Wait do you need a build? And the 25% melee shoulders make throwing bows feel like holding a sword.

Some sort of Eezo powered baseball bat would be awesome.

Yeah, how about a sword. Something like a katana or a scimitar or a claymore or.....

O wait, we already have something like those but better.

Something about charging around and beating the **** out of enemies with a weapon appeals to me. I know I'm not alone.

Melee is overpowered enough in this game even without special weapons.

That scene is stupid and illegitimate because:

a. The sword used is a ridiculous "Disney" Arab sword, not a Scimitar.

b. The swordsman is acting incredibly stupid. If the scene was realistic, he would charge him without waiting around.

Yeah, I realize that it was meant as humour, but I've always found Indiana Jones films to be exceedingly boring.

I would find it funny if they made Adepts in ME3 into "Warp Field Fu" :P

Playing a melee vanguard just feels so backwards to me.

I don't know why anyone didn't bring this up yet, but... I think they will need to make something like a lightsaber xD. Cuz you know, swords and knifes would be lame against synthetics (metal remember?). But if it is against organics we are talking about, i would vote for a hammer :P.

Actually there was supposed to be a big sword fight but alot of the crew were sick including Ford, so they just said screw it and just made Ford shoot him.

Now as for the topic, i dont think any kind of sword would work, but i think would be cool if u could get an armor piece that puts spikes on ur elbow, or like a knife lookin thing to stab as u melee. That would work without actually puttin a sword/bat into the game. Just a thought..

Giving you a bayonet that increases melee damage and can be upgraded would be sufficient for me

I don't want a melee weapon unless it's powered by mass effect. Some sort of energy field that just rips enemies apart, or that creates a massless field to allow you to swing it harder would do nicely.

The concept is sound enough.  In modern times soldiers often carry knifes/baynoets(just incase), though to be honest our "modern" armour isn't strong enough for a US marine to perform a "krogan charge".

Now, ME universe is different.  Heavy armour is bulky, but offers extreme protection.  Also, the use of kinetic barriers to stop projectiles is common place.  Krogan with shotguns kinda show this, with a slow advance, using thier armour to protect them.  It stands to reason that in certain cases in the ME universe "melee" weapons are preferable... assassinations maybe?  Why bring down a kinetic barrier when you can just stab a guy in the back?

The issue is will this be common for front line soldiers?  Probibly not, but Shepard isn't a common soldier.  Some kind of weapon would make sense, perhaps a wrist mounted blade(energy enhanced or mass effected) or something similar to Kasumi's that he can use to melee.  I don't think he needs a WH40K Space Marine chainsword/hammer or anything of that manner.  Something that we can relate too, believably.  Krogan, on the other hand, would be interesting if they used some manner of melee weapons in addition to thier shotguns.
