Can anyone from Bioware give us at least a rough estimate for when there will be some fixes? It's very frustrating wondering if this game will ever get the fixes it needs after five months without. Any sort of info on when to expect something would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, I'm betting economics comes into play. They most likely have a certain amount of money allocated for post launch support. If certain reported bugs will require such resources to "investigate and fix" that it exceeds that, or adversely affects their profit margin, then I feel afraid they will never be addressed or even commented on. Personally, I have yet to see a review or game website reporting on these issues also relieves the pressure on the company to fix. I certainly did not realize the extent of the issues until I had my own problem and came to this site and saw so many others reporting problems so the potential impact on their original sales is minimized. I know, I know, short sighted due to the decrease in customer satisfaction and impact on potential future sales, but I can think of a lot of business models right now that are focused on the short term profits and with Bioware's approval riding high in the gaming industry now, the risk versus cost for them might just not be worth it.

The one thing that has me very frustrated is the fact that some of these problems already have fixes, and have been released for the pc months ago, namely the fix for dex. Five months is a long time to wait to be able to make a pure archer character, I mean usually when new patches are released they include fixes from previous versions and build on that. The 1.03 patch gave us none of the fixes from the 1.02 patch and added new bugs as well, one very noticable bug is the audio cutting out a lot, it happened very rarely before, but since this patch it happens almost every time I play.
I'm really hoping that we will get a big ass patch with many fixes since it's been five months that they've had to come up with fixes and that's why there has been nothing yet. It would really be nice to have an expected date for the next patch though, even a rough guess, the silence is very frustrating.

Or at least tell us that they are working on them (If they did say anything, I didn't see it.) I agree completely though; I am having a big problem with the King-Consort Epilogue glitch and it just bugs me that they haven't addressed anything about it (or the loads of other glitches) yet.

I understand the reasons for them not being able to patch the Xbox version but the lack of communication is the real problem.

I really want to play Awakening but I won't give Dragon Age any more money until someone answers some questions.

There's no reason to bump this thread, it's useless and pointless. Every bug thread, at leas most of them, Michael Lang or some other dev has stated "they know of the bugs" and "do not know when they will be fixed". The dexterity bug for instance has been bugged for well over 4-5 months now. I honestly would not think any patch is coming for at least a minimum of 3 months.. and even then that is hopeful thinking.

What reasons? I really don't understand why we can't even get patches for the game that have been made months ago. Did I miss a post somewhere where they stated the reasons they can't patch the xbox version? I would be very interested if there was a post. From what I've read all we get is the generic response of " we're looking into it " which simply doesn't cut it anymore after five months.

It's pointless asking for a real answer other than the same line we've been getting for six months now?   Image IPB
Sure there have been a few posts on other threads but the response has been the exact same thing every time, all I would like is some real answers, a timeline, anything to let us know when to actually expect something.
Simply saying "we're looking into it" for six months doesn't really inspire confidence, especially when they release an expansion with the same bugs carrying over and also adding new ones.
Honestly, after six months of this I'm beginning to have major doubts about this game ever getting fixed, there is just too much lack of communication, too much expecting us to just "wait and see" and maybe we'll get some fixes.

The Xbox version of Dragon Age was actually a port done by Edge of Reality.  It has been speculated that the bug fixes would also need to a team like Edge of Reality to port them over to the Xbox and it is a known fact that any update or fix has to go through Microsoft as well.
I emailed Edge of Reality and received a reply from their president stating that they are unable to comment but that posting in these forums is the best way to get a result.
If you would like to read the correspondance you can see it here:

Wathever is the reason, the fact is they are selling buggy products and aren't able to give quality and support to their customers.
I dont care the reason, what I care is to a have a good product since I spent good money for.

Wow yet another kick in the nuts. Instead of making any effort to fix the bugs BW has decided to release yet more micro DLC. Seriously, how the **** can they keep doing this and not even attempt to fix the ****ing original game. This is a complete joke.

Not to advocate dissent but if direct appeals and requests here fail then wouldn't the next course of action be to make the issue know in a more wider fashion. Submit columns to widely trafficked gaming blogs and the like such as Kotaku, as much as I want to love Bioware for the games they've put out in the past it needs to be made clear that there is a greater public demand than can be readily ignored on their proverbial doorsteps.

Nothing we do will make EA/BW fix this game. Lets face it, they have our money and as far as they are concerned that is the end of the story. They do not give a stuff about the game or their customers. I for one will be buying all BW games second hand in the future and will not be buying any DLC.

They can keep doing this because sadly people blindly buy up every single piece of DLC that gets released. This also worries me about recieving any type of fixes, if after six months people still blindly grab every DLC, big or small, with the amount of bugs still present it sends a bad message. Basicly it's saying we'll still give you more money even though nothing at all has been done to fix the game, which is sad really because one of the very few ways we can actually affect things is to use our wallets to send them a message. It was the same thing with the bazaar, one little carefully scripted letter and most people ate it up and dropped the new sigs and went crawling back without hesitation, it was very disappointing.
To be honest, until this game I was just as willing to buy up all of Bioware's games/DLC, most of them pre-ordered months in advance, but this game has really opened my eyes and I don't like what I see. It just seems like they are taking advantage of that blind loyalty and using it to exploit the fans, squeezing every dime out of people without giving any support whatsoever to the game fixes that are so desperately needed.

Still no word....this is very disappointing, I have to believe now that this game will never be fixed. No posts from devs, no info on patches, and more dlc to get more money, I mean $5 for some gifts that really should've been free...that's just sad. Even sadder is the amount of people still blindly grabbing every little thing that comes out instead of demanding that the game actually be fixed before they give them more money.

I think I've finally lost the last little bit of hope that I had for this game, seems the only responses we get for anything are simply damage control or vague responses about fixes that most likely will never come because they're too busy working in the next game to rush out full of bugs to take our money. I'm just very disappointed in what could have been a great game if they actually took the time to fix it.

The silence certainly is starting to tire, I am not the go to the forums and complain type, and whiel I in essence *approve* of an DLC model there priorities have the left game in rather a state. On consoles I can't attempt to fix these things myself, nor can I check any technical settings that may aid me. We are all stuck with a myriad of bugs that carry varying degrees of detriment and for some us the game is essentially un-playable.

I certainly am not about to run around and cry corporate greed from the hills and swear never to buy a Bioware game again, that'd be foolish for whatever faults they are still at the forefront of the type of games they make, games I genuinely enjoy. Nevertheless it's time they looked long at hard at the policies. I find it irresponsible to not keep even the active forum community abreast of any progress on these issues and if it IS purely a financial issue then bite the bullet and tell us.

I beleive that they have more respect for their product and that they would not abide knowing the game carried so many technical issues. Let's hope that beleif is true.
