Blizzard forums are filled with trolls, racists and homophobes.

Here we have trolls, Talimancers and the "community".

I hate our species.

There's still bitter feelings, but the sentiment is very valid. Bioware or even EA during the planning stages would have had more then ample time and oppertunity to be or become aware that certain aspects of the contest or other nations legalities would comprimise the event. I don't see any company as large as EA or Bioware for that matter creating a social event in the intrest of it's community being poorly planned or executed. It just doesn't happen.

I think what it really boiled down to for Bioware is they spent the time, resources and genuine intrest in giving back to the community that they decided it would be better to possibly ****** people off and hope they don't over react, as opposed to stoping or halting the event altogether.

Is this the first contest you've entered?

From EA and or Bioware yes. I think you and Tony are failing to read between the lines.

What lines? You're the one who obviously failed to read between the lines of 99% of the contests you've entered. The fact is different countries and states have different laws and you can't make all of them happy. Holy **** next you'll be mad you must be 18 or older to enter.

Depending on who you talk to, Maviarab, there were different groups with different goals.  Some wanted an apology, some wanted free stuff, some wanted to be included, etc etc.  Me, all I wanted was an acknowledgment that there was an issue.  By the looks of the the responses, it seems that a portion of the people wanted the same thing.

And I prefer to be a happy clam than a camper.  Image IPB

My problem (and I believe Maviarab's although I don't want to put words into mouths) is that the apology isn't sincere at all.   had they just cme out and said something like "Hey, we messed up so we will do some stuff for other regions, sorry about that" I would accept that as real, but pulling this "last minute legal troubles" crap is just insulting.  Last minute?  Really?   Any moron with an IQ over 75 knows that ach countries laws are different, so don't try to tell us that EA and Bioware were totally unaware of this and nobody thought to check it until six days before release, and THEN nobody thought to maybe change the tag line of the announcement?  What bugs me more is that sheeple are buying that crap.  What is wrong with admitting a mistake instead f shoveling more **** on top of your pile?

So yeah, thanks for at least acknowledging the mistake bunt don't ****ing lie to us about it.

Fine, if you disagree at least name an event a game company has done to give back to it's fans where it went as sideways on them as Biowares did.

How about uhh... Everyone. Seriously, read the TOS of EVERY CONTEST YOU ENTER! Guarantee you there are either excluded states, excluded countries, or both. God I honestly think this is the first time you guys have read the TOS for a contest.

I think you fail to see that we would not have been that angry had we been told from the beginning of the countdown of the epic community event that the event was only for the American (minus 2) community - THAT was the problem. But you see the announcement to an "epic community event" and as you feel part of this community you start looking forward to it - only to find out in the legal fineprint that you cannot participate.

It's not really about being ineligible to enter, it's about getting our hopes high because of (failed) marketing and being given the feeling that we're not part of the community. An epic community event that only includes half of the community is not an epic community event ...

But now there is an apology and the promise to make things right ... if they keep this promise, everything's fine again.

I really cant believe that big companies like EA and bioware would let themself kicked back last minute like that, specially when u look at the exp they have bioware has 15 years off legal hassle after completing every game and EA almost have 30 years of exp.

I do accept the appoligy as bioware could just keep there mouth shut even after alot off posts.

But im still giving the finger to every1 that claims we need to apoligise for the forum messages. Think off it like this, would this post even excist without them?

Ever notice that when you disagree with someone all of a sudden not long afterwards you find yourselves at the opposite end of everything? O_o

There is disappointment and then there is rage. There is sadness and then there is whining. Very curious.

I disagree with the "aww stupid fans, now you can make an appology to bioware, shame on you" as well with the "hmm evil bioware it's just a trick , stop lying" posts :P . This thing was really stupid, and the frustration of the people was understandable (also you guys made some really fun pictures and userbars!!), but now they appologised, also let's see what events they come up with before flaming. But this is just what i think, everyone is more than welcome to write hes/her opinion imo.

Agreed, but again, I have to give it to Bioware. Why admit that you didn't give enough consideration to the global community when you can just blame it on last-minute legal issues and everyone forgives you. They're doing what works.

Except for a multi-national 8,000 (plus ~ 20,00 is partnering corporations) employee mega-corporation 6 days is basically 3 hours. Someone needs to take a business class, pronto.

first post i've made about this whole topic.

whenever i see an interview with the big bioware guys ray and greg, they always seem so animated about what game it is they're doing and all the extra cool bits that happen in them.

lets face it these things always come down to legal issues when you spread comps over national borders. i can only imagine the bioware guys suddenly had the rug pulled out from under them over this grand comp/giveaway by the legal team who in my experience have to proof everything before completion.

should they have carried on with it, probably not but they did and now they've apologised, they've said they're gonna make it up to us and i believe them. why wouldn't i?

ps, i'm keeping the sig, i read so much crap these last hours that i need something to remind me how futile it all was.

pps aawww it doesn't show anyway(first post since i added it)

Sloth, they lie to us in much more serious matters at every election, wherever we may be and we still rejoice when some of them win it! Hell, sometimes the whole world rejoice together for one single man victory!

This is too petty to be angry with! Did it suck? Definitely. Does it affect our lives? Not at all! Can we still enjoy their games? I know I can. They are in the gaming business not in the Event making business. As long as their games are way better than their events, I can live with that!

Just PLEASE go back working on the much needed patches!!!!

So they screwed up in setting the bazzar up, (last minute problem = some one didn't do their work in time, either the idea came to late or they were just slowy, or just hadn't thought of it) They screwed up in informing the community at launch that they had screwed up for international and quite a few american members. Then made us wait for 30 odd hours to post an official apology yep another screw up :) Not biowares finest hour well 30 of them. Id say it was the alcohol from the party but at 15 thats pushing it :)

But lets bygons be bygons. Thanks for the apology and the vague make up promises, better late than never :D

Now since my pmails and the thread are being ignored over in the bioware store forum perhaps I will get at least some attention by posting here even if its a mod eddit :)

Can I have access to the jade empire se I bought from the bioware store please.

I'm surprised people are so mad about this stuff? I mean most contests exclude florida because of their legal system. This isn't the first time this has happened guys, what is this the first contest you've entered?

Edit: PS, read the rules of the contests you enter people, 99% of the time Florida and NY are excluded.

People were mad b/c there was a big countdown for it, regardless of whether or not you were eligible and it was penned as an "Epic Community Event". Then they found out that only US residents need apply.

They could have done things better, like making sure that it was clear that this was just part 1 of the celebration and such earlier, but a response the next day on the issue and clarifying that more would be coming is still good.

most of you wouldn't be happy no matter what they said or did, death is the only option.

And some of you just drop your pants and get the K-Y out with a stupid grin on your face.

What do you want instead...blood?  Their firstborn..or maybe some death and destruction?

Its not every day that a CEO shows up and makes a personal apology to a gaming community.

The way I was raised is..someone is sincere and apologizes, you have at least the good grace to accept that apology and move on.

Yeesh.

How about something that isn't just shifting of blame? This excuse wouldn't pass on any workplace I've ever had...

"Our lawyers did it"
