Fox "News" is strictly entertainment. I hate politics. So, during elections, I watch Fox News to get a good laugh before I start doing serious research on the candidates. I can never take anything that network puts out as serious or realistic.
Just as an FYI, I don't always vote party lines and try very hard to make an intelligent choice. However, sometimes all you have to choose between is spam and processed cheese food. :(

Kinda why I obstained from voting in '08.  :P

Desperate?  No.  I do defend that we have more than one ideological choice in the news we watch.  People can call a network (in this case Fox) whatever they want.  They can call the people that watch the network whatever they want.  That does nothing to further their argument.  It only shows ignorance and or no objectivity IMO.  The television media has been dominated mostly by the left wing since the 1950's.  Fox News offers opposition to that, and gives people a choice to view news from .  The fact that they are #1 in viewership in cable news ratings is only a further indication of this IMO.  People calling Fox news and it's viewers stupid,  tells me that
a.) They have no other argument and or
b.)  They are unable to look at different media organizations and compare them objectively
and or
c.) They see Fox news as a threat because they share the opposite ideology.

I think most news programs on prime time are bias.  I've seen the insults Rachel Maddow throws around on her show on MSNBC, but guess who's her contemporary?  Sean Hannity, the most pompous and self-righteous person on Fox News.  Bill O'rielly is fair, but not unbiased.  He always has an opinion but isn't afraid to let his guests change his mind. I've watched the show for more than a few episodes, I've seen it happen. The liberals he has on his show are intelligent and are willing to back up their opinions.  I may disagree with them, but it doesn't mean they are wrong.  They are entitled to their opinions. The one person I saw insult another guest never showed up again.  The program before O'Rielly is fairly unbiased, just news.  Gretta Van Susteran is also fairly unbiased, at least she tries to be.  Glenn Beck is crazy, I don't watch him.

I don't have much experience with the other networks, from my understanding based on comments from Bill O'Rielly, CNN is pretty unbiased.  It is all a matter of perspective.  That said, any newscaster who participated in the Mass Effect Scandal got what they deserved.  Being ignorant and making rash assumptions are bad, and anyone who does it should get what's coming to them

That's pathetic.  Both parties can be said to be drifting in space.  Ideology is stupid.  You should never make decisions based on party or ideology, but rather on what is logical.  Speaking from a logical perspective, The democrats are the party of empathy, the republicans are the party of logic.  That doesn't mean either of them are wrong, just that they view the world differently.  A republican is more likely to see the suffering of another and say that they did it to themselves, thus taking no action to help them.  A democrat is more likely to see the suffering of another and pour money at them, not caring about deficit spending.  One is wrong because they don't do anything to aid that person, the other is wrong because pouring money at something is how you rack up a 12 trillion dollar debt.  The best course of action is somewhere in between.  I'm an independent before you call me a republican.

FYI, FOX news was sued by one of it's employees. The employee was being pressured to run a piece that they KNEW was false and inaccurate. The employee sued and FOX's lawyers argued that FOX had no obligation to NOT LIE to their viewers. FOX won.

http://www.relfe.com...egally_lie.html

During their appeal, FOX asserted that there are no written rules
against distorting news in the media. They argued that, under the First
Amendment, broadcasters have the right to lie or deliberately distort
news reports on public airwaves. Fox attorneys did not dispute Akre’s
claim that they pressured her to broadcast a false story, they simply
maintained that it was their right to do so.

In complicated situations its best to simplify things to the fullest then look from there. If none of the options are effective, scrap em.

This is why the Daily Show and Colbert Report are so popular.  If you're going to watch the land of make-believe, it should at least be funny!

Fox News will attack anything hip, regardless of the fact that they have no knowledge of it. I lost all respect for them after this.

Not only that but people know it's false and the Daily Show and Colbert Report don't really try to fool people into thinking their crazy stuff is actually news.  The Daily Show does do some actual reporting and some serious commentary every now and then but they generally tend to stick with poking fun at what's happened and other news organizations.

Yup yup.  Even though it's painfully obvious that both shows have a fairly heavy liberal bias, Stewart makes no illusion that he isn't hiding it, and Colbert 'plays' right-wing nutjob to an absurd extreme, I still enjoy them both.  The base facts are usually still in there, and are pretty easy to spot before the comedy is inserted into the report.

It's truly funny that the news shows I trust the most, are the ones that are open about making up a large portion of it.

Does anyone find it funny that 2 comedy shows meant to mock the news channels are actually starting to be considered better news channels than the other actual news channels?  Image IPB

The fact that people are so vocal regarding their dislike or hatred of Fox News only provides that much more evidence that their needs to be both sides presented in the media. Not just one side.

There's a difference between objectively providing both sides to an argument and outright lying to promote your own opinion.

Here here. The Fox News credo is "Journalistic integrity doesn't pay the rent."

Here's something from another VG that sums up Fox News perfectly:

(A scientist is mentioning a series of unethical experiments done by her company)
REPORTER: I take it you have proof?
SCIENTIST: Yes. I have conducted numerous experients..
REPORTER: So YOU conducted these experiements.
SCIENTIST: Yes...
REPORTER: It's a story I've seen a dozen times, a young woman, frustrated by her inability to sleep her way to the top, turns to mad science to gain her revenge, framing an innocent corporation for her horrible crimes.

Seriously, anyone who truly believes that Fox News doesn't operate that way is a gullible idiot.

And if anyone truly believes that not all news organizations operate in a similar way then,
a.) They have no other argument and or
b.)  They are unable to look
at different media organizations and compare them objectively
and or
c.)
They see Fox news as a threat because they share the opposite ideology.

In the particular example that I give, a news organization that is NOT Fox News would not ambush the scientist in such a combative, sensationalistic manner. They would either interview her in a civil, professional manner, or they wouldn't touch the story with a 10 foot pole.

Respectable news agencies also generally don't hire nutjobs who think that McCarthyism and/or turning back the clock to the J. Edgar Hoover era are good things.

You guys really aren't listening to Johnny. You keep saying that Fox is Bias and all that, and he keeps agreeing with you, but you won't listen. And BS the other new agencies don't ambush people, that's called investigative journalism, it was invented by them. All three major news agencies are Bias, just in different ways. They all have people that insult others and their guests, they all have straight news programs, they all have fair news casters. They are all the same, except for perspective. That is what Johnny is saying.
