I don't believe in that. That's an excuse. If BioWare does something positive then it is praised and if they screw up then EA is blamed. For all intents and purposes BioWare is EA.

Oh, rest assured,  when Bioware does something good, EA  gets something much more valuable and tangeable than praise.

They get  MONEY.  Do you honestly think  they even want anything else?

Back to the topic at hand...

Money makes the world go 'round..specially if it happens to be business.   So for money and business reasons...we were offered an apology and a promise to right things sometime this year. 

Other than that...what else can we expect really?

Your PR department thinks up something that will mollify the customer..and its business as usual.

As I stated before..I am happy they were willing to offer the apology etc..now lets see what comes next.    If it turns out they were talking thru their left ear..then I guess we'll have something to "chew" on.

Currently we don't, however...at least in my view.

My real issue is that the apology despite saying it is sincere wreaked of insincerity.  It was typical form damage control...and let's blame the laws for our mistake.  No real responsibility was taken.  And no company as big as EA and Bioware to a lesser extent would not know there are different laws and rules for contests.  There was ample opportunity to remove the timer and inform the community of the mistake and avoid this mess in the first place.

Personally I don't know if it "reeks" of insincerity...just the same as someone being sarcastic in text is sometimes hard to pick up on..unless you have the little emoticons front and center with it.

It was damage control to be sure, and what business in their right mind, wouldn't put damage control into action when a huge hullaballoo breaks out about something they did. 

Whether it was it was an accident oops. or whether they had to enlarge their business/advertising plan...we don't have a clue, we don't have anyone behind the scenes that can tell us what the truth is.

So all we have is speculation.

Its possible we were "fed a load"....but then again its possible we weren't ...we don't know for certain.
I'm not going to worry about it...after all its a game I purchased,  not a life event.

Apology offered...apology accepted..in my case.   "just...don't...ever...do ...that ...again"     *smile*

Yes every country has commited attrocities against others, no one is immune to it. In the same token all races from all countries have been slaves to another, and en-slaved others. The big question is  if we are so smart as a species why do we since 1st recorded history repeat the same mistakes.

All I meant by insincere....is that when an apology is offered without taking real resposibility it is insincere.  Ie.  I am sorry but it is their fault for ---insert reason here---.  In this case, they blamed their legal department.  Shifting blame is never an acceptable apology in my opinion.  Obviously I am still here and will continue to support BioWare because they have a great product.  But their PR sucks in this case and I will not be easily appeased by contrived apologies.  That being said I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they will make it up tho the rest of the community.  And if they don't.....then I will reevaluate my support.

Indeed thats pretty much what we are left with here.....and I agree that ..maybe the PR department needs some coaching.....of some sort hehehee

Dude, you can use the word fascist. It's a term describing a political system. It's not a curse word.

The person I was responding to mentioned casually using the word fascist, so I responded to that. I also stated that other areas (the context) may have been in poor taste (since everyone has different tastes).
And why get upset when someone compares a videogame company to anything. You KNOW it's not reality. If you'd all just ignored that particular part, the moderators would have handled it eventually. That's what they are paid for.
As for attention grabbing, that is the pot calling the kettle black, because most people who claim to be offended by such things are doing the exact same thing.
Few here have actually witnessed those awful events.

Moderators are volunteers..they don't get paid. Occasionally the devs come by and post something..but thats different.

The retarded thing..is that it happens in the first place.   That "some" figure they can play God and wipe out whole populations of people that don't fit their imagery of "perfect".

I count myself lucky that I didn't live in those days, and didn't have to feel the persecution they did.

I have empathy and sadness for the ones that did.   

I think that people who need to flaunt these images etc in..game board sigs or elsewhere...are some sort of inconsiderate...and selfish to boot.   Its a form of disrespect...for those that died.

Not necessarily, people use humor to get a handle on things. It's been done since the beginning of human history. (And yes, I was there )
It may not be your humor, or mine, but still, to each his own (to a degree).

Look, I get it, it's easier to just "kiss and make-up". (Referring to
accepting the first apology) But things that are real, things that
matter are never easy.
I believe that the loyal fans and consumers
deserve more from this company that was once held in high regard.
If you are held in high regard, you must live up to it.
