That's just stupid, but I'm not going to engage in this discussion any more. I'm just going to lean back and see what happens for now...
It was meant to be stupid! C'mon, their attitude is far more important than the words in their post! Everyday we hear excuses that would grant the sack to the one giving it. But they didn't actually have to say anything. There was no boycott treat and even if there were, it wouldn't work. Again, their games are just too good to be ignored. Far better than their events or Legal team.
So let's just buy that and go on for more happy gaming sessions! And group hugs! I love group hugs.
God, grant me the serenity to ACCEPT the things I CANNOT change, the courage to change the things I CAN, and the WISDOM to know the DIFFERENCE!

Don’t Unnecessarily Risk Lawsuits or Regulatory Action, Be Sure To Consider
- Some states require a sweepstakes sponsor to register the sweepstakes. Florida, New York, and Rhode Island require registration when the total retail value of the prizes is greater than $5,000 (or $500 in Rhode Island for retail store promotions).
- Florida and New York require the sponsor to bond the sweepstakes equal to the total value of the prizes. Once the winners are announced, a winners’ list must be provided to the state(s) in order to release the bond.
- State laws may require additional disclosures and may vary based on the value of the prizes being offered and the channels through which it is offered. Internet promotions will have additional requirements.Telemarketing sweepstakes will have mandatory oral disclosures, whereas direct mail sweepstakes must contain, in a mandatory written disclosure.
- Records of the prize winners must be retained for a period of no less than 4 years, and entry materials may also need to be retained.
- In most instances a list of winners must be posted.

A reminder to please keep insults and personal attacks off the forums.
I'm glad people are taking Ray & Greg's apology to heart and it was sincere and it is genuine. I know there will always be people out there who say "well I doubt it was last minute complications" (people still doubt the moon landing, the power of bacon as a cure-all, my ability to jump tall buildings in a single bound, etc) but I would suggest that if they weren't last minute complications, do you really think we'd have excluded Canada? Where we are? Really?
Anyways, moving on now. Time for an apology from me as well. The BioWare Bazaar IS a cool event and, if we had been able to get it working as we intended, potentially Epic. Yes, not nearly enough people are able to be part of it (see Ray & Greg's apology), but the event is cool. Where I went wrong is in how we marketed it to you and for that I apologize. We used the word "Epic" before we had proven that it was. Sorry. We also used the Countdown timer to generate interest. In hindsight, this allowed rampant speculation which caused disappointment. Again, sorry. While I won't promise we will never use a timer like it again, I can promise we will make sure that such a timer is worthy of the interest it will attract.
So, for those who are taking part in the BioWare Bazaar, thanks for your interest. We are having a great response and people are having fun with it. And for those who cannot be part of the BioWare Bazaar, my apologies as well. As Ray & Greg indicated, we do have more events coming this year to celebrate our 15th Anniversary, including the one specifically for those who were excluded from the Bazaar. We do greatly value our Community. All of it, no matter where you are from and we're going to prove it.
So how about it? Group hug?
Aww, you big lug. How could we stay mad at you? C'm'ere!
Awwww

Dose this mean since Florida and New York are in the USA they won't get to be in any of the other contests either?
Dude, if they cut NY and FL out, i would gladly try to win something for yas...Its good that they finally stepped up and said something though, this was all we asked for.
PS. I wouldnt care if we didnt get competitions, just so long as they dont ditch us like that.

There were a fair few people who were excluded- Europe, Australia, Canada, NY, Florida... I'm just curious to see what they will be able to do to include everyone that missed out, if there were certain laws which restricted the availability in the first place.

So basically, these states are strict on sweepstakes to protect their citizens but the result is that they just get excluded by the company due to simplicity/reduce costs issues? Does sound like it's skirting on Human Rights, discrimination by location. I'm no lawyer though, more likely to make a database for them.

Entering a contest that's invalid in your geographic location is not a fundamental human right.

The apology from Ray and Greg was a nice touch.
Communication.
In dealings between a wide-spread community, good communication is essential.
All of this angst would have been avoided if you fine folks at BioWare would have just communicated the legal issues to us shortly after you had found out about them, instead of us having to find out by reading the fine print.
Take a lesson from Romeo and Juliette. If those crazy kids would have just talked, the play would have had a much happier ending.
As far as I am concerned this matter is closed. I am not only Canadian, I am also part of the BioWare Community.
Thanks again for communicating and responding to our concerns with class and dignity.

Hi everyone -
The BioWare Bazaar was launched this week as the start of a year-long celebration around BioWare’s 15th anniversary.
...
Sincerely,
Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk
Co-founders, BioWare
Guys. First off, congrats on a stellar 15 years in business!
Second. Thanks for the explanation about what happened. I figured that was the case -- dealing with lawyers is not fun sometimes, but they're also a necessary part of a successful business.
Finally. Sounds like you but off a lot of extra time, effort, and expense in order to make your customers happy (especially the ones who felt slighted). I know that's not an easy decision, as we all work under tight budgets, so I hope things work out well and everyone appreciates what you guys are doing.
Good luck and thanks for making such great entertainment!
