Assault armor. That's all I need.

Revenant rifle with hardened adrenaline rush and either AP or Inferno rounds.

Put some points into Grunt's fortification skill. Even on Insanity you see that guy running around getting swarmed by husks, but he keeps on keeping on.

If you have trouble with husks , just bring SuZe and shockwave them. one shockwave kills em all in my games.

Avalanche and Grunt as has been said are very helpful. The flamethrower is pretty good too, you can run backwards and take them out. It has pretty good ammunition also.

Incapacitating slam worked really well for me. 3 second cool down and no defenses on the husks means you can spam it pretty well, as well as do some CC.

I don't recall the Arc Projector taking out a husk in 2 shots. Not on Insanity anyways. Maybe your Arc Projector hit an explosive canister and it 2-shot the husks? Because I know the Avalanche will 1-shot husks if it catches an explosive canister in its radius.

I tended to use 1 or 2 arc projector shots to stun 10+ husks and remove their armor, then use an ability like area pull to finish them.

Too bad none of the party members have vortex, you can plant one of those at a choke point and just watch all the husks die, unless that doesn't work on insanity, havn't tried.

The only husks I had a problem with was the ones you face while protected by the biotic field on the suicide mission when they are teamed up with the scion. And that is because you have crap room to maneuver. If I had used Jack for the shield and taken Samara it probably would have been easy as well, and well Mordin I had sent back to the ship so my other AoE armor stripper was gone.

Outside of that, you can usually run laps around them and take them down with your pistol. And honestly your melee attack really hits them hard, just flail away and you will kill them quick.

And on easier difficulties when they don't have armor, just AoE spam with things like pull, throw, shockwave, singularity etc.

What helped me as a Sentinel was maxing out the Tech Armour and Area Cryo. With this setup you can one shot kill a group (husk shatter themselves when they freeze and still try to run after you) and any that manage to get close enough to try to beat you down get blasted when your tech shield drops.

As a none Sentinel having Mordin with Area Cryo, Squad Cryo or the Avalanche also helps. As well as being more mindful of where they are attacking you from. If you aren't careful that N7 mission on the husk planet can be a real ****...

Grunt with both survival passives maxed and with an upgraded Eviscerator is poetry in motion. I have sat back and just stared without intervening. He is mandatory in all my husk missions follow closely with Mordin and his maxed Incinerate/Cryo

oh, I almost forgot to mention. Arc projector is very effective. I think that it does work for almost any enemies. here is a strategy when you play it as Biotic classes. bring this weapon, use reave and shockwave at the same time, and shoot them with it. I think that neutral shock is also helpful sometimes.

Either rock the Shotgun, or choose 'Slam' as your bonus power (provided you're not a biotic, that is) and they shouldn't pose too much of a problem. Failing that, fall back and have Grunt deal with 'em. He gets angrier than them if they come too close.

Shockwave is really good, so is throw. Domination also is quite poweful for it kills the husk immediately.

If you play as soldier concussive shots help.

This, right here. Sure, it's a little more "low concept" than some of the other things being tossed around in this thread, but I've found that aiming for the legs puts them down faster than shooting them anywhere else, even the head.

I think thats why Shockwave and Vortex insta kills them, their legs are really squishy

I had no problem with them in ME1, but they tend to school me in ME2, the way they gang up on me, I can knock one down, but I can't block their attacks (ME3 melee needs improvement in this regard, but that's another topic.)  Usually, there is at least one point on Horizon and Reaper IFF where I get "smoked" and have to reload. Tali's combat drone has saved my neck a few times. I keep bringing Mordin hoping that he will incinerate them, but he hasn't been delivering.

So, playing as a Soldier or Sentinel which squadmates are the best "husk busters"?

Wait whut, you have problems beating husks? They're like trash opponents

When they get close, just step (they'll keep on running for a few secs before realising their mistakes) out of the way and use the smg or shotgun.

Crowd Control, such as pull, throw, concussive shot depending on the class your playing with.

Most importantly stay out of cover when faced with large amounts of husks and don't forget the backpeddle button while biotic or other powers are recharging. While running backwards its easy to pick them off if there charging. Husks are weak enemies but they can require you change strategy when they attack as opposed to standard enemies (gun weilding) especially if you like to stay behind cover and pick enemies off. If faced with mixed (husks, collectors, ect.) I like to take out the husks first.

Grunt, he's a tank, also shoot the legs of the husks, it will disable and kill them.

Oh, another tip. Often, when a Husk is very near, it can be more advantageous to step forward and punch them than to backpedal. Sounds counterintuitive, but it's true...

Depends on difficulty level.

Jack's shockwave is good for "husk bowling" once their armour is down, or have no armour on lower settings. As is throw field and singularity/warp combo

If all else fails, close range grenade to the face of the nearest husk, followed by a medigel for yourself. Should buy you enough breathing room to fall back and regroup.

Aim for the legs. They seem to die instantly if you blow their legs out. also unlike the mechs they dont crawl after you after that happens.
