So despite the fact both you and EA are Canadian companies you can't be
bothered to offer it to Canadians. Your all retarded.

I'm still keeping my sigs. Penguins are cool.

But, I'm hoping the event/contest/whatever for those of us not included in this one isn't done through FB and Twitter. Seems more like a popularity contest then an an actual...um, contest.

Much ill-will could have been avoided had this apology been issued MUCH sooner, but it's better late than never and very welcome.  Thank you.

Now how about a progress report on the Mac version of Awakening?  Or are we Mac users going to be left hanging much as those out of the chosen 48 were?

First of all, thanks for the apology.

Secondly: Great to hear that there are more plans to celebrate and this time include most / all of the community. But experience tells me that I should resevere most of the praise until we actually see what is in store ...

BUT: Sorry, Bioware/EA are "global" players ... how often can you play the "last minute legal issues card"? Maybe I'm being unfair and distrustful but that's not something I'm buying completely - a good marketing / legal department is prepared for something like that.

...the Bazaar this week was originally intended to be an international event to reflect our truly global fanbase. Unfortunately, we encountered some last-minute legal complications around how contests can be structured in different parts of the world that prevented us from including all territories in this first event, even though that was our original goal.

I find myself sceptical that you only realised at the last minute that it was going to be US-only,  despite the necessary advance planning and then a week's worth of marketing via the counter.

Having said that, it doesn't really matter to me what the reasons were. Because the fact that you care enough to post such a response is more than good enough for me. You've restored a lot of my faith in the company, and (though some would no doubt criticise me for failing to learn my lesson) I look forward to seeing what you have planned for the future.

Again, many thanks for taking the time to respond to the concerns of your fans.

EA isn't Canadian.   They are based in California (one of their offices..they're a big company..international)

I do believe they are going to offer to EVERYONE that was left out for this first contest.

This is a very good thing! I would say that I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier, but I understand that these business things take a long time.

Many thanks for this clarification!

:wizard:

I do feel though that using a 6 day counter for a birthday contest created expectations disproportionate (is that even spelled correctly?) to the announcement made.
Would be nice to reserve ticking clocks for big game revelations in the future (Jade Empire 2!!! :P)

And happy birthday!

I think some of the fans owe Bioware an apology themselves.

Likely true.....

I'm glad to see BioWare reaching out to the rest of the world, but the general reaction here pisses me off. BioWare was doing this as an extra fan-service thing, they had no responsibility or pressure to do ANYTHING for us, so people should have just given them a nod of respect. They are doing something above and beyond what they need to do, or what anyone expected them to do.

I can't believe people are bashing them for this, for doing totally un-needed fan-service. They are an awesome company to be doing this at all, in any regions, so just be happy good companies like this exist (as opposed to crap companies like Activision).

Still a waste of time and money for a PR stunt for twitter fans and the like.
Fix some damn games please. Don't feel like doing 200 challenges to maybe at best win a t-shirt seeing as i have classes during the day and can't do all the challenges.
Everyone on your website isn't an idiot, child or a complete fanboy yelling yeepee biowar stuffs and maybe some ram etc. And this still doesn't explain the EPIC event? Don't drum roll up a turd.

PR and Marketting don't do bug fixes...lol

Still part of the same company.  PR would have done better than to mail the developers a $60,000 bonus to fix the bugs, that would make me buy again, fixed patchs and games.

So why should we take all of this as the truth considering past events?

I remain skeptical that it was ever intended to be global.

I agree. In their position, I would have mentioned it was going to be for U.S citizens only before they announced it. Who wouldn't? I mean why wouldn't anyone expect the reaction we all had yesterday?

Dear doctors...

This was not about being excluded from the Bazaar. For me it was about the way it was brought. We had to find out in the fine print. I cannot believe that you made the legal decisions one second before the counter reached zero.

At least it is cool that you've responded. Thanks for the message. At least we know something more.

This.

The last-minute thing is a convenient way to excuse a lack of thinking.

edit: people are sheep

Well I wasn't very distraught by being not able to enter, I was underwhelmed at the whole contest to begin with, so I was just having fun in the big topic. Good to see a reply finally though.

Corporations move rather slowly, that we got a response in a little over 24 hours is quite a fast response.

You should be satisfied.  But you'll likely just wallow in disappointment like always.

I don't care what *you* think. I have thanked these gentlemen and for me that's enough. It looks like a sincere message. What else is there to say?

It's far more important that they've listened to the fans and have commited to doing something.  We all make mistakes (deliberate or accidental), so it makes little sense to hold one over anybody's head.  Especially after they've apologized.

You guys might to want to make it more obvious though, like others said I only found out after reading through the rules. And let's face it, nobody reads the rules.

And for anyone still skeptical about the post's sincerity I'm sure they're not just discriminating based on country: New York and Florida are excluded too.

I'm surprised people are so mad about this stuff? I mean most contests exclude florida because of their legal system. This isn't the first time this has happened guys, what is this the first contest you've entered?

Edit: PS, read the rules of the contests you enter people, 99% of the time Florida and NY are excluded.
