No Lucas, it didn't make Han cold blooded. It made him bad ass.Bustercube wrote...
I read somewhere when they rereleased Starwars in theaters back in the 90s they had a focus group, and one of the things that they decided was to change that sceen because they said it made Han look cold blooded. Whatever Lucas.Halae Dral wrote...

Han shot first. He had to or Greedo would have killed him. I don't know why Lucas felt he had to change that.
Yeah. Honestly, I don't understand why most of the changes were made. I suppose there must've been some reason, but...

In the 1977 original release Han shoots first or Greedo doesn't shoot at all.
In the 1997 Special Editions Greedo clearly shoots first.
In the 2004 DVD Editions Greedo shoots first but juuuuuust barely. They basically shoot at the same time.

It's interesting since they actually changed it twice.

They slowed down the movie pretty obviously in the SE to have time for the additional shot. It's not that obvious in 2004, but still... meh. After all, Han is a badass, said so himself in episode 5 (I don't have the original words, but he admits it).

Yeah, I can't find a screenshot right now for some reason, but it's pretty hilarious how they basically SMUDGED Harrison Ford's face to make it look like he was "dodging" the shot.stardazzled wrote...

As you said, it still looks silly in 2004, but at least it's not ridiculous.
