R.I.P. OFFICIAL Stanley Woo Appreciation Thread!

You will be missed.

Also, I don't like this clicking stuff as much as the next guy.  Hence, my awful, annoying behavior.

The laptops are likely 15 inchers with slightly above factory standard parts - based on the price.

The computers are likely (hopefully anyway) high end machines without monitors.

I just noticed the donate tokens idea. I guess the poster did not read the rules. Since it clearly says these tokens have no value what so ever.

I liked the idea of previous BW contests, when you just needed to be on the forums. Twitter I can understand, but I see no point in myself joining that. Clicking on other people's unique url, that seems like such a lame idea, click, click, clickity click click click, etc.

Anyway, thanks for the contest, I think I'll throw in my tokens from registering stuff, but I'd rather not be on twitter or the BW social site all day, GL to those who amass 10,000+ tokens from having everyone mass click their url before April 10th.

It will probably depend on how profitable this one was for BW. I imagine the concept will be polished a bit though.

Even if I wasn't a filthy Canadian barred entry to the contest, I'd still think that countdown was at best pointless. In reality it's more like a slap in the face.

Also, is it really good publicity having a contest whose point is to have your players go out and ****** off the greater internet as a whole by spamming them with links? Why not just cut out the middle man and use the already famous "Win a Free Ipod!" template?

I am seriously pissed about this.I have Baldurs Gate 1 and 2, KOTOR, ME 1 and 2, DA:O, DA:O:A all for PC and I can't win anything because i'm a Canadian? Dammit Bioware is based in Canada!

I was really hoping the countdown would be for ME3 or a new dragon age game or major SWTOR update but instead we get this : / blegh ...it wouldn't be so bad if the contest wasn't so....limited...

By the time we get to do this again, it will be MUCH more polished. Hopefully they won't let anyone win high-end items multiple times.

I rather like this. I've needed a new PC for a while, so I'm getting as many points as I can. Been meaning to buy DA: Awakening, so now I have a reason. Going to buy it for the story and for the points tomorrow :D

Anyway, I came to ask if anyone could explain how the Auction is going to work? Are all the items put up at once and bid on, then taken down? Are items auctioned individually?
And lastly, if I dunk all my tokens on one item, but lose the bid, are the tokens SPENT? Or are they returned to me for the next bidding round?

Ok, I hope to delete the Epic Fail video as soon as their promise come true. Meanwhile, I'm back doing my usual DA vids:

Dragon Age - Awakening - Game! Set! Match! - Oghren's Crash & Burn Image IPB

Very short one, with my latest captured funny stuff.

(since the thread in the DA General forum got locked while I was churning this out, I post it here in its entirety; bear in mind it quotes and is a reply to a message from the DA General forum Bazaar announcement thread)

As for the referral link clicks, note that they only count 10 unique clicks per day up through 500 points (i.e. 50 days worth of clicking the link 10 times per day), then only one click per day thereafter.

So nobody is going to be rolling in illicit points from referral link abuse, other than making quiet personal fools of themselves if they get carried away before they realize there is a daily cap that's quite low.

+1 point per unique click once you go over your daily limit.

There are all kinds of tools to generate unique clicks via lists of proxy servers. They are mostly used for generating false information for youtube, myspace, google ads, ...

When the auction comes around, I am guessing that there will be some people with a ludicrous number of points.

Actually, rereading it, you get +10 tokens per unique click per day until you reach 500, then +1 token per unique click per day.  There is no daily limit at all, other than governing the window for a "unique" click.  So yes, you're right, enterprising and sad individuals can use their botnets to drum up tokens in the millions should they desire.

I made the mistake of presuming some semblance of a sanity check, even though previously I'd lambasted them ("them" being the highly suspect individuals responsible for this marketing gimmick) for encouraging questionable behavior because of the referral links.

I mean, referral links, people.  There is nothing to be done with them that accords any modicum of respect normally, and no safeguards apparently have been taken to prevent abuse.

Yeah, I've seen people posting it on 4chan and other sites, as well as talk of using IP changers and proxies to make it seem like they were getting unique clicks

The only hope is that they say there will be some sort of judging on the auctions as per the rules. Surely an artificially high number will look suspect.

Who would aim for artificially high numbers? The people who are likely going to win this auction are the underhanded pricks who recycle their IP to exploit it and get BELIEVABLE numbers. They probably won't try to get to 20,000 points or something, they'll boost their tokens just high enough to be believable, but still beat out everyone.

I think everything else was fair, but I think BioWare should just remove this referral links thing. It works for marketing, but for those of us who CARE about the Auction, it makes honest folks waste time (and possibly money) to get a lot of points just to end up with a mug or poster, rather than one of those computers or GPUs...

You'll likely get banned for posting such links on other sites.

Bioware doesn't encourage such things, you still have to follow the TOS of other sites.

You say this like 20,000 is high.  I'll be dissapointed if I don't have 20,000 by the end of tomorrow night.
