Origins:
- Framerate:
At first I did not notice the framerate issue, but that was largely because I was playing on an 11-yr old TV that was only 19 inches (I could barely read the codex it was so small). After upgrading to a 42 inch LCD TV, however (merry christmas to me), the framerate problem is very obvious, most notably during cutscenes. It can best be described as trying to watch a streaming movie on the internet with a 56k modem ... jump skip and jump and skip. This is still an issue in Awakening as well.
- Dex Bug:
Huge disappointment to find out after dumping so many points in dex on my dagger rogue that this bug existed. Adding points in Dex is supposed to increase the damage of both daggers and bows, however, while it seems to be adding the damage properly to bow weapons, daggers are unaffected. This is still an issue in Awakening as well.
- Radial Menu Reversal:
Occasionally, when pulling up the radial menu, the action of the game mistakenly continues while the radial menu is up and pauses when it is brought down ... the opposite of what is supposed to happen. Not sure how this one manages to pop up; I have tried unsuccessfully to recreate it, but it seems to just occur randomly. Not a gamebreaker, though, as simply hitting the Select button to pull up the main menu, then again to exit it, usually resets it. This is still an issue in Awakening as well.
-Voice Overs Randomly Cutting Out:
Talking to someone, having a nice conversation, then without warning, their voice sounds like it's coming from the other side of a series of walls. Rather annoying if you don't have subtitles on, especially since you then have to respond to them having no idea what they just said. I have not experienced this issue in Awakening ... yet.
-Persistant Quest Icons:
With certain quests that involve multiple ways to complete, completing them in one way will still leave the quest icon hovering over the NPC's head who you're supposed to talk to in order to complete it a different way. Since the quest is already completed, there is nothing that can further be done and the icon just sits there for the rest of the entire game serving as a continuous misguiding beacon. This is still an issue in Awakening as well.
-Looting:
After almost every combat encounter, I have to run around in circles for up to 30 seconds before I exit combat and combat music ceases, but sometimes I have to wait even longer before the corpses bleed out and I can loot them. Sometimes, some corpses are lootable while others are not, but after moving further through the level and returning, some of the ones that were not lootable, suddenly are. This seems to have gotten worse and worse with each playthrough of Origins, but has somehow improved in Awakening ... but only in Awakening.
And now for ...
Awakening: (I played an imported character with a retail-disc)
-Super Lag:
Many many many times, throughout the expansion, especially right after auto-saves or fighting mages, I would experience serious lag in the gameplay ... as if my computer didn't have enough resources to handle the game ... but it's on my PS3 so it should run just fine. Never had a problem like this when playing through Origins.
-Missing Codex Entries:
There are certain title lines in the codex that are simply blank. Upon selecting them, their corresponding codex entry is also blank. It is difficult to identify exactly which ones are missing, but it appears to be mostly just ones from the Origins game. In fact, I noticed on one of the loading screens early on where it listed my accomplishments, next to "Most Powerful Foe Slain:" it was simply blank. I fairly certain it should have read "High Dragon" or "Archdemon." Whether these are actually seperate or related bugs, I am unsure.
-Certain Sounds Cutting Out:
In the very beginning of Awakening at Vigil's Keep, right after the cutscene where the mad bombing dwarf blows everything to oblivion, all sounds other than the music, some voice overs, and one or two others just stopped. This persisted until I reached the roof, where it all just suddenly went back to normal and I had no other similar occurrences for the rest of the expansion.
-Extensive Extended Arms:
After defeating the darkspawn on the roof of Vigil's Keep, both of Mhairi's arms were being held up and out like she was doing an air pullup. I reloaded my last save and defeated the darkspawn again, only this time, one of Oghren's arms as well as one arm of my main character were in a similar position. I don't know how long this would have persisted because I reverted back to the original save where Mhairi was the only one affected ... and well after the joining, that was that. I didn't have any other similar occurrences until the very end of the game in the cutscene after defeating the Mother, one of Justice's arms was affected.
-Stuck on the Batllements Walkway:
As I was exploring Amaranthine on my first visit to the city, I began walking across the defensive walkways above the city. As I went through a door, I found myself on a walkway on the front wall of the city. Immediately, I was put into combat mode due to some thugs on the ground below. I was able to target and take out one group with my archer, but could not get line of sight on the other group. Thus, I was stuck in combat with no way of getting down because on either side of this walkway is a closed door ... which I can't go through while in combat. Even worse, it had been a long while since my last save, but I guess that part was my own fault.
-Smuggler / City Guard Quest:
After talking to the smuggler outside of Amaranthine, he gives me a quest. As I walk into the city, I see the guard has a quest, so I talk to him. In so doing, the smuggler quest bugs out. I begin the guard quest, finish it and now the guards won't talk to me because I talked to the smuggler ... huh? So unable to continue the smuggler quest and I can't turn in the guard quest. I assume you can do one or the other if you only talk to one, but won't know for sure until my next playthrough.
Sentinel Armor Looks Wrong:
-Upon equipping the Sentinel Armor on Justice, I noticed that all but the helm looked just like the Warden Commander's Armor from the Warden's Keep DLC. I didn't think much of this at first because as a former WoW player, I'm used to developers recycling armor models. However, upon equipping this armor onto Oghren, it looked VERY different. So I'm assuming it's using the wrong model on humans. Was unable to test it on a male or female elf or female human as there were none with high enough strength in this playthrough.
-Velanna Appears / 5-man Party:
It is my goal on my first playthrough to recruit every possible recruitable character, but I didn't like Velanna because she's a bit of a wench. So when I was forced to include her in my party just after recruiting her in the Wending Wood, I traveled back to Vigil's Keep to "drop her off" and then returned to the Silverite Mine with my original party makeup. Upon defeating the twin dragons, Velanna just appeared at my side much like a ranger pet. I still had all of my other party members; I could control them, but not Velanna. However, when I went to the inventory menu, I could edit her gear and tactics as well as everyone else. She continued to follow my party and even fought in combat as I went to Amaranthine and other places. Only when I went inside Vigil's Keep and came back out, did she cease be the 5th wheel.
-Killing the Messenger:
After saving Amaranthine near the end, the guard asks me what I want him to do with the Messenger sent by the Architect. I selected to "Kill him" but after completing the game, I am told in the ending synopsis, that I let him go free.
-Kill the Mother ... Twice:
After defeating the Mother, there was a cutscene in which my character stabs her in the face, followed by the ending synopses. After the last synopsis, the cutscene replayed.
I'm sure there are others that I have forgotten since I'm doing this all from the top of my head and Awakening was buggy as an antfarm, but I'll just add those in later.
