So I'm in the Fade section of the mage circle quest, and I've hit a problem.

I've defeated all the bosses and released two of my companions, but the third one (The Dog) is confounding me. When I go into his nightmare there's no-one there, is this a bug or am I not getting something?

Alternatively, if I battle sloth without freeing him, will I lose him forever?

Uh, I don't know the answer to Dante's question but this IS the spoilers forum...

I would say to go ahead and confront Sloth, just to see what happens. Losing Dog in that battle may or may not make a difference, since with your shapeshifting you can take Sloth on relatively easily. If something goes wrong, then just reload to before confronting Sloth.
