As the title says, do you love or hate Anders, or maybe somewhere in between and post why.
For me personally, I hate Anders, given he's a mage and all, born and fated to be forever under the thumb of the Chantry. But since when is life ever fair? My human noble lost everything in Origins because of some greedy bastard that he couldn't really do anything to stop from happening. I just wish I could go on a verbal rampage on Anders about how we're all born in chains to society and that we've got to make the best of where we are, or have Sten come along and teach him a lesson about life.
He just makes me pissed as he isn't so different from the Warden who didn't really have a choice in the matter either about being a Grey Warden. Makes me think of adolescent teenagers who still has a lot of growing up to do. GAAAAH!!! *RAAAGE* Anyway, that's mainly what makes me so angry at Anders. I wish I had the option to change Ander's views on things so that he wouldn't be such a whiny, moany, kid. /end rant

I love Anders.
I love how he doesn't quit. He hates being a prisoner and being seen a monster for something he has no control over, and instead of just resigning himself to his fate, he fights it. If my PCs resigned themselves to their fates, they'd all be dead. He has a pretty good attitude about it, too. Much better than my Cousland or CE if they were in his place.

Like him. I don't love any of my Awakening Companions but Justice, but that's because he's interesting. Anders is an eternal optimist though, which I appreciate, and he's fun to keep around until I ride back to Alistair. I need some sort of sarcastic sidekick. It's just not the same without him.

He doesn't really complain about how his life sucks (he even tries to look on the bright side when he gets caught by Templars) or how much being a GW sucks and how he resents being conscripted. He does say once you do his quest and get his approval high enough that he thought being a GW would suck but he was wrong about that. All he really complains about is the overboard the Chantry goes and that's true. He has to be physically locked in a tower (some chains are more literal than others) and he actually sees being a GW as a form of freedom, which can take your character by surprise.
He also feels mages shouldn't use blood magic (unless you force it on him) and isn't for overthrowing the Chantry overnight because he knows it would just lead to chaos. It's believably that the huge pile of darkspawn corpses he's surrounded by when you first meet him were involved in the death of the Templars but Templar girl wants to kill him for it and even tries to kill him later in secret since Alistair/Anora told her no during his personal quest.

Love him. And love Sir Pounce-a-lot. If you don't love the cute widdle kittie you have no heart.

I love Ser Pounce a Lot but I was deeply saddened by the fact that he doesn't turn into an attack cat. I think I miss my mabari more than is healthy.

Love? Nuh uh. If he were real I wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers that's for certain.

You know, why isn't Ser Pounce-a-lot scampering about Anders' feet in the Vigil making cute kitty sounds? If I had to have Leliana and her friggin' nug in camp, I want the cat in my keep. >.>

Some interesting viewpoints, I think that is exactly what I needed, *breathes a sigh of relief* maybe now I won't hate him so much.

I didn't like Alistair. But I did like Anders. I have yet to know why precisely.

I love Ander's, he's one of the best party member's that you get. I'd trade him in for Morrigan lol. I never use her, she stays in camp.
Funny thing is Ander's doesn't hate the Mage's, that you can find out talking to Wynne. With the Templars it's a game to him. He's not an apostate, he doesn't hate being a mage, he just doesn't want to be under the chains of the tower. I'd be the same way. I wouldn't hate my life because I was born a mage, what I would hate is to be confined and being told what I can and can't do. That's the only problem Ander's has.
And having Ser Pounce-A-Lot really helps lmao

If we all just resigned ourselves to our fate, we would still have slavery, women wouldn't vote, Americans would have British accents and be paying exorbitant taxes for tea. Life isn't fair, but there is nothing wrong with trying to make it right.

Neither, but my issues have nothing to do with that, and they're fairly minor. Over all, he's a pleasant enough fellow. He likes small animals, that's a plus.....
I have no problems with him hating to be a captive. I have no problem with him complaining about it. My human noble may have lost her family, but it least she was raised free, to know she could do anything she wanted and treated with respect. Being a mage would suck, even if there are reasons for the situation.
Since when does one person's hard luck negate another's? No one has a right to complain but the PC? That's kind of whiny.

Hes a bit like Alistair to me, great fighter, but a little annoying at times. Anders really made me appreciate the healer class of magi.

Meh. Ser-Pounce-A-Lot was the cute part of that pairing. Anders got on my nerves after a while. I definitely preferred Alistair.

I quite liked Anders and Ser Pounce-a-lot, but I'm someone who enjoys a snarky sidekick. Missed Alistair of course, but I just finished the expansion and appreciated that Alistair was mentioned at the end as my character's one true love & all that other stuff in the epilogue.

He annoyed me. I dropped him as soon as I got Valenna, because she annoyed me less. Overall, the only companion I actually liked was Oghren.

Well. None of the chars have any fair amount of dialogues. Anders is quite the char, charmy and goofy.
Ser-Pounce-a-lot is all about the catnip.

I definitely adore Anders. I love that he probably should run off and hide when you stumble across him, but he offers to help. I love that he is shameless without being gross (Oghren). I love that is unabashedly affectionate with Sir Pounce. I love that despite the fact that he is a seemingly shallow, self-centered character he can be surprisingly compassionate . When I tried to burn down Amaranthine for the achievement of saving Vigil's Keep, his impassioned plea changed my mind. I then reloaded and took Velanna in his place. Fortunately, he was happy to see my PC back at the Keep.
So, yeah. Anders.
