A reminder to please keep insults and personal attacks off the forums.

I'm glad people are taking Ray & Greg's apology to heart and it was sincere and it is genuine. I know there will always be people out there who say "well I doubt it was last minute complications" (people still doubt the moon landing, the power of bacon as a cure-all, my ability to jump tall buildings in a single bound, etc) but I would suggest that if they weren't last minute complications, do you really think we'd have excluded Canada? Where we are? Really?

Anyways, moving on now. Time for an apology from me as well. The BioWare Bazaar IS a cool event and, if we had been able to get it working as we intended, potentially Epic. Yes, not nearly enough people are able to be part of it (see Ray & Greg's apology), but the event is cool. Where I went wrong is in how we marketed it to you and for that I apologize. We used the word "Epic" before we had proven that it was. Sorry. We also used the Countdown timer to generate interest. In hindsight, this allowed rampant speculation which caused disappointment. Again, sorry. While I won't promise we will never use a timer like it again, I can promise we will make sure that such a timer is worthy of the interest it will attract.

So, for those who are taking part in the BioWare Bazaar, thanks for your interest. We are having a great response and people are having fun with it. And for those who cannot be part of the BioWare Bazaar, my apologies as well. As Ray & Greg indicated, we do have more events coming this year to celebrate our 15th Anniversary, including the one specifically for those who were excluded from the Bazaar.  We do greatly value our Community. All of it, no matter where you are from and we're going to prove it.

So how about it? Group hug?

Just give me one of those nifty Alienware laptops and we'll call it even. ;)

xD But yeah, I can understand how such a mistake could have been made. People make mistakes and deserve to be forgiven for most. Though I just hope that you remain true to your word and that everyone else that missed out on such a cool event, has a cool event of their own. *Drools at the prizes*

*Group hug!*

They'll probably give better prizes the second and third time around.

I wounder what legal ramification caused Florida and New York to be exempt.

Old people and the Mafia... -.-

:bandit::P

[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie] made me laugh. What about Australia though? Out laws are pretty slack, I figured it was just a shipping issue. We normally get left out in the cold, because we're so far away, and companies don't like being hit with large shipping costs.

We don't really have a mafia here, and our old people are really laid back.

I was suprised when 2k sent me the viral marketing flak, considering they paid for everything and I literally live in the most isolated city in the world.

Dealing with the Kangaroo's for shipping is too difficult for Americans, and probably has lots of legal... jumps! :P :P:pinched:

Sounds like they planned out the whole thing before seeing if it was actually possible and then deciding to go for it anyway. Well at least we did receive an apology and they didn't just try to sweep it under the carpet.

Ray and Greg, your apology was a great move and well said. It was the exact reason that most of us figured had caused the problem. Glad to hear there is more in store for everyone else!

More importantly was the way the promotion was handled, and Chris....you couldn't have made a more sincere apology. Good on you. It takes a real stand up guy to admit when they have made an error. Thank You!

Sorry if this was answered, but I can't sift through all these pages on my iPhone. It's torture. Will we be using the tokens earned in this Bazaar for the other contests?

Can you just stick to making games and patching broken games please.

Same thoughts here. For example the Awakening expansion and the 1.03 patch for DA:O are buggy/broken. About the bazaar thing I don't really care. Your marketing tactics so far though are... Anyway.

You really think they have their software developers running the contest?
That's not how its done.

Sing it:

I know this place is where I am
No other place is better than
No matter where I go I am
Proud to be Canadian

I am, you know I am
I am Canadian
I am, you know I am
I am Canadian

Come on!
I love this country where I am
This land is where I make my stand
No other heart is truer than
The one we call Canadian

Sing it!
I am, you know I am
Know I am
I am Canadian
Know I am
I am, you know I am
Know I am

I am Canadian
I am Canadian!

And in conclusion:

SINGING IT!!!!!!!!!! hehe

Kinda bummed that I can't play here in Florida, but ohh well. I hope people can be understanding with BioWare and not overreact too much.

An avid poker player? Why do I have the feeling that the bluff's been called? hahaha .. just kidding... he's a cool guy with such a cool history!

And as Vice-President of EA, I do hope that the same spirit shown in NWN, as far as patching and always improving the game can be taught to the worst support by a game publisher award winner, Electronic Arts!

Apparently, people around here can be turned on and off like a tap. :)

This certainly seems like spin/damage control of a situation that got a bit out of hand, but who cares? It is a game.

From my days playing World of Warcraft (EU servers), I still remember the amount of drama and legal b.s. there had been around every single event involving any kind of prizes etc - and this was on a game with a massive branch based in Europe, with their very own legal department. Certain countries' residents weren't eligible to participate in pretty much anything that involved 'real' prizes, there's been restrictions from others and so on.

Can't say this stuff with Bazaar is a big surprise to me - if anything, all the rage should go against stupid and poorly worded laws of countries & certain states, not the company.

edit: any kind of a contest involving referal links and real prizes is automatically illegal in a number of countries - my bets on whomever organized this simply not having that in mind when the whole thing was planned, and then it was too late to back out, as they'd have sponsors ready and so on.

That is why smart people run their schemes past Legal first. Before they spend money and human resources on a project that might not work out. I learned that when I first got into business back before there were even things like desktop computers, and phones had rotary dials.

Again how anyone would believe that asking your fanbase to be a viral shill is a good idea in the first place...

Just realized I couldn't participate today after looking like a moron posting referral URLs the past couple days (I mean, I'd still pass links to BioWare on my own, but still). =(

Hopefully Canada gets some love soon.

I was really excited when I read what the bazaar entailed. I got all prepped up to start trying to get more tokens. Then I saw it was US residents only and was rather annoyed.

I bought pretty much every Bioware game since Baldur's Gate and loved them all too.

I'm glad to hear that Bioware wanted to do something with everyone in it and due to legal technicalities is going to have to do a few separate events. Wish it could have all happened in the one go, or you could have let us know about the separate stuff up front tho.

I am sincerely heartened by this. I've been a longtime Bioware supporter, and I'm glad they posted this. I was really disheartened to hear that I would be unable to participate in this event, especially Bioware being from Canada. Thanks for letting us know that you care about your international fans. Hope to hear more about these future plans.

You COULD just go ahead and release Mass Effect 3 exclusively to Canada a month early.
