The Ice ammo with the heavy handgun, one shot they freeze after 3 seconds. Smgs and assault rifles with shedder ammo does the trick, aim for there waist . It brakes their legs before the health goes down if you shoot a couple of rounds.

If you are Adept Shockwave works very effectively (coupled with the biotic cooldown upgrades). I just love getting those little guys all in a line running at me and then unloading my shockwave at them. Throw works great as well, because the cooldown is naturally short for it. As far as guns go I like my trusty Carnifex Hand Cannon. Ooo Also Singularity is fun to trap them too.
...yeah I am a biotic addict, and I am ok with myself.

Protip: Husks die the *instant* you activate physics on them. Bring wide-area biotics, anything works--or Grunt's charge attack. Pull Field + Throw Field just happens to be extremely comical. Also, aim for the hips, not the head. If you take off their legs, they die.

I had no problem with them in ME1, but they tend to school me in ME2, the way they gang up on me, I can knock one down, but I can't block their attacks (ME3 melee needs improvement in this regard, but that's another topic.) Usually, there is at least one point on Horizon and Reaper IFF where I get "smoked" and have to reload. Tali's combat drone has saved my neck a few times. I keep bringing Mordin hoping that he will incinerate them, but he hasn't been delivering.
So, playing as a Soldier or Sentinel which squadmates are the best "husk busters"?
Run around for them to pack, run back, throw a nuke.
OR, if you have the M-490 Blackstorm,
Run around for them to pack, run back , throw a mini black hole.
Both are cheap and fast way to clean up husk areas, even on Insanity.

I found Grunt and Jack to be really good against the Husks. Jack because of her Shockwave and Grunt because he can take a fair flogging and keep going. If you start getting swarmed back up a send Grunt in then pick off the husks. One tip is to aim for their hips just at the point that their legs join them as this seems to blow their legs off much quicker.
I found husks to really suck in melee as if more than one is on you then you are in perma-stun and can't do a single thing unless you get lucky and a companion just happens to aim for one of the husks that is wailing on you.

Bring Grunt... nothing like watching him do his bullrush through a cluster of husks.
