Hey all,

Just finished my first run through Awakening. Not sure what everyone is complaining about; except for a few minor annoyances, I thought it was good quality stuff.

What I liked: The story was a pretty cool look into the Darkspawn with some very interesting characters. I think it sets up a sequel quite well and enriches the overall Dragon Age experience and lore a great deal.

The new characters were fun to play as well. I especially liked Anders and Justice, though all five of them were very cool and playable. I felt it was a nice change of pace to see five new faces. And I generally enjoyed my time with all of them.

The new spells, specializations, skills and customization. Enough said. Expands the DA experience very nicely.

The length. I got just over 20 hours on my first time through. And I could've easily gotten a few more out of it. I missed all the craftable weapons and armor by Wade and a few side quests. This, to me at least, is well worth $40. Not sure why people make a fuss. Then again, it is your money to spend (or not).

On the other hand, I found the game very buggy at times. This is unacceptable for BioWare and I wonder how it slipped through the QA cracks. Someone should lose their job, in my opinion. Characters ran into walls constantly, camera angles glitched, the screen blacked out more than a couple times, the game completely froze twice. I even experienced a loading screen in the middle of a fight with smugglers... only to be transported to the top of the castle of Amaranthine. What the hell? And let's not forget the badass Sentinel armor that is supposed to appear black and red and evil but only seems to be a copy of Warden Commander armor on anyone but Oghren. That really killed a bit of fun for me. I totally wanted a badass-looking PC or Justice. Instead, Oghren wore it. Oh well.

So, really, the only thing that "bugged" me was the inexcusable glitches, freezes and other minor hiccups. I can look past it but just this once. Two more months of polish on this game and it would've been a perfect expansion to the game we love. Instead, it's enjoyable at its best.... and head-shakingly bad at its worst.

Something to think about, BioWare.
