Well this is great news! Good to know that it was just a last-minute legal issue, but I most likely won't be able to participate in any of the other events either way. I'm kind of used to it, ah the drawbacks of living in Puerto Rico, still don't like it though. Oh well that's the breaks...

Do you want to be invaded? We have gone to war for more shaky reasons.

I think they realize they dropped the ball, hence the apology. I know it's the internet guys, but can we stop complaining for a minute? (That is rhetorical, the internet can never stop complaining)

But I'm keeping my sig for a little while.

Just want to state my appreciation of the apologies made by both Ray Muzyka and Chris Priestly. Thanks.

Before i start this off, thanks a lot Bioware for existing.  Seriously, you've done good when you know you can give stuff away for "free."  Bazaar seems to be a sucess aside from the aforementioned geographic limitations (which even though I'm not effected, I appreciate that you all do seem to care) and the "Referral Program".  Now i love the fact that you give us a step up for having certain games registered, being part of the BSN, using the DA:O charachter creator, etc....I also like the twitter questions; even though i loathe twitter and still havn't been rewarded for my amazingly witty 2 cents each, i still enjoy that perticular experience.  But this Referral link?...well, let me explain:

Can we also get an apology for doing it thru twitter?

Done. :)

Ummmm....sorry, but apology not accepted.  I love you Chris (completley hetero), but presumably you and the other Bioware hierarchs just turned your amazing fan base into the worst kind of trolling cancer that i think the internet has yet to experience on this scale (which is sayin somethin).  Not even mentioning general social networking (which is not to be forgoten...i mean, you need something to appropriate the word "epic" to? *points @twittertrollin*) - your own forums (this thread included) is now cancerous from all the sneaky attempts by aparent friendless, jaded misanthropes posting their brc links to attain these precious tokens.  And the worst thing is, is that by doing this, your rewarding the trolliest of them since only those who troll the most will be able to realistically compete for anything, particularly the best loot...and really, the majority of the excitement emanating from this Bazaar is for the $300+ (approx. 20) items...not counting the $300 headsets <--*scoffs/laughs* - all for your 22,000 twitter followers to fight over - and granted, not all, but most of that 22k are probably competing in this Bazaar.

You say the Bazaar if for the dedicated fans...and I'm sure you do mean that, and i respect the fact that your all willing to actually give out free stuff - something that most corps' would never even think of doing.  But take a second to look at this from my perspective and history:  I'm someone who fell in love with Bioware from BG1 on, I've played and own every one of your games, every one of your expansions, everyone of your DLC's, bought every possibly CE, buyin up expensive limited edition art, been present on the forums since the early days - way before the BSN - asking questions, conversing, and helping people out as a community before you-all even started calling it a community.  Now, does Bioware really wanna reward me for that kind of dedication and support?  Fine, wonderful, I'm ecstatic...but dont tease me with amazing products that I truly would like to own and then ask me to troll the hell out of my friends and the internet...I won't allow myself to fall to that level of incompetance and cruelty.  "Then just dont take part" you say - well then, not only will it make it easier for the trolls, but then why bother even hosting the Bazaar if your morally decent fans won't participate...or are you just strictly targeting the immoral Americans?  "It's like a lapdance in hell" *depressing sigh*

Btw, sorry for typing so much.  However angry I am about this, you did ask all us Twitter followers to "check it out." Plus, I reviewed the site rules and proofread this several times, and i believe its appropriate.  If any moderator believes otherwise, feel free to edit the offending parts out to prevent any banable offence. - see, even after my disapointment, i still care enough to stay...

Thanks guys, as much as I'm upset I always knew you weren't intending to do this.

Still it's such a big shame.

I'm looking forward to future contests!

And all was well again across the kingdom, the folk resuming their Tali fan-worship, hatred of game mechanics and deranged romance ships in wholly equal measures.

Personally I'd think if you had already planned this to be worldwide you'd have said so right away and not just after surprisingly people were miffed about the nature of this "epic event". So yea, while I do appreciate the effort at damage control, I don't feel you're being completely honest with your customers, which is something I don't appreciate very much. Either way, as long as you continue to make good games I'll buy them, but please try to be a little smarter about your PR efforts. I mean, seriously, it's not that hard. Would love to know how nobody at Bioware saw this coming when they announced the Bazaar, or if they did see it coming, why they waited a day to make a comment about it.

I am sincerely heartened by this. I've been a longtime Bioware supporter, and I'm glad they posted this. I was really disheartened to hear that I would be unable to participate in this event, especially Bioware being from Canada. Thanks for letting us know that you care about your international fans. Hope to hear more about these future plans.

You COULD just go ahead and release Mass Effect 3 exclusively to Canada a month early.

We'll have none of that, Americans already have to come to you for cheap prescription drugs, you won't take our games!

In Switzerland we will not be able to ever participate on something like this. In our laws it's forbidden to make or participate in a contest, where you're forced to buy something.

Thats like: you have to buy DA:O or ME (and register the game) to have access to whatever you need to do for this contest. (The Forums first to read about it!)

Or same with World of Warcraft. I can't invite someone to the 'Recruit-a-friend'-action, because he/she must pay then for the account.

I don't want to KEEP your games. Just get it a little earlier! Plus, cheap prescriptions FTW.

Despite the "me-too-ism", I feel I should say thank you to Ray and Greg, and to Chris as well for their posts on this matter.

I appreciate the acknowledgment that this wasn't supposed to happen, and that there will be something for those that have missed out this time. I guess you can take heart in the fact that people like BioWare and its products so much that this sparked such a high degree of outrage.

It has been a wonderful 15 years for BioWare, and I look forward to many more wonderful years to come.

I agree.  There's no way a huge global company like EA and Bioware wouldn't have known complications exist across countries and states.  Even so, had it actually been a big flub and they learned it a few days into the countdown, they should have pulled the countdown mentioned the mix up and announced the Bazaar.  Instead it was left to leave the entire community to wonder and then be hit the fact most couldn't participate.  To make things even worse when you read the post countdown announcement...it basically says as a thank you to ALL our fans here is a contest for SOME of youImage IPB.  Finally as a damage control, here is a form letter apology blaming our legal department.  Not only is this insulting it is insincere.  Any apology that points fingers in another direction rather than just taking full rsponsibility is a cop out.

Do I still like Bioware?  Yes.  Will I get over it?  of course.  Are ther more important issues in the world? Duh.  But this is the issue at hand and still doesn't change how badly this was handled and how insulted I feel as a Canadian fan.  And it really annoys me how easily everyone turncoats from the most form apology.

One last rant....I really hate it when mods come on and say...of course the apology was sincere but here is an insulting insinuation to all those who doubt it (ie Priestley saying:  I know there will always be people out there who say "well I doubt it was last minute complications" (people still doubt the moon landing, the power of bacon as a cure-all, my ability to jump tall buildings in a single bound, etc).  Way to go being a condescending jerk cloaked in humour to people who dare question the form apology.

My two cents.

Nice to see a response. But when you get a last minute problem that tells you that most of the world won't be able to participate, that should be a hint of not going forward at all. Atleast not like you did, the explanation should have come with the start of the bazaar.

I think the "last minute legal problem" is more or less code for "we messed up".

I'm glad to see BioWare reaching out to the rest of the world, but the general reaction here pisses me off. BioWare was doing this as an extra fan-service thing, they had no responsibility or pressure to do ANYTHING for us, so people should have just given them a nod of respect. They are doing something above and beyond what they need to do, or what anyone expected them to do.

I can't believe people are bashing them for this, for doing totally un-needed fan-service. They are an awesome company to be doing this at all, in any regions, so just be happy good companies like this exist (as opposed to crap companies like Activision).

This was all I wanted a apology and a acknowledgment of the rest of the community.
