hell, it's encouraged a ton of my contacts on here to make Twitter accounts and follow me there, so that's great.

But excluding non-US residents, particularly those from your home country, is a bitter pill.  I understand that this is likely not a BioWare decision but one determined through international law, etc., etc. Regardless, it feels very unfair.

I hope you'll think of a way to show your Canadian and European fans some love too.

Thanks, guys. And I do mean that. I still love BioWare. <3

Yep Eurypterid is just a member like the rest of us. Mods just have shown over a long period of time that they can be objective and in control so the Dev's make them moderators to keep an eye on the peeps that can't control themeselves.

So, that was the big countdown of the year? Epic event?

...

Hum... Well, for USA, maybe. for Canada, I don't know: I live in Quebec, so I don't even know if I can participate. But why all the mysterious things for... that? I mean... come on, you could have put something else than a countdown to excite all your fans.

By starting with 'Epic USA COMMUNITY event'. There was a word left behind, I think.

So much mystery for such a 'nothing thing'

It really makes non sense , every bioware games have been worldwilde released since 15 years why limit it to usa ? and why not even canada in it , are they ashamed of their modest begginings?

Really as an european i am always treated like a second rate customer, games are more expensive and released days or a week after USA release . That means while the torrents are widely available, the official europeans box or even european Digital version are not available, check my profile i bought them all i am not advocating piracy, but frankly i dlike them to have some common sense with business practices.

I know you're probably being facetious here, but on a serious note, did you honestly think that Bioware/EA valued you and the website any more than as a potential place for advertising?

For some companies, "community" only means "customer base", and your worth to them doesn't extend much farther than that.

I'm not sure about "gifting" your points, but the rules state:

Tokens cannot be sold, are non-transferable, have no monetary value, do not constitute currency or property of any type, can solely be used to bid on items during the Auction element of the Contest (discussed below) and expire as of 4:00:00 PM PDT Saturday April 10, 2010. Limit: one Token Account per person.

So... probably not. You're stuck with tokens you can't use.
