Is there any way to reset a quest gone wrong?

In particular the Smuggler's Run?

I even knew about this problem but still picked the wrong choice and then broke my own rule to finish one quest at a time by somehow getting sidetracked and forgetting about it.  So now it is beyone using a saved game--too much time lost.

I know Bethesda games have console commands where you can often reset or restart or fix something gone amiss.  Just want to make sure if that is possible or not with Awakening?

With Smuggler's Run I got the tunnel entrance opened up at the Inn side but turned down the smuggler's request to help--I didn't know exactly what I was doing.  Now the smuggler has disappeared, I don't have any key to open the tunnel up and worse, the guards are all pissy at the PC for being bought/corrupted by gold.

Now before I just go zooming along with other quests, which I have already done to much of or I wouldn't be moaning about this one, where does that leave me with Sigrun's Rogish Past?  Can I still find Mischa?  And the Wiki makes it sound like if you don't do Smuggler's Run you do Law and Order.  Sooo, can I still do Law and Order now?

I feel like I'm in a real crummy mess with this game.  If there is no other way and this one stupid mistake leaves it, Sigrun's Roguish Past, and Law and Order broken will that be the end of it?  Can I write off these three quests and still finish the rest of Awakening successfully?  Where are the fatal bugs?

Thanks.

There are ways to use console commands to jump to certain encounters (such as Velanna's "loyalty mission") but the effects of choices seem permanent. I've got the toolset and I couldn't see what I would need to change in a base DA:O save to fix flags--maybe someone else has.

So, yes, it would appear you've broken three quests. No, I don't think that's "okay". If it makes you feel any better, I've got three broken myself right now (found granite deposit before I paid the Dwarven master mason; found Heartwood before I'd wrapped up the Dwarven master mason or something, and then lost the PC's gear in the S_________ Mines.)

Yes, I've got three *other* broken quests, completely different from your set.

So yes, FUBAR is not just an acronym...or a motto...it's the Awakening lifestyle. And the *only* reason I didn't break the three you did was that I read a couple of forum posts before I started playing...but that only reduced the damage I caused.

Hope my second playthrough goes better than this one...and good luck.

Right now I am absolutely sick of thinking of replaying Awakening. I was on the right track when I originally said I wouldn't be playing Awakening because of these bugs, but now I've made the investment in the game and royally screwed.

I've decided to do nothing.  I'll play something else and wait for Awakening to get fixed and if it doesn't then I've just wasted $40.  I'm not poor enough yet for that loss to really hurt that much.

Not that it makes things much better...but it turns out that the quests for granite and heartwood *do* manage to resolve properly once WW is done.

Still, *way* too many places where quests can hang, or be FUBAR'd entirely, in ways that the player basically can't avoid without meta-gaming.

I think that is why I'm picking up a Guide today...I'm going to meta or micro manage Awakening with the Guide, Wiki's, posts in this forum, and better saved games management.  I may copy certain saved games for backup too.
