I know this was all handed to us and the tokens are essentially free and have no real value....

I also know something like this is ridiculously hard to set up having done so myself... but....

Is there any way that for this contest period or perhaps in the future we could use tokens to somehow benefit Child's Play?

Something like BioWare sets a goal and if they receive enough tokens they will donate X amount to Child's Play?  Any charity would be great but Child's Play is relevant to gaming and gamers are comfortable with the notion of helping them carry out their goals.

I must admit I'm not familiar with what Child's Play is but from everything else you said it sounds like a nice idea.

I think they did something like this recently when they e-bayed some Bioware loot and donated the money to charity.

I think this is a good idea.Child's Play is a Seattle-based charity that provides entertainment (games etc) to children in various children's hospitals across the world.

If something like this could be done, that would be an excellent way for those of us that can't enter the contest to use our tokens.

No, not really, it wouldn't.

If it was done and the entire community was enforced to do it and got none of the gifts themselves, then open your mouth.

Instead of the excluded "community" having to do the charity work, the entire "community" does it, and all the gifts in the bazaar go to Child's Play or go to auction to raise money for it.

I see what you're saying, but things are as they are. The reality is though, that it's not set up that way. I have almost 6000 tokens that are useless to me because I'm in Canada. If something like this suggestion were to come to pass, I'd gladly donate them all.

Nice idea ... for that I'd donate my tokens, too (can't use them anyway as a European).

Sadly because of misconceptions about the hows and whys concerning these tokens and the Bazaar not being open to residents of Countries other than the U.S.... this idea will like any other thread concerning the tokens be derailed into oblivion.

I'd hold my tokens for myself, if for nothing else than pure spite. I'd rather send the money that was likely going to be spent on the next Bioware game straight to Child's Play, or have a token-to-cash calculator and send the money in myself, rather than have toys earmarked "Electronic Arts" or "Bioware" handed out to children.

I'm sure BioWare has something in mind for those of us who can't use our tokens for this event, I find it hard to believe this is one and done. Perhaps they can be used for DLC, I'd be all over the idea of auctioning them for charity. I just doubt nothing is planned for those of us unable to participate, then again judging by what I've seen the past few months they may really just not give a damn.

I live in the US and am eligable for the auction and if this option were available I would donate all of my tokens as well.

Personally, I'm praying this is all a joke. I love your idea of giving to charity, but I feel like a jerk for even having these tokens at all. I don't even want them now. It just feels wrong what they're doing. I mean, it would make sense if they did it in some kind of cycles. Like, certain countries would get to do it and then you would switch, since they claim not to have very many of what was being given away and there are countless Bioware users. But to just deny people even the chance to take part because of their location? It's not right.

First.. you can't seriously believe that the decision went something like this:

BioWare Dude 1: Hey let's have an auction!
BioWare Dude 2: Awesome idea...Americans only though!
BioWare Dude 1: Oh, totally... no one outside of America is worthy!

Of course it isn't that simple.  I'm sure they'd love to offer it to every single one of their customers.  You and 99% of the people on these forums are not lawyers or versed in International Law and have -no- idea why such decisions are made.  It isn't because they don't value you and it isn't because they are raving Pro-America / Anti-Anything Else.

Second.. if you know that is not what this thread is for.. why not post your comment in one of the 50 million other threads that ARE relevant to your comment?

Make your own game development studio, partner with or create your own publishing arm... and make your wishes come true!

I'm sure their QA people and artists and programmers and such are not the type of employee who put this together.

Actually that's a nice idea. I would donate my tokens as well even though I am eligible for the auction. I won't likely have time to do Bioware's marketing for them, unless they pay me, lol.
