I just had a laugh..peeked over at the Escapist site, and there's a small headline about the count-down fiasco we experienced. hehe

0. We in Europe were humiliated several times already by release dates. Without any apologies.
1. `US-only` is specified only in content rules and I'm 100% sure half of the users will miss it. You'll get a lot of ranting later on - there is big bunch of non-US people earning points now, I'm sure.
2. The worst part - you added tokens to all accounts. It looks as awful as possible.
This apology is more than I expected, but it's not enough. I'm not advertising Bioware games among my friends for some time already, but now I'm going to tell them NOT to buy anything from Bioware. I value my friends and don't like them to be treated as third class customers from third world countries.
Hate you, Bioware. Try to do something. Do something. Convert all points to Bioware points, award us with some nice non-US-only addons, whatever, so we will see you don't lick asses of silly americans.

Yeah it was fun...I see you kept the banner as I did. It was kind of cool to see where everyone was from. Oh well, it showed that we are a community inspite of the fact most times are spent arguing.Gabey5 wrote...

I still feel disappointed, that apology is a bit of too little, too late.
What apology?

That apology was posted approximately a day after the big ruckus broke out, so..pretty timely ..considering. As for another poster's question..re: who that apology was for, it was for the rest of the world that was disincluded in the current contest, other than the 48 states ..who were included.

takes only a few lines of dubious apology to shift you back to cheering a company ?

No..it takes a bit of sincerity..and some benefit of the doubt...what do you want to do, go raid their offices, steal their first-born children...or get your pound of flesh?
Personally I don't think I am going to go that far over a mistake...everyone makes them, everyone has feet of clay.
And...its a game after all.

Yeah gotta admit, "Last minute legal complications" for a company as well versed as EA sounds like a load of bull to me. Exactly how do you set something up, iron out the details, obtain the necessary permits, licenses, authorizations, ect. needed to operate the competition and suddenly run into last minute complications that is beyond a point where you can make the necessary changes. I mean did you folks appoint the coffee boy to run the show here or something? Professionals don't run into "last minute legal complications", say screw it and do nothing to correct the problems. I mean at the very least Chris could have made an apology and given this same explanation in the initial announcement if you truly were in a no turning back situation.
Chris DID apologize...did you see that?

Hi everyone -
The BioWare Bazaar was launched this week as the start of a year-long celebration around BioWare’s 15th anniversary.
We recognize that BioWare has a global community, and the Bazaar this week was originally intended to be an international event to reflect our truly global fanbase. Unfortunately, we encountered some last-minute legal complications around how contests can be structured in different parts of the world that prevented us from including all territories in this first event, even though that was our original goal. And for that, we sincerely apologize – our goal with this sort of celebration is to show all our fans worldwide how much we appreciate your support!
BioWare definitely really values all members of our world-wide Community, no matter where you live. Accordingly, in the coming weeks, we will be announcing details about future events specifically for fans living in those territories which were excluded from participating in the first BioWare Bazaar. The future events will be a bit different from the first Bazaar in how they’re set up and structured, but our goal is to feature the same caliber of awesome prizes and great BioWare collectibles. We’ll announce more details in the coming weeks
The reception from those fans who have been able to take part in this first event has been incredible – thank you for participating! - and we’re looking forward to future events where we can enable fans from additional territories to also join in the fun.
Thank you all for your continued and ongoing support and participation in the BioWare Community – we really appreciate all your support over the past 15 years, and the future will be even brighter!
Sincerely,
Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk
Co-founders, BioWare
Meh. Still doesn't explain the EPIC COUNTDOWN used to introduce a viral marketing scam. To those who keep claiming that "Bioware didn't have to do any of this for us" or some variation thereof - this "event" is not Bioware doing something for the community. It is the community helping BEAware with advertising and marketing, and the overwhelming majority of participants are not being compensated for their time and effort.
If they truly wanted to thank the community for the support and money they've received over the years, the best way to do so IMHO is to provide high quality games and ensure that those games are bug-free prior to release. If they wish to engage in viral marketing, then they should allow ALL participants to use their tokens to "purchase" some simple DLC for various games. This whole event has cast a bitter pall over Bioware for me, I really dislike being treated as some sort of hapless rube to be fleeced of time and money.
That being said, I hope that everyone who participates in any of these events does have fun and feels that they've received fair value for the time they spend on participation.

So expecting bug-free in any game..straight out of the gate, is being a tad unrealistic..given the multiple variations of pcs or other available platforms, plus whatever that gamer does or doesn't do with their computer or other platform......some of it is user fault. Thats just how it is.
Some of it isn't.
C'est la vie..

Actions speak louder then words.
So I'll wait for the exclusive "rest of the world", non-US events of similar scope before I believe the "sincerity" of a written post after people complain and not coming when they ran into these "last minute complications".

Not in the inital annoucement, I believe he came in with a quick apology after hell was unleashed. At least that's what my memory recalls, if he did indeed apologize in the inital announcement (A quick look at it though says he did not), than I apologize and retract that last bit in my comment.
