Oh. My. God.
[Begin Rant]
Do you all really think that Bioware wanted to make this a US only thing? Their own company works in canada. This is not because Bioware hates its fans, its because most of their fans most likely do live in the US. EA is the parent company of Bioware, meaning that most of the money to pay for the swag is most likely coming from EA in some form or another. There are LAWS and shipping practices that make over seas shipping a royal pain in the ass, the cost of shipping a computer from California (where is most of this stuff most likely is) to Virginia is cheaper then shipping it to another nation.
At the same time, alot of bureaucratic BS gets in the way. Most contests I see online for other game companies, like Blizzard for example (a company with a strong online/international community but based in California) their contests are similar in nature, only to the US or North America, and a handful of other countries here is an example http://www.worldofwa...test-rules.html
"THIS CONTEST IS OPEN ONLY TO RESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, AND NEW ZEALAND, WHICH ARE: (i) OVER THE AGE OF MAJORITY IN THEIR COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE ON THE DATE REFERENCED BELOW AS THE START DATE FOR THE CONTEST; AND (ii) WHO ARE NOT RESIDENTS OF THE STATES OF NORTH DAKOTA, VERMONT, CONNECTICUT, OR MARYLYAND IN THE UNITED STATES; THE PROVINCE OF QUEBEC, CANADA; OR RESIDENTS OF THE AUSTRALIAN STATES OF VICTORIA, QUEENSLAND OR THE AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY"
As you can see, this contest has a larger base, but still cuts out europe. Basically what I am trying to say with all of this, is that countries, nations, entire continents are usually cut out of contests for various reasons, so stop taking it so personally.
Yes it sucks that Bioware hyped up the most likely EA sponsored event to all international fans, only to have it US only.
Yes it sucks that it is open only to US fans.
Yes it sucks it general, but **** like this is ALWAYS HAPPENING.

cool story bro, but isnt US WoW and EU WoW kinda separated so they each have their own events, servers etc. ?
Thats an excellent point, but like I said, Blizzard is a heavily international company, and their US contests are not open to Europe.
But no, they are not seperate, I can log on WoW right not and go into a european and south american server. Both are run by the same.
And BEHOLD I found a Blizzard contest, only open to European countries.
http://www.wow-europ...nware-2010.html
At the same time there is a similar blizzard contest for north america, but to is not open europeans, blizzard simply has the funds to create two contests like that.
The point I am trying to make, is that most companies, Can Not, create a large contest that is completely international. Yes it is a problem, but not one that can be fixed easily.

People are hilarious.
No matter what country, people will bring the pitch forks and slay their loved one's for free ****.
The amount of "personal betrayal" being posted here is laughable. Do you like their games? That is all that matters. Not FREE ****.
So stop being a bunch of emo's because you don't get a chance to win a hat.

Actualy you would need a European account to log into the EU servers and vice versa. Also need a European Client to play on the European server (however a US Client can become a EU client if you go into some ini fils and change a few settings - like servers to connect to).

And... what? Yes, all is correct. But to fans it became better not. It is better not to spend similar things if they do not mention more half of community. And so Bioware receive only negative responses and respect for them falls.

moronic answer at best, people are complaining that this was hyped on a global site while being only a regional contest....
also...the futility of the contest as compared to what these energy and funds could have gone toward pisses a lot of people off

try to notice the difference

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com
maybe even check realm status page
if you have american copy of WoW you cant play on EU servers and vice verse, therefore US servers have US events and EU servers have EU events ...

Given the hype they put on this event, they should have used the money and resources to create something that could have been enjoyed by all their fans. A celebrative collector's DLC? Possibilities are endless when you have the internet and a solid DLC system at your disposal.
But looks like Bioware decided to be akin to Sega, and found their marketing team in a ptato chips bag. good job.
Sorry Bioware, but your fans on this side of the Atlantic paid your salaries for 15 years just as much as the american ones. Looks like having to wait longer to play your games almost every single time isn't enough of a slight, though, what about just putting a nice label on the european boxed with "2nd rate customers edition"?

Emperor Mars - We are mostly complaining about misinformation and hype, actually. Not about the contest itself..
Not from what I am seeing/reading, and I so agree with the hype crap, but as someone else said, had they only pitched to US dwellers, then the forums would be alight with more "bioware perfers america" stuff.
I am not for biowares exclusion or failure to create an equal contest for non-US residents, I am simply stating that there are fairly logical reasons for it.
edit--forgot to include the Not, sorry if that came out wrong.

Indeed. And rarely some quests are different on either region. There was a Brewfest quest that was disabled on EU servers but was available on US servers.Sad Dragon wrote...

We have our own GMs, own servers, own website (as in wow-europe), our own patches... They really are seperate games.

LOL Moronic Troll with no registered games? Are you serious man? Because i haven't registered my games makes me less of a person?
And you call me moronic?
All i was saying is that if you are a fan of bioware, acting like a bunch of little kids who didn't get to put a quarter in the ****ing plastic ring deposit is just gross.
I mean, a bet a lot of you guys here have posted on the forums A LOT and shown tons of support for the games and developer, and this is the changing point? Not getting free ****?
Grow the **** up. Life isn't fair, for all you know there will be an auction next week for your home town.
So just chill the **** out, And if defending the Developers for which this community is based on makes me a troll, so be it. <3<3<3
