May I ask why Florida and New York are excluded?

Answering my own question

Why Florida and New York Can't Play

In Florida Under the law, you should have an equal chance of winning, whether you purchase something or not.

Florida and New York require the sponsor to bond the sweepstakes equal to the total value of the prizes. Once the winners are announced, a winners’ list must be provided to the state(s) in order to release the bond.

I think it might be a tax thing, but I'm unsure.

Second this question.

I'd just like to know the specific reasoning or legal reasons as to why we were excluded.

What a sand sack of crap. So America = the whole community? No Europe? No Asia? And why are Florida and New York excluded?

Here's what I don't get: How, after answering a challenge via Twitter, will they know whose account it's coming from? I don't see a way to register my Twitter account to my account here...

Third. And can we just use the address of a friend or family member that lives in a more suitable state?

This, thanks so much for making a bunch of the community members actually feel not part of the community. I don't really blame you about the headache for dealing with local laws regarding contests, but warning us that it would be of no interest for oversea members would have been cool.

Why in the world was there a need for a count down for that?

It's also odd that Canada is excluded... seeing as it's a Canadian company.

Was it so hard to announce beforehand that it was going to be an America-only service?

US only (no canada, nothing outside the american continent, and don't bother creating a twitter account with a fake adress, since the prize won't be sent over the frontier), it should be written on the front page of the contest to avoid any delusion

Places would've been excluded because of legal reasons (contest laws differ from state to state, province to province, country to country - it would be something between a logistics nightmare to impossible). That's understandable.
The slap in the face is that many of us were basically just informed we are not part of the community by the way this was handled.

You guys don't actually expect anyone to address any questions do you? This move should show you that the old Bioware that actually cared about its community is gone. Now they just insult us with bull**** advertising ploys like this. "Please, advertise our games to everyone! We may even patch them one day!"

i just wish you would have made clear from the start that most of the world is excluded from this community event. i got excited about the countdown clock and prizes and stuff, and then got really disappointed

i'm not angry. i think the community is reacting too harshly, but still it would have been nice to have warned us

Yeah I was actually about to post something about this...I dont know how they will connect the two.

It says that winners of the twitter thing are notified via the social.bioware message system, which raises more questions..

Well I don't actually care about this, but I do wonder why you had to put up a countdown for that :P

Though in the end it's our own fault for seeing that much into a simple number ticking away.

I'm playing Bioware games for almost 12 years. I'm registered 2 days on this "epic" social network. And now i'm seriously thinking about deleting this acc, this event and stuff... This realy bothers me, stupid waiting on something big and now seeing its just lot of crap... You, Bioware, F***ed up my whole day :\\

I don't understand. Why make everyone excited beforehand and then tell this is for U.S. residents only? Did you WANT to make everyone else feel disappointed? I thought BioWare would treat its fans better.

EDIT: And no, it's not about the fact that you're only including fans from a certain area. That's reasonable and completely understandable for a number of reasons. What irritates me is that FIRST you got everyone's hopes up and THEN told that most of us aren't eligible.
