My real issue is that the apology despite saying it is sincere wreaked of insincerity. It was typical form damage control...and let's blame the laws for our mistake. No real responsibility was taken. And no company as big as EA and Bioware to a lesser extent would not know there are different laws and rules for contests. There was ample opportunity to remove the timer and inform the community of the mistake and avoid this mess in the first place.Feraele wrote...

Oh, rest assured, when Bioware does something good, EA gets something much more valuable and tangeable than praise.AngryFrozenWater wrote...
I don't believe in that. That's an excuse. If BioWare does something positive then it is praised and if they screw up then EA is blamed. For all intents and purposes BioWare is EA.exxxed wrote...
Hm, EA screws up and BioWare apologies...
Typical...
They get MONEY. Do you honestly think they even want anything else?
Back to the topic at hand...
Money makes the world go 'round..specially if it happens to be business. So for money and business reasons...we were offered an apology and a promise to right things sometime this year.
Other than that...what else can we expect really?
Your PR department thinks up something that will mollify the customer..and its business as usual.
As I stated before..I am happy they were willing to offer the apology etc..now lets see what comes next. If it turns out they were talking thru their left ear..then I guess we'll have something to "chew" on.
Currently we don't, however...at least in my view.
Personally I don't know if it "reeks" of insincerity...just the same as someone being sarcastic in text is sometimes hard to pick up on..unless you have the little emoticons front and center with it.
It was damage control to be sure, and what business in their right mind, wouldn't put damage control into action when a huge hullaballoo breaks out about something they did.
Whether it was it was an accident oops. or whether they had to enlarge their business/advertising plan...we don't have a clue, we don't have anyone behind the scenes that can tell us what the truth is.
So all we have is speculation.
Its possible we were "fed a load"....but then again its possible we weren't ...we don't know for certain.
I'm not going to worry about it...after all its a game I purchased, not a life event.
Apology offered...apology accepted..in my case. "just...don't...ever...do ...that ...again" *smile*

Perhaps people should look into their own countries attrocities from the past before mentioning other's....
Yes every country has commited attrocities against others, no one is immune to it. In the same token all races from all countries have been slaves to another, and en-slaved others. The big question is if we are so smart as a species why do we since 1st recorded history repeat the same mistakes.

Because we ..as a species don't learn from our mistakes..and...history tends to get altered over time.

All I meant by insincere....is that when an apology is offered without taking real resposibility it is insincere. Ie. I am sorry but it is their fault for ---insert reason here---. In this case, they blamed their legal department. Shifting blame is never an acceptable apology in my opinion. Obviously I am still here and will continue to support BioWare because they have a great product. But their PR sucks in this case and I will not be easily appeased by contrived apologies. That being said I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they will make it up tho the rest of the community. And if they don't.....then I will reevaluate my support.Feraele wrote...

You commited the first cardinal sin of being human there Shadow, I don't think humans are very smart at all...and thus lies the answer to your question

The person I was responding to mentioned casually using the word fascist, so I responded to that. I also stated that other areas (the context) may have been in poor taste (since everyone has different tastes).addiction21 wrote...

@ Varenus Luckmann: Dude, Don't you think your sig and avatar aren't a little offensive to a lot of people?
I WILL report you because your sig is very offensive to me! What the hell were you thinking! Do you even know what the ****'s have done 70 years ago? That's not something to make fun of! To casually use the word 'fascist' shows how little you know about history, or you have a very poor sense of humour.
Dude, you can use the word fascist. It's a term describing a political system. It's not a curse word.
It may have been poor taste in some areas, but still I do not see the need to ban him. A warning would have sufficed.
THe word itself is fine but instead of cherry picking it out, now put it in context or those sig bars it is used in and his avatar. Comparing a regim that murdered millions and was the cause of the horrors and deaths to a video game company is nothing but a pathetic attention grab and it is insulting to those that lost their lives and those related to those people.
And why get upset when someone compares a videogame company to anything. You KNOW it's not reality. If you'd all just ignored that particular part, the moderators would have handled it eventually. That's what they are paid for.
As for attention grabbing, that is the pot calling the kettle black, because most people who claim to be offended by such things are doing the exact same thing.
Few here have actually witnessed those awful events.

should I go buttrage all over a few words because of what happened 70 years ago in China? If everyone was retarded like that, there would never be any peace or understanding
Why should fascism always come with a negative connotation to it because of what some fascists did 70 years ago?
The retarded thing..is that it happens in the first place. That "some" figure they can play God and wipe out whole populations of people that don't fit their imagery of "perfect".
I count myself lucky that I didn't live in those days, and didn't have to feel the persecution they did.
I have empathy and sadness for the ones that did.
I think that people who need to flaunt these images etc in..game board sigs or elsewhere...are some sort of inconsiderate...and selfish to boot. Its a form of disrespect...for those that died.
Not necessarily, people use humor to get a handle on things. It's been done since the beginning of human history. (And yes, I was there
It may not be your humor, or mine, but still, to each his own (to a degree).
I think people get too worked up over things these days, and neglect the real issues. Like lies given by a corporate individual leader.

I am not willing to spend money in some sort of class-action suit..or even to carry it that far...hehe
So I am "mollified" by an apology...at least the gesture was made. They "could" have ignored us altogether...and that was what I was expecting.
It happened...they say they will rectify it for the rest of us...good enough for me, I'll take them at their word....THIS TIME.

Don't count yourself too lucky. We still live in those days. Watch the news once in a while.
Says mr superiority complex....
This was just uncalled for. He's merely pointing out that we also live in troubled times. It has nothing to do with superiority. You seem to act it toward him though.

What you can do is start to think first before falling on your hands and knees because an insincere and standard apology is given.
Truth is victim here, as are the loyal fans and consumers. Yet most do not see it.

There's a long history here...that I don't think you should get involved in..or rehash quite frankly.........it has everything to do with his self thoughts of superiority.
He was intimating..that somehow I live in a closet and don't know what news is available....or that I just don't know.
Anyway enough about that...its off-topic..and I already..stopped talking about this before.......

Look, I get it, it's easier to just "kiss and make-up". (Referring to
accepting the first apology) But things that are real, things that
matter are never easy.
I believe that the loyal fans and consumers
deserve more from this company that was once held in high regard.
If you are held in high regard, you must live up to it.
