Hi everyone -

The BioWare Bazaar was launched this week as the start of a year-long celebration around BioWare’s 15th anniversary.

We recognize that BioWare has a global community, and the Bazaar this week was originally intended to be an international event to reflect our truly global fanbase. Unfortunately, we encountered some last-minute legal complications around how contests can be structured in different parts of the world that prevented us from including all territories in this first event, even though that was our original goal.  And for that, we sincerely apologize – our goal with this sort of celebration is to show all our fans worldwide how much we appreciate your support!

BioWare definitely really values all members of our world-wide Community, no matter where you live.  Accordingly, in the coming weeks, we will be announcing details about future events specifically for fans living in those territories which were excluded from participating in the first BioWare Bazaar.  The future events will be a bit different from the first Bazaar in how they’re set up and structured, but our goal is to feature the same caliber of awesome prizes and great BioWare collectibles.  We’ll announce more details in the coming weeks :)

The reception from those fans who have been able to take part in this first event has been incredible – thank you for participating! - and we’re looking forward to future events where we can enable fans from additional territories to also join in the fun.

Thank you all for your continued and ongoing support and participation in the BioWare Community – we really appreciate all your support over the past 15 years, and the future will be even brighter!

Sincerely,

Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk

Would properly interfeer with the people, who can participate, complaining about how others got more tokens than them.

I, for one, am happy we got a response from Bioware. Thanks Ray!

My anger has lessened somewhat, but I won't believe it for a second untill I see what these "future plans" are for sure. I sure as hell won't be happy if it's revealed everyone else can join the party when Bioware celebrate their 20th birthday...

Anyway, looking forward to these announcements to see what they bring. And I'll pray to the Maker it won't be another kick in the balls.

The "apology" was simply PR, damage control for a botched event, very scripted and hollow as far as I'm concerned, the amazing part is how many people simply bought right away, no questions. After waiting for them to actually fix this game for six months with only a few "we're looking into it" posts in all that time I have no reason to believe that what they say is anything more than PR. If they really wanted to do something for us it should've been to FIX THE GAME. This game would be great with some actual fixes, but they seem content to spend their time on marketing schemes and PR rather than actually giving us something useful. I see a sad pattern emerging and if it keeps up Bioware will simply become EA's latest victim....

The people who got left out shouldn't feel too angry. Even the people in the allowed territories couldn't participate. This "community celebration" has become little more than a viral marketing scheme and a spammer rewards club. The only way to even get in the ballpark to participate is to spam the hell out of these referral links. The auction forums are little more than a "click me, please!" fest.

When a simple book set is going for 9k tokens, and you can only get roughly 6k tokens before spam, the system is broken. The whole thing is horribly disappointing and as a longtime Bioware fanboy, I'm shocked and dismayed that the company would condone such a ridiculous event. A community celebration? Hardly.

I'm surprised their Alexa rank has jumped after all this, but I guess I don't know how Alexa works necessarily. Still, seems like all this link pimping shouldn't have hurt them. Anyway, this has grown the community, so it probably isn't the worst thing ever.

If by growing the community, you mean turned everyone into mindless spam-bots, then yes - I agree - they've done a wonderful job.

Bah racked up almost 8k points (and legitimately too! no link ip messing but good ol' twitter wins!) before I noticed this. I look forward to the UK one and will be keeping a sharp eye on the forums!

If they spent even half the money they do on useless PR and marketing schemes on actually fixing the game there wouldn't be a problem. The fact remains that they simply don't care about fixing the game only about free publicity and squeezing every cent they can from us. Sadly I only see things continuing to go downhill from here, Bioware will become EA's latest victim and then get dumped when their name means nothing anymore to gamers.

Such a shame: I could've actually won some stuff with the amount of points I have...

Am looking forward to the planned future events, though.

Not really the point, I think the issue is that the large majority of Biowares fans were excluded from this competition after a week of hype buildup and were catagoricaly promised redress.

The way I see it is that Bioware crapped on its non U/S (and ny/floridians) from a great height by excluding them from the "community". Then realising this was a poor idea from a PR standpoint trotted out a bullshot statement from "ray and greg" to difuse the anger, knowing that they wouldn't need to back up there words as it would all blow over.

Especially when everyone realised that the Bazaar was one of the least socially acceptable competitions it could have run, basically turning those fans who could compete into glorified spam bots.

So, anyone else want to join me with the "I used to be part of the community but...." signatures, I know most people removed them after the "apology" but I feel its still fitting to wear them.
