Small complaint about ME2 companions.

In all of the loyalty missions your “odd man out” so to speak, rarely ever speaks and in most cases if they do speak it’s the same dialog used over and over.
This same lack of dialog usage even happens on all the missions in the game with very few variants. Sure Garrus and Tali have a few lines in Mordin’s loyalty mission or Jack gets a whole line in on Miranda’s one. For the most part there is not any original character specific dialog in the game. This alone limits replay value as well as flesh out each of these companions.
If you bring Garrus to Horizon neither Kaidan/Ashley or him will even acknowledge each other when you meet. The same thing happens with meeting Liara if you bring Garrus and/or Tali to meet her, not a word.
To make things even worse is with the limited Collector main quest missions you don’t get the chance beyond the loyalty missions and the little in ship dialog to really get to know any of them.
The Abridged Mass Effect 2, a must read. In the Spoilers Forum. http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/105/index/1777005

Completely untrue.

I never had any acknowledgment, he Garrus says a line but it’s the same one said by any one you bring.
Is this something you get extra if you use an imported ME1 game? I cant rember if I used one in the time I did bring Garrus on Horizon.

I didn't mind the 'have to' of recruiting these people. You 'had to' recruit all the ME1 squad mates, in a sense. My problem with these characters is that they have their 'one moment in the sun' and then they are forgotten by the game (and by me). After Miranda's 'special time' in the game, she stops talking to me and I move on to help Jacob. After I'm done with him, it's Jack's turn for the spot light. OK, Jack's done, now it's time for some KROGAN Thresher Maw killing!!! By this point, I forget about Miranda, Jacob, and Jack. Oh, and there's still like 7 more loyalty quests to go!!
It's all very episodic as opposed to having the characters weaved into the whole story. Even if the ME1 crew had less dialog it was triggered by story progression and paced well. I don't think ME2 did a good job with this and it leaves me with a 'meh' feeling regarding most of these characters.
Good point jlb52. It feels like going down an assembly line. No matter how much I enjoyed some of the loyalty missions,(Garrus, miranda, and Tali stand out for me)it was all so disjointed... So disconnected from each other. No one talks, no playful banter, no arguing, just a single line or two in the background.
Hell, even if they had just implemented the others talking more about your love interest like in dragon age, that would have increased the immersion.

Ashley says, "You too, Garrus?" when confronting Shepard over working with Cerberus.
Really? I never got that.

About Liara. She was my LI in MS1 because I thought she played a bigger role in the story then Ashley (with the Protheans knowledge, evil mom, starts weak but hopefully grows stronger in sequel, etc.) But even I thought her grieving over her mother felt too held back. I wish there was a scene where she says she's over her, and then you try to talk to her about something else, only for her to start crying. You then hug her and tell her it's going to be ok. It would have been a good scene...
...instead she's mostly over it, and wants to talk about how her species mates.........................................

.....................................
....but I held on, hoping she'd become a more emotional character in MS2...
...and now she's an evil information broker who wants me to hack terminals, and doesn't want to talk to me much.........................
Oh I can romance Tali now? Awesome!

Tali, Garrus and Wrex better be in ME3. I miss Wrex so much, but don't tell him that!

In the perspective of Liara, yes. Shepard will die before Liara is even halfway through life. That would suck.Xaijin wrote...
That said, it's obviously not something that's going to work long term.
