So I'm wondering if Awakening is worth getting. I saw that Gamespot gave it a respectable 8.0, but that's still a far cry from the high rating Origins got on the same site. Is it worth the money I would have to spend to get it? Thanks to anyone in advance who nudges me either to buy it or not buy it. (I'm on the fence about this).

I've played it 3 times through now, and haven't eclipsed 15 hours. To me, charging $40 for 15 hours kinda sucks. I love dragon age, so while i wasn't happy about the length of the expansion, i did enjoy it.

It is a pretty good romp for your Warden(s) for additional story, powers, and new characters to fight with. There are many technical flaws, continuity problems, and minor-major bugs to justify $40.

Get it from the EA Store with the sale code PAXEAST842 , it will cost $20. I don't feel it is worth more.

I would say no but there is another thread explaining how to get the game for 20 bucks.

It is worth getting for $20 but not for anymore than that. Also give them some time to get some decent patches in place for it, it is buggy as hell.

I just bought it through the EA store with the promotional code. The 20 dollars off the price really made all the difference for me.

The $20. off convinced me to get it as well. Looked too short to me to pay $40. for it.

It's about 15hrs of content give or take. Take that how you will.
Other than that it you loved DA:O its more of the same with some new characters, all of which I thought were interesting, and the story is interesting as well.
My disappointments are mainly that the length of campaign didn't seem to allow enough time to do the new characters justice.
There are bugs, but those will be fixed with patches eventually.

Just finished it (seriously, 30 minutes ago), and I'll second that.  The new characters are interesting, but getting to know them seemed a bit rushed.  One character literally went from the adventure I recruited her to the final adventure, and had all of one "fireside chat".

I wish I didn't know EA was having a sale now :)  I spent the $40.

But ignoring the length/cost for a moment, it's a really fun story, and your character gets a chance to play Commander in charge of the keep.  Also, as an archery fan, it was great to see the skill line finally worth while (1353 points of damage with an Arrow of Slaying O_O.)  I'll definitely run it again with at least one of my Origins characters, so at 30 hours/$40, that's a $1.33/hour.  I can live with that.

I'd say rent it if it were a movie. Buy it at 40.00 if your a Hardcore fan, wait for it at 20.00 if you're a casual fan.

I got my money's worth. Liked the story and the new characters. Especially Sigrun and Justice.

first time was the worst, second was the best.... my expectations weren't as high and I realized how many side quests I missed the first time around.

You can get at the EA online store on all platforms for $19.95 + S & H or as a PC digital download. The code is PAXEAST842

yeah, I think the $20 price point Realmzmaster suggested might be worth it, but I was disappointed with what I got for $40.

I thought for 2/3 of the price of origins, it was going to have 2/3 of content and a great experience but found it somewhat lackluster, but judging from some of the other comments in this thread, whose to say? You might think it was the best thing since sliced bread, and in the end, isn't that all that matters?

I am happy with Awakenings. I would have been even happier if I had waited and got it for $20. The only point that really ticks me off is that Awakenings was released on March 16 and on March 29 the price drops in half!
I guess EA dropped the price to counter some of the negativity aimed at the expansion and entice those people waiting to buy . So you think the expansion is average or bad at $40. Well try it at $20.

Unfortunately this pisses off the people who paid $34 or more dollars for it at release (I include myself).
I would not care if EA dropped the price two months after the release, but barely two weeks. That is insulting. And then on top of that you give community the bazaar which only people in the U.S. (except Florida and New York) can enter. I can only assume that the lightbulbs are pretty dim in the EA/Bioware marketing department. Did the department fail Marketing 101? I guess customer satisfaction is no longer king.

I got it for 45 bucks and I"m satisfied with it. Its a great game and its launch price being about 40 bucks for 10-16 hours of play (I beat it in 13 hours 36 minutes) when in comparison with most games that are 60 or 70 bucks and have the same amount or significantly less gameplay it makes Awakening a good purchase to make. BTW I cant wait for DA2.

I feel that for $10 cheaper it would be a great buy. At this price it should have been alot more polished and with more depth to it.
