i dont get this sheep thing tbh ... i bet we all wanted to believe Bioware, and were just waiting for any reason to forgive them since as we all know, the EA PR is to blame. They used good name of Bioware, the awesome Bioware community for their cheap marketing tricks ... Bioware apologized, thats absolutely fine by me ...

Just ask yourself:
Is it logical for a professional company to not have investigated any and all legal complications in the areas you are about to unleash a contest in?
Especially a professional company that relies on it's good name, like Bioware.
It seems rather, suicidal to me, especially after announcing it to the ENTIRE community.

Not that I want to drag this out, since I need some sleep, but all I ask is that people think for themselves. Nothing more.

However, for me the matter is closed.
Good fight, good night.

Dont spoil it for me :-) ... i want to believe that:
Bioware = guys that MAKE awesome games
EA = the evil guys that makes these referal links tricks, force bioware to make crappy undercooked dlc for money instead of one awesome datadisc (like Tales of the SC, Throne of Bhaal, ...)

so the question is are really the guys that makes games to blame, or the EA PR division that just happens to own Bioware brand now to use it as they wish ...

Thank you for reminding me that people simply want to believe. I didn't understand the immediate forgiveness of so many, but this makes it clear again. :wizard:

People are and do think for themselves..its up to you to process that..and accept that fact..nighty night ..don't let the bedbugs bite. :P

No, people are gullible. Hence the sheep reference.
Very few here have questioned wether or not they told the truth, they just accepted the apology.
(Still referring to the original apology, not Chris's)

Now, like someone else said, if they simply tell the truth and apologise. No harm no foul.
But last minute legal complications in something you've been preparing probably for months?
I do not believe that a company like Bioware or EA for that matter would be that careless.

Apology accepted BW. Caution and patience is advised for future promos though.

Edit : Oh and btw, you should find some better excuses for these announcements. No sensible person is going to buy that you run into legal problems, at the last moment. Not for a contest that was supposedly intended to be a global one.

heh thy trow a bone and people get all nice apologetic and warm inside; as i said; the whole EA Bioware policy is b large communitys fault
What other possible answer did you expect? thy KNEW this move gonna ****** half the globe and its a lame PR stunt yet thy did go through with it, as a loyal EA pup would
Thy did misslead people with a global "epic event" counter
But hey there gonna be some goodies for the non community too in the future so its alright, people should be glad that thy did do at least something...right

A very long road from the Baldurs Gate makers to this indeed...

I did my share bringing this "event" to several  gamer pages attention hopefully people will think twice now supporting EA in the moves like those

Those guys are in charge of some of my favorite games.  I'm American, so it's easy to say.  I hope international players get their own event as long as they keep making kick ass games.

Thanks for the apology. I'll take it at face value this time. You deserve that much for the hours of great entertainment you've brought me and many others over the years.

I really hope that you learn a key lesson from this, which is to be OPEN at all times with what you are doing. Communication is the key to keeping any relationship healthy, and people will tend to cut you a lot more slack if you explain to them WHY you are doing things. This apology should at the least have come hand in hand with the original announcement, or better yet before the countdown terminated.

People are skittish about the ramifications of the EA takeover at the moment so one would've thought that at you'd've paid more attention to ensuring good PR in these times. Please learn from your mistakes!

Well, thank you for the reply, it was all blown a bit out of proportion (after all, it was just a number ticking away), but still not handled as well as it could have been.

Luckily that stops with this.

Happy 15th anniversary guys, keep up the good work!

Thanks for the message. I will let it go this time, but considering the size of EA and the fact that they have done things close to this before (Events, that is)...the reason doesnt stick.

Better excuse next time, or at least think it up faster ;)

They messed up, they apologised. Good enough for me this time :) I'm pretty sure Bioware and the Bioware/EA marketing guys will remember this in the future, and if they don't, plenty of fans will remember it for them.

And I'm not going to doubt the last minute complications thing, I'm not in global marketing but I do know what kind of "surprises" a big organisation can run into. I've seen big organisations (or parts thereof) being caught with their pants down without them seeing it coming, even though from the outside it seemed to be "so very obvious". Never underestimate the power of bureaucracy and inter-departmental pissing contests.

I still wanna know why bioware even let people outside of america have their own token page, Im in the UK and if I cant participate why give me tokens for a competition I cant enter, there pretty much useless too as we might be getting different competitions later. I just wanna know if when the competitions are release to the rest of biowares loyal PAYING fans, the only prize I was even considering going for was the White Dragon Age PC, Id like to know if that will be appearing in other comps later on

That's fair enough - an unfortunate situation, but the apology is appreciated and accepted. I still raise an Udina style fist at EA though.

I kind of like my sig though so i'll keep hold of it for a while yet!

I am half relieved now, I knew that there could have been legal problems but that is certainly BioWare's representatives that took part in thecreation of this event's fault, you should get informed first!

That's why I'm half relieved.. I just hope they won't crack up when they'll extend it to Europe leaving Italy off it, since it already happened many times in the past, from other contests.
