I'd like to see it. Worked especially well in KotOR II, I thought.
A suggestion for Bioware to add some atmosphere and team spirit on the Normandy in ME3

I support this! I'd love to see Garrus chatting with Thane, or Miranda maybe flirting with Jacob (if you didn't romance either), or maybe Chakwas and Joker discussing Kaidan and Ashley from ME1. That would be so amazing!
Please BioWare, take this into account.

I'm all for this as well. For example, who didn't love the banter between Garrus and Tali in Zakera Ward?
'I have a shotgun.'
'We'll continue this some other time.'

I am all for this.
I would at least like to see some Dragonage style random conversation.
I would also like to see your squad mates react to events; Kasumi seems to be the only one who comments missions or events.
For instance when I said I was going to wake up Legion, Jacob said that Tali was not going to like it and I fully expected her to give out to me during my next conversation but it never happened.
I have to say that this disappointed me, I mean here I was her Commander, someone that she trusted, turning on a Geth, she'd have everyone right to be annoyed but she never mentions it.
A few extra bits of dialogue like that would be nice, not every squad mate would have to comment on every mission, but it would be nice if they said something about a mission or an event that was relevant to them.
Another thing that bothered me was that after a confrontation (Miranda v Jack or Tali v Legion) neither of the people involved ever mention it again and you’d like that would have something to say about it.

Definitely want to see this implemented. This along side the idea of other personal interests for characters is what will make a much more believable crew who feel alive. I'll buy two copies of ME3 if ME3 features this!

Some random squad banter would be preety cool. Also, some music on the normandy would also be nice. It's kinda dull sometimes when you walk around your ship and the only thing you hear is some distant chatter and the sounds of engines and computers. An option like in your private quarters and the back of the SB base would have been nice in creating a better ambient. I did glitch the music from the galaxy map a couple of times and it didn't stop until you went on a mission. It was preety nice, totaly different ambience on the ship.

I definitely support. Though I'd want the teamspirit improved otherwise too:
1. I'm the Commander. I shouldn't have to do mining or piloting of Normandy myself if I don't want to
2. The same on planets. If I'm a soldier and Tali is my hacker I shouldn't have to do hacking or bypass minigames (I could do them myself though)
3. Teammates should be able to revive me
That's three really simple things that would make the game feel a lot more real
4. Using vehicles should be a team effort. It involves driving, shooting, navigation/communications, repairing and possibly more. It's dull I do all of it myself
Plus lost teammates wouldn't be a problem if you could ask EDI or use the communication channels and ask someone to come meet you

Party banter/interaction on ship and during missions for the win!

I must say the rumor about multiplayer in ME3 does not fill my heart with hope for deeper rpg elements in the final part. Hopefully Bioware will surprise us all in a positive way - at the moment I keep being optimistic - it's all we can do.

Count me in for this. I've been playing Kotor again, and it's made me realize how quiet the Normandy really is.

Couldn't agree more, KOTOR and especially KOTOR2 had a good feel for the squad interaction, please incorporate.

It's a GREAT idea OP, I hope BioWare implements it. In fact, this is one of the main reasons for which I love so much FanFics, they really expand into the character's background.

Have I posted on this yet? It’s so hard to keep track, this has come up more then once….Anyway yes I’d like them to do things when they have nothing to say to me so instead of Garrus Calibrating 90% of the time he can at least be found around the ship 20% of the time eating, helping Tali, or talking to well anyone.
If I see him I can go over press A and have a small conversation with him on different subjects just small talk here it would really help to alive the annoyance generated by him calibrating and me wanting to say hi only I have to go down the elevator run through the cafe and findout his too busy to talk to me at least if I see him doing things with others I figure he’s busy. Same goes for all crewmen when they aren’t busy they’re either at stations, talking, or at another's station assisting.
If they have something to say EDI can page you or if you ignore their pages x amount of times they’ll show up in your cabin to tell you about it. For instance I always ignore Miranda when it comes time for her help me with my daddy issues talk well after about the third try by her she would show up on the CIC, briefing room , or in my cabin to talk to about it sense to her its obviously pressing and this way if I just ignore her she won’t calm up and not allow me to do the upgrades I didn’t get from her before hand.
I should also add more fights maybe you walk by and Jack and Zeed are having it out not a CG moment like in 2 but I could stop them and see what is going on? They’re upset about X and so now I’m going to have to make them see that problem X was a misunderstanding between then and I’ll need to take them out together on curtain missions to improve their communications with one another. This would work with usually non combative people like Tali and Garrus say I’m not using them much and they’re tired of being cooped on the ship and they’re getting on each others nerves I’ll find them fighting or talking sternly to one another and have to start bring them out together on missions they can handle as a team. I know when this subject comes up we all focus on the plus moments but I felt 2’s two negative moments were too few and come on in real life could I really solve Jack and Miranda’s issues in one stern talk? NO it would be several and possibly their decks would be vandalized in their midnight raids on the others stations.
Some people in Battle Star just never got along with one another Fstarbuck was constantly in a love, hate, admire, loath relationship with everybody on the ship those liking her one moment would wish her death later on in the series there was only temporary fixes and never permanent ones if any could be found with her and person x at all.

its probably too difficult to program. way too many permutations and chances for crashes, bugs and glitches.

I prefer characters didn’t wander.
Just give players access to a map that represents a cross section of the entire ship, and have the crews current locations mapped out each time. You could also ask EDI/Kelly or use your terminal.
The Normany also inside *super* huge. considering that they'll most likely never be in your cabin if you're not there (that would be a little creepy) then they'd always either be in CIC, Crew Quarters, or engineering. And if you think about it, in reality they'd probably have a higher probably of being in the Crew Quarters then anyone else. No one but Mordin has any business being in the science lab. And most people wouldn't be interested in going to places like life support or the AI core or the reactor.
Then again, keeping them in one unique spot is probably better game design, overall.

"Tali would visit Joker in his cockpit" EDI would not approve of this! Joke aside, i love the idea.

Sorry I didn't take the time to read all if this ideal was already talked about.
What about a Captain's Mess, where all get together to eat chat, joke and enjoy each others company. Not just before a big battle.
And, don't forget the lounge onboard.

I generally thought that the interaction with you crew fell pretty short in both ME games. I mean what was it ? Like 2-3 conversations per crewmember (plus another 2-3 for your romance)...than it's all "Can't it wait a bit ? I'm in the middle of some calibrations ?"
I hope they really expand on that front for the final entry in the triology.

While this is kinda thread necromancy, I'll pretend nothing happened since the OP makes so much sense that someone, somewhere at Bioware just felt his/her ears burning.
Seriously Bio, DO IT.

This idea reminds me allot of Wing commander 1. You would sit down at the bar and get into a random conversation between 2 or 3 squad mates if I remember correctly. I would love this being implemented more in ME 3

I think it's a good idea. The ship is awfully quiet for as many people as it has. A rec room of sorts would be cool.
The mess hall?
