Do any of you know a thing about tariffs, taxes, and individual country's regulations on converting a fake currency (IE: tokens) into items worth real currency? Look at all hoopla going on about VAT and Second-life currency.
This isn't a straight up contest folks, and THAT is why non-US entities were excluded because of the massive amount of red tape and extra taxation that the winners and Bioware/specific manufacturers would have to pay, and the massive bureaucratic stink-hole that needs to be waded for an event like this.
It's a Canadian based company...not American....
And the contest is run by EA not bioware proper
And the website that called it a community event is run by Bioware employees, not EA.
Actually....no this is an EA operated website, all the current bioware sites are.
Oh really?" Thats good to know, maybe you should go down to the site help forum and let the guys who got laid off by BIOWARE and still post there know that they actually did nothing here at all. That would be super-keen, champ!

So are you blaming Bioware for a contest that has EA protection stamped all over it or defending them...pick a side
No matter how you look at it, Bioware's staff still played part in this gigantic piece of fail. PR guys advertised it as something epic and cool.
Well, we're not enjoying it - are we?

For the 10000th time the issue isnt the contest, the issue is the false advertising before the contest, implying that it was to be community wide. And THAT was the fault of Bioware.
Pay attention.

Staff nationality doesn't have much to do with it. The property, including the contest and it's rules are
still EA

As for false advertising in relation to the event being community wide, agreed, ethicly at least if not legally (I can't see them leaving themselves open to a lawsuit). But a lot of the responses here have been directed at not being able to participate, so it is an issue.
I'm willing to bet that half of the people that are complaining they cant participate are upset because they were mislead...and the other half are the peoople that will complain any time they are excluded, no matter how it is presented. If bioware had have said "Upcoming contest for US residents" I would be sitting on the other side of the fence defending them.

I can't help but think, especially from the lack of official response, that this is in truth some sort of marketing test to gauge reaction.
No, Bioware always remains quiet when they screw up - they ignore the problem for a month or so and then think it's a smashing success when nobody talks about it anymore.

Definitely not. But again, in case someone still has some doubts, this is not about the contest. Yes, I think it's pretty lame and I'd have hoped for some game-related announcement, but the point this: this event has been advertised as an epic event for the BioWare community, while, on the other hand, it is only for a single part of it, and not even all of it. I can fully understand the reasons behind this decision, but the whole advertising was just... unfair, unscrupulous and dishonest. And, I should add, I'm also pissed of by the exclusion itself - not because I wanted to partecipate, but because - even if I understand the reasons behind it - I'm fed up with being treated like a second class citizens. Still, had they advertised the bazaar as an American thing for the very beginning, things would have been marginally better. As it is, though, the whole thing is iniquitous: first the injury (a lame bazaar instead of some solid announcement), and then the insult (tut tut, sorry community: this is only for our beloved fans in the US. The rest is unimportant).
Maybe it's only me, but if a thing I can do has the potential to be unfair to someone, I tend not to do it.... But hey, I'm a Communist (both as a joke and as a truth, since I'm really a left-winged voter).

I wonder if April fool joke. I hope Bioware give something to the non American like 1500 points to buy DLC or make all the dlc free
April Fool's Day isn't celebrated worldwide, thus it's a rather poor joke and even then.. it's the 29th.

I guess my whole point, is I'm not as sure to lay all the blame on Bioware's shoulders. Past experience with EA products both online and single player leaves a certain taint that I can sense.

This actually reminds of something SOE would do.....

What are you thinkint, excluding the whole world of fans and recuding it to Americans. Think, people.
Look at what outrage you just produced in Germany: http://forum.worldof...25#post12447825
Think, people. THINK! Is it really THAT hard? Bloody hell, you just do not want to pay the higher shipping costs. You make me sick.
