Uhm, there actually is stuff like that already?
Like the two crewmembers talking about their family on the third floor, or our two lovely engineers in the engine room. Even the squadmembers get into fights (Miranda vs Jack & Tali vs Legion).
In fact there are small conversations everywhere on the ship and in cities where you can listen to your crew or citizens. at some points your squadmembers also talk to each other or at least comment on certain locations.

The only thing I'd like to see improved is more talk among the squadmembers since those are pretty rare.

While we're on this topic of more dynamic squad interractions aboard the Normandy, can you PLEASE let us post a guard in EDI's computer core with Legion??? I realize he's "on our side" for the time being, but leaving a Geth alone in the computer core of our ship is just......stupid.

Might have been mentioned, but I think the Dragon Age 2 thing would fit pretty well. (And given the back-and-forth between BW games, it wouldn't surprise me if something like this happened.)

As in, you go visit Garrus. Find him discussing sniper rifles with Zaeed. Who gets one more line in, nods at you and leaves.

You check up on Grunt, and he's sparring with Jack. They decided not to use weapons, so they only broke half the room. You then get to scold them. (Or join in, I suppose.)

What's Joker doing? He's arguing with Kaidan, who would like a co-pilot seat. EDI calmly and infuriatingly points out this is redundant.

Eeeetcetera.

Those are some great suggestions Eeeetcetera.

It certainly beats having squad-members segregated at all times, except for the rare end of mission cut-scene. I don’t need to see characters literally moving from place to place; I just want them to appear in different locations across the ship from time to time, so I don’t get the feeling I have them locked away in various cells across the ship.

Again I think the developers made some great improvements in Dragon Age 2 and I expect to see more improvements in ME3. I think this helps to further invest the player in the stories characters, making any threat they are possibly exposed to more evocative.

I can certainly imagine some "banter" I'd like to see in the future...

Having them play a round of strip poker. Pity that Tali won't be able to join in.

And Jack losing the entire game in one bad hand.

Another innovation I greatly enjoyed in Dragon Age 2 was occasionally when returning to my estate I would find a companion their waiting to speak with me. That is another nice detail that I hope we can expect in Mass Effect 3, having our squadmates come to captain's cabin rather then wait Shepard to make the rounds.

This is a great idea. How they choose to implement it, if at all would be another discussion. I think it would take minimal effort to implement something of what they've done in the dragon age series.

A) Party banter has been mentioned profusely. This is a must.

2) They could do as in DA2 where at times when you go to have a dialogue with a certain crew member you get a brief cut-scene wherein you see them chatting with someone else in your gang.

Ex: when you go to meet Isabela at the bar and see she's been playing cards with Merril, or when you go to meet Fenris in his mansion and find Isabela trying to get into his pants. You know, stuff like that!

Of course it would be more interesting if the Ship was it's own little persistent world where people moved around, ate, slept, socialized. I think that would be asking much. Though it would be the idea.

This. +1

I have faith that they will look across the room to the DA devs and scribble down a few notes.

Having squadmates randomly hanging around certain public areas, in addition to their defined personal spaces would add a lot to the sense of liveliness in the Normandy. This would also open up opportunities for squadmate banter when different squadmates appear together in the same spot.

I don't think I heard that suggested over hearing the squad banter like you did in ME would be great maybe Samara and Garrus talking about his time on Omega and Samara hinting she may need to kill him or Tali and Legion if you para resolved their issue in ME2 they're trying Tali's still uncomfortable but trying to get beyond it and if you ren solved their issue it's insinuated that they're not getting along so well kind of like that scene in wild wild west where West is talking to Mcgraph at a party about how women will just cut the legs out from under you sense he's in a wheel chair and he retorts with something just as snide towards West to the outside observer you could almost say it was a typical topic but they both knew otherwise and took jabs freely I'd imagine both Tali and Legion doing this for ren solves.

Maybe the guard is on coffee break whenever we visit him? But seriously the guard was only there when Legion was sleeping now that he's up I'd like a guard and a ceiling gun in there and then if that fails a fail safe for EDI to blow the room if Legion attempts to hack her. I'd prefer to give him a job down in engineering with Tali so her, both of her staff members, grunt, zeed, and jack can watch him.

Would be cool to see this since Shepard is the only person that moves on the ship

I second this.
In X-Men Legends, depending on whom you have in your party, they occasionally have special dialogue amongst themselves.
And I liked in the KOTOR series you'd occasionally have two squadmates start bickering with each other out of thin air. (like Bastilia and Mission on Telos).

Although I am aware of the fact that the squadmates in  ME1 and 2 don't have to like each other I cannot believe that they are going going to spend so much time together on a "small" vessel without socializing among each other.

There are a lot of SciFi TV series (SG Atlantis, Firefly, etc.)  in which the major characters spend some spare time together, talking, gambling, exercising or just hanging around. In ME Shepard seems to be the only one who seeks the company of his crewmates.
Wouldn't it be better and maybe more realistic if for example Tali would visit Joker in his cockpit to talk about old times or starship technology? Or if Shepard would bump into Jacob and Garrus discussing about favorite weapons or fighting maneuvers, Thane and Samara philosophising in front of the window of the observatory lounge? There are lots of possibilities to deepen the emphasis with each squadmember - future and current ones...

Agree..

Mass Effect each team mate feels very self contained, anti-social...and your conversation is generally only 1 on 1.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one to find this nerve wrackingly precarious. How about we find another room for the 'Kill all human's' robot, besides for the room that essentially decides whether or not people on the ship live or die.

That's about as smart as seating monkey in the emergency exit ailse on a plane and painting the release lever banana-yellow. Sure the flight might go fine

'he hasn't had a banana in months!'- you say.

Well I'm not buying it! Get that monkey a different seat! .. And lock up the bananas.

I found it hilarious that despite their initial fears that he might hack EDI, they let him sit in the AI Core for the rest of the game. Herpa-derp.

It's funny, during the scene you recruit him I really would have chosen to keep that force field up a while longer.

You could have shepard do team building exercises with the crew, I hear the Human knot is popular this time of year.

Legion vs. Mordin playing cards in the mess hall.

I can see it now...
Legion: What is the purpose of these pieces of plastic with symbols and numbers writen on them?
Mordin: Humans play this for relaxing and socializing. It is a good way to entertain and make new friends.
Legion: But why use money and plastic shaped discs if the purpose is for relaxing and socializing?
Mordin: Hmmm, good question. Perhaps in order to develop a quick thought process. Or maybe in order to show off their manly bravado. Perhaps it has something to do with humans desires to gloat?

Jacob walks up.
Jacob: Actually it's so you can take everyone elses money.
Mordin: Hmm, game of chance then. Very well lets play.
Legion: What is the use of us obtaining money? We do not need any of the human currency.

I am getting excited hoping that we soon learn some of the improvements the developers have made to Normandy’s environment.

It looks like the Alliance may have made some improvements, and we may have a whole host of new characters to interact with.

Hopefully they can breathe some life into the operations aboard the Normandy so it doesn’t appear so static throughout the course of the game.
