There are so many different love interests that people can really choose who they like, and just ignore those they dont. Win win.

Ash is one of the best characters available. One of the few characters with any depth in ME1.

I certainly respect Gunnery Chief Williams, her sacrifice on Virmire was crucial to the success of my mission against Saren.

She's well drawn, and in fact reminded me a lot of a friend of mine who was a Navy petty officer. Both are the hard driving, making in a male profession you-go-girl sorts, but also complete know it alls with some annoying prejudices (look, not every place outside America is like the sleazy dock parts of town you visited, okay?). I have to say, if I were a guy, I wouldn't date someone like that. But then again, guys seem willing to forgive a lot if the character modeler is skilled enough.

When I first met Ashley I was perplexed. I wondered who on earth would find such a woman attractive. She's a racist, gun-loving, bible-bashing tomboy with eyebrows thicker than my arm. You just know that she doesn't shave her pits. Then the answer dawned on me: Republicans. *runs*

A hint of xenophobia, a touch of bigotry, religiousness, reciting poetry... these traits utterly condemn her in my books. And I know better than to let physical appearance interfere with my opinion of a person. But I'm not denying her sacrifice on Virmire was heroic, at least there is something positive I can say about her.

Not after Horizon. In ME1 she was a pretty good character

She's pretty boring. Liara is much more interesting. I did have Ashley as a LI with one of my Shepards just to see what she's like. She grew on me a bit, but I still prefer Liara.

I hated her. Hated her personality and attitude towards aliens.
I swear the only reason that people liked her is simply because she is the only human on the ship that posses female genitalia. (chakwas only counts if your into milfs)
She was the epicentre of all nerd rush in ME1, for those nerds without any tentacle squid all female race fetishes. Now that there are options (miranda), Ashley is simply not getting the fan attention she used to.

I thought Ashley was the best squad mate from mass effect 1 because she had a well written back story and had flaws that you either liked or found very annoying. The god/bigot thing was annoying, gun loving was awesome and the poetry was hilarious. I also thought she was the best in combat unlike Alenko, he handicapped the mission whenever i took him on the squad it was like there was only one squad mate. With my playstyle I always chose ashley and wrex/garrus for missions, thats why I liked her.

Love and respect for Ashley? Not from me... she's one butt-ugly racist b*tch if you don't romance her. A romance that she won't be able getting anymore.... she's dead - a nuclear bomb exploded right next to her - no regrets...

I don't understand all of the "she's a racist ****" comments. Her views seem very sensible to me. BTW onelifecrisis, I gotta love the gun loving part of her personality.

I respect her for her discipline and dedication as a soldier, but I definitely have not loved much about her. She can be very overbearing in her negative opinions of aliens, which is about as crippling a flaw as you can have in a galaxy full of them.

After making a topic like this in Gamefaqs, they all pretty much bashed the crap out of her
Does this board feel the same?
There are people who like her and people who don't, just like every character.

I actually thought she was an interesting character and greatly written with the family stories and all. Only her anti-alien mindset disturbed me a little. But when she shot Wrex on Virmire I had to reload and let her sit on the nuke for it...

I like her. I really like her. In ME1 and after Horizon.
And I understand why she was upset. She was right about cerberus.
Most things what she said that was true. What did Cerberus it isn't right. ( ME1 )
Admiral Kahoku, Akuze, Husks, Rachnii...

Ash is an all around solid character. She and Jacob are the most normal characters in the game and I'd have them on my squad any day.
Don't pay any attention to the senseless bleating of the mind numbed tards about her being a racist/xenophobe or any of that bilge. It's just another indication that the masses can be programmed to react in a predictable manner. I would guess that people capable of independent thought and reason are usually in the minority in every generation. *shrug*

She has a support thread that is fairly active OP, so that should tell you something.

No real reason to hate her. I disagree with her views but she's a good person.
