In the game there are areas that appear to be saved for future expansion.
An example would be Avernus Tower door thats just at ground level and to the left of the merchant after you've reclaimed the fortress.
I'd like to know if it's possible to hinge that door, and add an area to the original content.
Other examples would be the houses in Denerim.
Some of the homes have doors that will not open but they appear to be the same as any other door on any home.
Is it possible to change those doors to hinge and add content such as a backyard ( outside content ) or a back porch ( interior content ). ?
Or would this mean that I'd have to dissect the entire level / area and rebuild it to include the new area ?
Add an interior or exterior to existing DAO content?

Adding an interior is just adding a new area to your module and linking it to a door with a transition; there is a way via scripting to add a usable door where an existing unusable one is. There is at least one add in module for the Origins campaign that adds a new section to Denerim that way.
