If you think they're so inept, don't buy/play any more of their games. Your blood pressure isn't worth it.

For my pleasure, what bugs? Game works perfectly fine for me. *shrug*

Inept companies don't ebcome as successful as BIO has. *shrug*

learn to read.

inept now.  Bio WAS good...this expansion is an abortion...$40..even without bugs is WAY to high for all we got with it...with the bugs and crap it's something, as I already said, a ****ing retard would be embarrassed to put out.

BioWare was great however the current trend is disturbing..and honestly...I already refuse to buy Bethesda BS anymore because of bugs....so...if this dog**** doesn't get fixed soon...not supporting BioWare is EXACTLY the route I'm going to go.

which will be a shame, as I said (if you could read apparently), because they've been my TOP dev for more years then I can remember (since at least Baldur's Gate 1)

The fact that you were lucky doesn't mean that the game is not heavily bugged. Just by curiosity, were you able to do Sigrun personal quest? Although minor, the fact that we cannot do her personal quest if we follow the logical order of quest is also a bug.

Personally, I am in my second playground and in both I suffered from a different major bug, this is much more that I have encountered in any other game.
And the fact that, more than 2 weeks after the release of a so bugged game, there is not even a beta hotfix for the most important bugs is really disappointing for me (and I would have expected more from any game developer).

@Everyone that demands patches soon : if you are so smart to order BioWare around, why don't you try fixing the bugs? You think it's easy to do?

You mean like the DLC-Import that the Modders fixed?
Or the Shaperate Rewards that the Modders fixed?
Or the Stealing Bug that the Modders fixed?
Or +Healing Received that the Modders fixed?
Or the Dialogue/Romance Bugs with Zevran and Leliana that the Modders fixed?
Or the Pet Tactics Bug that the Modders fixed?
etc.

And lets not forget the Annoyance Remover and Dragon Age redesigned. Some of the (human) NPCs in the unmodded Awakening look like Aliens. (Makes one wonder who was hired to do these designs? Cleaning woman? Random construction guy from next door? Aliens?)

And I just love the logic of people like the guy quoted above: If the thing that you paid for does not work, fix it yourself. Like when you buy a burger that is 100% cockroaches instead of beef: you start shooting cattle and make a fire. Under no circumstance this would ever be grounds for complaint, right?

These bugs are so obvious and gamebreaking, there is no way they could have missed them even with a minimal amount of testing. Runes not working? Naked Warden in the intro? Silverite Mine Bug? Keep Upgrade Bug? Follower Bugs? etc.

Sorry, but I do not believe for a second that they did not know about these when they released this pile of dung. Its just that customers like the one quoted above are not worth a finished product. Why waste time and money on bugfixing when the people people you sell to are so complacent. (Which, I suspect, has something to do with not having earned the money they spend on games. As long as Daddy pays it does not matter if the product is sub-standard.)

Yah it's pretty ****ty that WE have had to fix bugs that BioWare couldn't even seem to ****ing notice or care about..

it's funny how, IF they even ****ing tested it, they didn't catch bugs players caught within minutes and FIXED within hours.

and they STILL can't acknowledge the game-breaking issues...

I've read on another thread that upping your inventory with more backpacks could be related to the "losing all your cool gear in the mines" bug. I've only played through twice, but on the second playthrough with no extra inventory it didn't bug out for me. YMMV

I make a living writing software (not games though) and I think it's safe to say that all software has bugs. What's unforgivable in this case is that all you have to do is PLAY the game to find them. This isn't a case of weird key combos or tweaks breaking it. As others have said, if you follow the logical progression of quests you break a companion quest. How was that not found? For me, about 1/3 of the big battles crash. If you save either Sigrun or Velanna for last, you have to run back to the keep before finishing the related quests in order to do their joining or it's off to the end-game for you.

I think being annoyed and feeling cheated on the price is more than fair.

That said, voting with your wallet is probably more effective than the internet equivalent of a temper tantrum. The developers can only do what they're allowed to do (and admitting to major bugs is probably something they've been forbidden). Software companies are like any other and swearing at the peon who's convenient won't change any policies.

Heh, I just managed to fix one in DAO that required writing two extra lines of code.  REALLY short lines.  And it was an obvious one.  It's very nice that they have the tools available for this.  I just wish they'd give the modders the tools to start fixing awakening!

Thank you for your efforts btw. They should pay you or give you some Bioware-Points so you can get (and fix) more of their stuff. Although, quite honestly, I wish your work was not necessary.;)

Sounds good to me!  I do agree, it is too bad it's necessary, especially since people on consoles can't use mods.  But at least the tools ARE there.

Here's a case in point on why you want to manually save every so often. Sure, in an ideal world no game would have any bugs, ever. While BioWare is certainly responsible for fixing any bugs, umm, the fact that you didn't choose to manually save the game every so often is kind of your mistake. You could have saved anywhere along the way, and thus saved yourself a fair amount of frustration just by being prepared. Obviously, doing so does not solve the bug problem, but you could probably have stored your DLC gear in Vigil's Keep or otherwise worked around it.

** Edit: unless you can't save manually. if there's a legitimate reason why you can't save, then it definitely sucks. If you can save and choose to be lazy however, then that's on you.

Finally gamers that share my enthusiasm...this expansion is a joke played it once and shelved it played origins about 10 times...the thing that annoyed me most was the vigiliance and sentintel skin bugs...really how cant you even get the skins right for one sword and armor (the two best in the game IMO), dont expect any patches dude Bioware has been to busy with thier BBBB (Bioware Bonanaza Bash Bull****) or whatever the hell it is.

Hmmm, there are bugs, and then there are game breaking bugs. Not all bugs in DAO can be fixed by lots of saves, but the game is good enough that people overlook them or at least just deal with them.  Awakening is just not good enough to deal with having to play a part 1, 2, or 3 hours again because of a gamebreaking bug.  I don't do many manual saves, and really, if I lost hours of a game, especially a short one like Awakening, I would probably just lose interest in the game.

I'd like to echo the sentiment that its the significance of the bug that matters. I have played DA:O 4 times and I am on my second time through DAO:A I encountered zero significant bugs all four times through Origins but Awakenings has tested my patients and I am a save every couple of minutes guy!!!!

Playing through the Silverite Mines 4 times cause I thought I was missing something as I couldn't find my gear was extremely frustrating and I wasted hours. What led to this was first time through I didn't get the bug, 2nd time as an AW I did so I couldn't understand there was even an issue.

But what annoyed me most was the quest issues with Sighrun, didn't even know she had one as I always got her last and went to Amaranthine straight away as I assume most people do.

I had the same prob as the OP, luckily I saved my game before the mines and only lost an hour or so, I was miffed though. Not as epic-rage miffed as the OP, but miffed. Just a heads up, to prevent the problem you don't have to equip crappy gear on your pc before you enter the mine, just strip your pc of all the inventory on their body instead. If your pc appears in the cage with the same crappy clothes as every one else, rather than being naked, then things are fine.

but I still have no drive to really finish this....I have NPCs with arrows on their heads that won't talk..so they seem bugged..I know I have Sigrun's bug...can't wait to see if I get the upgrade keep bug

what a ****ing abortion bioware..did we have special ed session while you developed this?
