Yes, party banter and team interaction. Make it happen, BioWare. It can't be a bad thing.

Just a quick idea.. but how about actually your screw members coming up to you and asking you for a conversation?

Garrus: Hey, Shep, got a minute?

Shep:

1) Sure!

2) Don't have time..

3) Can it wait, in the middle of nowhere..

4...

that obviously shouldn't happen too often as it might get annoying but it would be a nice change for once.. I know that you got those people standing around some levels waving their hands at you so that you end up walking up to them to start the conversation but wouldn't it be nice if they were actually the people doing that? :)

I also miss the "post-mission-debriefings" from ME1, where the entire team would assemble in the comms-room after a plot quest and discuss the events that took place.

Current status rapport feels more of "wtf". You can try too fool yourself that:
*at the same time soemwhere in the galaxy*
IM opens the rapport and reads

But its just not working.

Afaik, the debriefings are still there after story mission (same as ME1). Sure, you dont get the whole gang. Instead you have TIM, Miranda and Jacob.

more struggles and talking between your companions is great, more like KOTOR 2.

More party banter and interaction between people on the Normandy would be awesome. Please make it happen, Bioware!

This kind of eavesdropping interaction was common in Kotor 2 and even appeared somewhat in Dragon Age when you talked to the Dog in camp, (since the dog couldn't talk himself, you would witness him having encounters with other team mates)

This is a great idea. To those saying you don't want to have to go find where squaddies are to get the extra conversations. It would be very doable for them to placed in such ways that they seem natural. For example say Kelly informs you that Tali needs to talk to you (loyalty trigger) on your way down to her you find Zaeed and Jack talking about whatever outside the cargo bay. Or you need to do some upgrades so you head into Mordin's lab only to find Garrus talking to him. There are tons of possibilities for this stuff as you go about business as usual on the Normandy.

There already is a lot of this in game, just not with your squad. Rupert and the diners, the flight crew just outside the cockpit, Ken and Gabby, EDI and Joker, the 2 in the living quarters. It would be awesome to find your squad interact like the crew extras do.

If you stop and listen, Ken and Gabby are hilareous.

And a certain cut scene is changed if Tali is on the ship before a certain interaction with the pair, which is a really nice touch.

Maybe I am too detail orientated, but I think all the squadmates lack a certain amount of private interests. How about interests for music, arts, literature, sports, fashion, politics? Is the job the only thing people are occupied with in the 22nd century? The Cerberus Daily News constantly report about something in this matter, so some guys have to care obout it.

All right Mordin really seem to live for his work, but despite some family matters the whole squad seem to have no other center in live than it's work. Make me a little bit sad.:(

Mordin was one of the better characters, IMO. And he did display an interest in music.

Yes, that's right, his musical performance was one of the social highlights in the game. Still I wished there were more moments like this.

yes it would be more interesting if the squad mates would move around the ship and talking eachother and instead of shepard going to see how garrus's calibrations are going you would instead summon your squad mates to your captain quarters to talk with them, it would give captain quarters more meaning in the ship, also I would like to see dragon age kind of "morality" meter on each squad mate and to improve that you would need to do stuff they like (decisions on mission and doing stuff on normandy like training/playing cards)

Party members wandering the ship isn't really a good idea. Keeping them in the same place may seem artificial, but it also ensures that the player always knows where to find them. On a military vessel like the Normandy, plopping each member of the team in a fixed location and having most of them performing some unspecified ship duty just works better for videogame purposes.

Team banter in towns and additional teammate dialogue during missions would be awesome, though.

how about making the team members wander around on their room on the ship.

they are always standing/sitting at the same console/table/desk. very artificial, making them move around in their own rooms makes them less static a little more alive. also crew members walking the corridors might be nice, perhaps even make the crew members interact with the squadmates would be nice.

for example walking in on kelly having a chat with kasumi. which you could then interupt or listen to :P

ya this is a good idea, but do you want it to happen all the time even when your not close enough to hear? like everyone's going around doing their own business whenever they want because that way you can sneak up on them mid conversation and don't really know fully what they're talking about.

Or do you want it that squadmates walk around and appear and different places, but only start talking once your close enough. and then you can either listen or leave

Indeed.

Particularly since Bioware had group banter in

Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate 2
KOTOR
Neverwinter Nights:  Hordes of the Underdark
Mass Effect- though generally limited to elevators
Dragon Age: Origins

In other words, every single game that allowed the player to take more than one companion with them.  The lack of it in ME 2 is really jarring.

Ever since the first game I had always hoped that Mass Effect would adopt the KotOR 2 practice of having small cutscenes involving companions triggering whenever you returned to The Normandy.

I actually did not like those cutscenes in KOTOR2.  All they ever did was whine and argue and hate on each other.  There was very little crew unity being shown in any of those cutscenes.  I'd rather not have a completely dysfunctional crew.

However, if there were a few cutscenes, or let's say that you entered a certain part of the ship and it triggers a cutscene for a couple of your crew members playing some galactic game or debating something or maybe just a couple of them trying to figure each other out (like Shepard is always trying to figure people out), I'd be very happy.  Even happier if Shepard could pull up a chair and sit down to join in.  I just don't want every scene to be one of total mistrust like in KOTOR2.

I agree. Since  the atmosphere and ambiente in almost every single player rpg with a story driven content benefits from social interactions with and among your companions, I really hope Bioware increases the depth of the characters by letting them make more comments or even start discussions among each other.

Yeah like Ash and Kaiden's dialog in Chora's Den in Mass Effect 1 and the banter between the characters in Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age: Origins-Awakening

Ash: "A million light years from where humanity began and we wind up in a bar where men are staring at half naked girls shaking their asses on stage. I don't if that's funny or sad."

Kaiden: "What, you don't think there here for food?"

Or all the dialog in the elevators.

It adds something to characters and makes the game more interesting.

Better yet whenever you board the Normandy they talk to you about important things like the Loyalty Missions instead of having Kelly be the messenger girl. Sorta like how in DA:O when you entered camp your party would come up to you to talk about plot things, like Alistair's comment after you save/kill Connor. Or an update on loyalty/romance such as Leliana.
