Well you reckon wrong, because Fox News is #1 in cable news rating with their Left Wing counterparts taking a back seat.

You're right, they're very successful at getting stupid people to religiously follow their programming. They fail miserably when it comes to actually reporting the news.

Also yes this is totally old news, was worth a laugh when it happened though.

Actually couldn't Bioware have sued them for loss of sales (ha!), brand besmirching and regular goodwill clauses?

Sure Fox would blame it on the reviewer and sue her, but that's their business. And it would have been a good thing to warn other guest reviewers before they start following whatever they are told to say

No. The US constitution is there to allow the media to lie to the public.

Does that mean the media are immune to libel suits? That does not seem workable nor even logical.

Also the district appeals court is hardly the final appeals destination. If the defendents were a company or other well financed opponent (sadly they do not seem to be in this case), this could have gone further up the chain.

Sure, but how would you go about it?

"Hey, you, I'm suing you for calling us names!"

"I'm Fox News."

"Oh right. It's what you do."

Apart from the underwear that mysteriously appears, the main problem is that the protagonist has an expressionless face.

Back on topic... Dragon Age doesn't have nudity as such buuut the female undergarments do sort of appear seethrough if you look a little *too* closely.
I remember this scandal though, 'twas hilarious. It just proves how bad the media can be - and no country is immune to it. As I'm sure people know, the UK just had a recent event with the Alan Titchmarsh show which infuriated a lot of British gamers (and some from other countries, too). One of the guests on that edition, Julie Peasgood I believe, was decrying video games and how they're terrible - If you look at her resumé, or at least what she's credited with, then you'll find she did a voice over for a survival horror game on the PlayStation (which was rated M, unsurprisingly).
What I'd, honestly, love to see is a programme dedicated to the debate with professionals and intellectuals. Professors of child psychology, video game experts (such as Tim Ingham), people from PEGI or BBFC (It's ESRB in America, right?), you get the idea. At least then we'd have a reasoned debate with people who know what they're talking about. They'd be able to reference studies, give examples and not talk out of their backside.

DA:O protagonists are expressionless like ME characters are cross-eyed.

It sneaks up on you when the coders aren't paying attention.

Have to say, outside of a few places, you're bang on the mark.

Was actually thinking about it before I got out of bed this morning - BioWare *really* need some work on their animations.

No, they don't.

I'd rather they write more story than polish every last technical detail.

Come to think of it, what irritates me more is some of the dialogue making no sense ... for instance if you play a female human noble, and made her ugly.

No I didn't mean it in that context.  Fox News looked bad over this debacle shortly after they did it in 08.  It's good that you are posting though.  People think that there is not enough nudity in ME2 because of this, but Bioware has stated to the contrary and DA would show evidence of this if it that were the case.

There isn't enough nudity in ME2. If it weren't for Fox we would have gotten a topless shot of Miranda, and definitely Jack with her Tatoos. Would have been so romantic and sultry.

Why not bring this up in the thread where we were already discussing this?

I think Shepard putting a drink in her eye is a sign that BioWare need better animations.

Plus the animators aren't the people who write the story, so it'd make no impact on the quality of writing.

Well from what i know, you would have to prove that the allegations are false and that your livelihood is affected whether through less business deals or in Bioware's case reduced sales to a certain demographic. Also add in some psychological pain (or reduction in brand goodwill for Bioware thus impacting future sales of other games) for good measure.

It is really unfortunate that if you have no big resources (ie you're very wealthy or backed by a big coporation), the law just seems not that accessible.

Well, see, the problem with Fox is that their perception of reality involves communist goblins and homosexual agendas to overthrow the "traditional family".

You have also got to prove that the slanderer normally has credibility ... which fox doesn't.

I think they could really stand to add a bit more polish to both. ME2 undeniably looks better than the first game but some of the animations they did for Shep are just a little bit overdone.

Also I wish they would make different animations for male and female Shep, it just feels weird watching them both make the exact same face when they first wake up from the Lazarus Project.

I'm not a lawyer but from what i know you just need to prove credibility for a certain demographic affected. Eg Bioware could state that the false representation hurt their sales for the demographic that is also the same demographic that watches fox news and believes it, maybe the same demographic as (purely example) poster JohnnyDollar

They may not, but I still trust'em more than any other news network. Buncha tabloids, all of them. They just all kiss different backsides.

Well, embarrassment for Fox News or no, BioWare/EA caved in regardless. I'd say that's pretty embarrassing too.

I wouldn't have much of a problem with Fox News if they didn't outright lie about some of their stories and report with such a conservative bias.  You don't see that with other news networks.

Do you see a bias towards liberals on the other networks?  Yes we do to some extent but they do report honestly for the most part.  Especially when there are other stations and websites for you to check the truth of those stories.

Why do you think shows that live off of mocking news networks when they are wrong, like the Daily Show and Colbert Report slam Fox so often.? They don't even try to report on things with a journalistic integrity and don't even try to restrict the bias on their shows.  It make it too easy to slam Fox while you don't see them slam CNN or MSNBC so much.

I'd like it if CNN actually reported the news and didn't rely on their audiences phoning in messages. All cable news outlets suck something fierce.
