I have notice that some people get the glitch and other people have no problem in the mine. I stand in the latter group. I had no problem. I do not know why some do and some do not. I do know it can make the bug difficult to nail down. But a bug that occurs across platforms is BioWare's fault. Some bugs are platform specific. If the bug occurs on the consoles it is a programming error. The specifications for consoles is a known quantity.
The PC on the other hand is different. The PC has many combinations of equipment and sofware interactions. Some bugs are programming errors which should be nailed down. Others may be a convergence of different problems from obsolete drivers to software running in the background. These types are difficult to find and correct.

The DLC gear that does not transfer over well is from Warden's Keep. DLC from Stone Prisoner and RTO import properly. The Silverite mine bug occurs if you are using items from Warden's Keep and/or if you character is an arcane warrior. The fourth experimental subject that has your gear is bugged. If you have no Warden's Keep DLC and/or not an Arcane warrior it does not appear to happen (but I could be wrong).

OR if your character is an arcane warrior, your saves get corrupted and then you have to delete them like my fiance' had to do when he started Awakening for the first time.50 hours of gameplay in DA:O lost because Awakening has a sh!t load of bugs. The game also froze twice in a row for him when he first started Awakening in the beginning scene with Mhairi, even after restarting our Xbox.<_<

You are wrong, I have neither Warden's Keep (the only DLC I have are free DLC like TSP and promotional DLC) nor any mod and I had this bug in my first playground (with a warrior). Fortunately I had a save just before entering the Silverite mines so I had only the mines to replay.

The only DLC item I still had at this time was the Harvest Festival Ring but removing only the ring didn't solve the bug. If I remember correctly the only other items I still had form the OC was the Keening Blade but I have not tried to remove only the Harvest Festival Ring and the Keening Blade.

Some people think that the reason why this bug happens is because the experimental subject cannot wear all of our items, as the Keening Blade is limited to Warrior it could be an explanation in my case.

Is a man not entitled to play a game without bugs?

No says the man in Bioware, he cannot. He must deal with those obvious bugs that should be eliminated at the testing process of the expansion(like sigrum and justice approval bugs)

I've probably clocked 60 hours into Awakening with about 12 hours of actual progression; the rest of it was reload, restart, create new character...ugh.

What does being an Arcane Warrior have to do with bugs? I made one and now I'm worried....

Her personal quest (from when she was a duster in Orz) - it triggers when you go into the city, to the right, up toward the chantry/inn. She'll bump into another dwarf. However... and this is the problem... if you've picked up Law & Order (from the constable) or the Smuggler version of it, her trigger won't show up at all, & you can't get her quest.

You also can't get it, apparently, if you got the 100% approval glitch.

I was at 34, couldn't stand it, & started my mage & warrior over - I wanted her in those parties. I left it alone on my rogue, since she wasn't in the party for him. But yes, it's pretty frustrating.

eta:  The problem is, you'll undoubtedly go to Amaranthine first, & those are the first quests you'll see.  I can't imagine anyone wouldn't grab one of them.  Therefore, you have to be informed here to avoid it.  Why they don't have a notice on their 'news' blurb when you load the game, I don't know.  They should also have a warning & tips for the Mine glitch. Those are the worst. (I get the approval one on Velanna, Sigrun & Justice, but it doesn't bother his personal quest - no idea why.)

wtf did they even release the expansion

oh yah $$ and EA

all hail ElectroWareArts!!! words can't describe what this ****ing company has fallen to......

Haha, this is epic thread. :D

Save more often! Use the quick saves! Sure, since 1.03 the game(DA:O and DA:A) crashes 1/3 of all times you save/load a game.. but hey, at least it's a save.

And one more thing. Double save. If it crashes when saving/loading, sometimes the save file becomes corrupt and cannot be accessed :D

It's funny because I can see the character in your avatar going off on a rant like this.

Her toon looks awesome. Also I've seen many others have this issue it's one to throw into the huge growing list of issues with the expansion It's just pure fail. Sorry you lost your stuff.... I know the feeling

I have had no problem with the Silverite Mine yet, but I save a lot because my game crashes about 20% of the time whenever any mage in my party casts Mana Clash. A bit annoying really.

try setting your affinity to 1 core (assuming you have multi)...it's fixed my crashing but the game suffers a framerate loss that get's worse the longer you play...it's a shoddy "fix" that I wouldn't even call one...but it may get you by this problem temporarily at least.

well it still leaves you with these bull**** bugs to deal with..but it may stop the crashing

I don't think they will fix Awakening anytime soon, because if they do, with all the bugs gone, you will notice how short and shallow it is. From a cost-benefit perspective Awakening was a real letdown, i really don't hope that's the direction Bioware is going.

and my LAST SAVE IS THREE GODDAMN HOURS AGO

While the glitch is annoying, your main problem is right here.

That's not  a fair assumption, every RPG I've ever played I've lived off of auto saves and quick saves, I've never had the need to make individual titled saves. Apparantly in DA:A it's become a damn requirement.

PC gaming perhaps.  Longtime console gamers like myself are compulsive about saving.

That is why people pay for their software... in the expectation that a company will stand behind their product and support it.

I would love to sell you a car, and know that you would just accept that any breakdowns and factory defects are your own responsibility to fix.

So run along now, kid. You've had your penny's worth of fame. And don't forget, there are tokens at the door.
