hi guys, I don't fully comprehend how does the colouring of hair models work.

the base model has no color, so a tint is used in morph editor to change the hair colour of a specific character, right?
but isn't a .dds file needed? if so, where is it?

second question: I downloaded an hair mod that I think doesn't use tints, since it comes with different .dds files for the different hair colours.
how can a total noob in texturing like me do the same thing with a model already in game, so that I have not to choose a tint in morph editor but I have a .dds file to colour the model?

many thanks!

The basic hair texture file is named "uh_har_0d.dds". It's the one used for female hair at least, not sure if male hair uses the same file.

and how can I change this file in order to give the hair a colour?
or where can I find another .dds file to replace this file with?

Not sure since i didn't dig into it, but i think in order for the hair mesh to use different texture you'd have to adjust the *.mmh file associated with that hair so it points to a modifed *.mao file which in turn points to the *.dds texture you'd like it to use. You can get some detail on how these file types work at the DA Builder Wiki site.
