I'm sure you all have noticed that a Scion's Shockwave is clearly anti-sheild. I was curious to know if it is the same for Shepard. If it isn't how much damage does it do?
Man, I can't wait to get home and play this game. So I'm going to sleep now, I'll reply in the AM.
Shockwave = Anti-Sheilds

shockwave for shepard only slightly staggers enemies with shields, not the damaging power that the scions have sadly

It does however do a very slight bit of damage to shielded enemies. VERY slight.
As in, at level 30, it takes ~8 heavy shockwaves to eliminate a Blue Suns trooper's shield. A single Predator bullet does more damage to shields.

this further points out the uselessness of shockwave on hardcore or insanity

Shockwave on Shepard is really useless, but on Jack it can be useful. (Insanity)

on any difficulty the longer "casting time" out of cover for it is a further detriment. otoh, shepard is probably a good bowler.

Shockwave would kind of be overpowered if it was anti shields.

But not everything can be looked at through the dirty glasses of Insanity.
On Veteran and lower, its a great ability. Its the easiest way to destroy large groups of Husks on the lower difficulties and does a great job on bridge sections like Thane's recruitment.
Yes, its useless on Insanity and Hardcore, I've never used it on any of those playthroughs, but not everything should be judged absolutely in that context. Not everyone likes to or can play at those difficulties.
And you have to admit that it has a certain "fun" factor to it. Not as cool as Charge, but still pretty entertaining.

Shockwave actually saved me on Hardcore during the IFF mission. I had points on it with my Vanguard because, well, I had the extra points to spend. Having to alternate between the Avalanche and my Assault Rifle as I fired against the husks and Reaper Core, shockwave gave me the second I needed during the switch... Part of that was luck, too. It also came in handy once I had used Avalanche. It's got a very quick cooldown for my throwaway power. Get it? Get it? "Throwaway?"

Some people like to repeat nonsense.Let mordin incinerate group of husks with incinerate blast and follow with a shockwave.Nothing is better against husks, even on insanity.Omega-202 wrote...

The radius on Incineration blast is 3.00 meters. The radius on Area Pull is 3.00 meters and it has half the recharge of Shockwave.
If you don't have Area Pull on your Vanguard, then you most likely have Squad Cryo instead. Once those Husks have their armor stripped, they will proceed to become a field of popsicles (which is also an instant-kill) fast enough that it would be a wasted cooldown.
In all ways, Shockwave gets outclassed by an upgraded pull or squad cryo. Either you have a faster more precise one shot kill available or you have a passive that would end them all in seconds without the need to waste a cooldown.
Its not that its not useful, its just completely outclassed.

Yikes does Shockwave really have DOUBLE the cooldown of pull? That's a bit extreme.

It does and it really harms it in the direct comparisons. Its sole advantage comes at the low difficulty levels when husks have no anti-physics armor. Outside of that, shockwave is always outclassed. There may be times when hitting an enemy behind cover is easier with shockwave instead of pull, but patience and aim will let you hit nearly anything with pull once you know the angles.
Shockwave shines on Veteran. After that, there's always a better option.
