I think some of the fans owe Bioware an apology themselves.
As the one planning a community effort to ask BioWare to compensate us through having us raise money for charity and also the only who incidentally caused the huge amount of pyramid spam in the ME-board topic, I hereby apologize in name of the entire community. I also accept full responsibility for whatever may have happened.
Personally I'm still not entirely content with all this, for reasons already stated by the likes of Taltherion and Maviarab, but I realize this is more than we would have gotten from any other company. For that, you have my thanks.
I'm keeping the signature, though, I'm sentimental like that.

This...I find myself sceptical that you only realised at the last minute that it was going to be US-only, despite the necessary advance planning and then a week's worth of marketing via the counter.
[Having said that, it doesn't really matter to me what the reasons were. Because the fact that you care enough to post such a response is more than good enough for me. You've restored a lot of my faith in the company, and (though some would no doubt criticise me for failing to learn my lesson) I look forward to seeing what you have planned for the future.
Damn some of you are easily pleased....your all pitch forks and torches...and then one simple, very generic, very scripted, and very hollow and empty post later which probably took ohhhhh all of 3 minutes to post....
and your all happy little campers again lmao.....jesus christ.....
I totally agree, and I'll just say this again:
The people on this board are sheep

The Doctor's admitted it was a gross oversight, and they are doing whatever they can to remedy that mistake. In point of fact fixing all of this was something they didn't even *have* to do, they could have very well said, "Oh, sorry folks, better luck next time." But, no, they've basically said they will put in extra funds and resources that they didn't have to use to make it up to those who felt Jaded over this whole Contest. It never ceases to amaze me how people can never be satisfied no matter how far others may go to make 'em happy.
Chris Rock once made a lude joke about how you could have Sex with a woman using a Diamond Penis, make her climax one hundred times, and the Woman would *Still* complain. "Why did you make me climax so hard?!" or "That Diamond Penis looks cheap!" And that whole joke, though kinda gross, works as a perfect analaogy for you frakking people. A couple of months from now, when you people who are going on and on about how you didn't get what you want acutally *get* what you want, since that was in Greg and Ray's new plan all along, I hope that if you're *Still* complaining Karma comes along and takes a huge bite out of your backside!
(Breath)
On a more positive note, I'd like to thank the Doctors and everyone at Bioware for not only the Bazaar and giving the loyal fans a great opportunity to pick up some nice Swag and others items, but for those working so hard to keep the Ball rolling on the Anniversary Celebration.
Thanks Bioware.

I'm surprised people are so mad about this stuff? I mean most contests exclude florida because of their legal system. This isn't the first time this has happened guys, what is this the first contest you've entered?
Edit: PS, read the rules of the contests you enter people, 99% of the time Florida and NY are excluded.
They could have done things better, like making sure that it was clear that this was just part 1 of the celebration and such earlier, but a response the next day on the issue and clarifying that more would be coming is still good.
And some of you just drop your pants and get the K-Y out with a stupid grin on your face.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to believe Bioware's account of how this all happened, but it seems like it's working anyway, so I can't fault them for stretching the truth a bit.

What surprises me though is that that greywardens.com site can do a mouse give-away contest for the whole world and a big company like Bioware/EA runs into 'problems' here.
EDIT: I like my sigs though, I'll keep them.

There's still bitter feelings, but the sentiment is very valid. Bioware or even EA during the planning stages would have had more then ample time and oppertunity to be or become aware that certain aspects of the contest or other nations legalities would comprimise the event. I don't see any company as large as EA or Bioware for that matter creating a social event in the intrest of it's community being poorly planned or executed. It just doesn't happen.TonyTheBossDanza123 wrote...
Why is it no matter how many times I see it I am still amazed at how quickly common sense is thrown out the window when in a mob?
I hate our species.
I think what it really boiled down to for Bioware is they spent the time, resources and genuine intrest in giving back to the community that they decided it would be better to possibly ****** people off and hope they don't over react, as opposed to stoping or halting the event altogether.

I'm with you Maviarab. Far from mollifying me, I find the claim that apparently lawyers ambushed them at the last second is insulting to our intelligence.
Sloth, thanks mate, as a member of Mensa and being very legally savy, it actually is an insult to my intelligence.
Its a cupboard love apology post in my opinion, very empty and hollow, and was done purely to appease the sheep here who are now happy little campers....some people are so easily pleased....
We all know that but there are much worse things happening at this very moment in this planet! At least we got them to asnwer, whatever it is. Best to be heard and answered than totally ignored!
Everybody deserves new chances, specially for something small. non criminal that actually bonded us all together and at least I had a lot of fun in the forum these days, far from being full of Rage!

Christ, some of you people are unbelievable. So, DESPITE the fact that Ray and Greg came out, apologized, and basically said what both myself and many others have been saying, that Bioware *will* go to great lengths to make it up to those left out of the initial Bazaar, you people are still NOT satisfied, and are still going to gripe and moan over what is, at this point, spilled Milk.

Id say the overwhelming feeling is that we accept their apology and are awaiting there next action. A few people have rightly pointed out that it is suprising for a global corporation to be caught out by "last minute legal problems"
They could have headed all of this off at the pass with an earlier apology or even a request to wait for a statement, but still it is nice to see an apology at all
But hey you got to use your chris rock joke, so well done

Hi everyone -
Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk
Co-founders, BioWare
Thanks for the post! And Happy 15th! Glad to see the fires quelled.
Everyone is all too often quick to jump, scream and complain. So few take the time to be patient and thankful.
I am thankful to be here for Bioware's 15th Birthday. Hope to celebrate many more with Bioware in the future as long as you keep delivering the high quality of games you have given us! Don't change that which isn't broken.

I'd like to say thanks for the response on this issue as well. It makes a big difference to know that Bioware acknowledges the problem and is taking action. We appreciate it!
1) the real issue was how the bazaar was communicated, not the content, so please keep that in mind for future events
True. I think most non-americans have had similar situations of not being eligible. Here, the way it was communicated was what caused the outrage.
That being said I accept the apology, and am looking forward to future events.
What I find said is that on the one hand there are people who proclaim those who except this apology and explanation to be sheep. It may be a colourful form of truth or not, I don't care, I feel I have gotten recognition, that's enough for me.
On the other hand there are those who feel the need to point out the fact that 'we were wrong to feel begrudged from the start' and that community members have already stated it had to do with legal issues. The reasoning behind it was never the issue for me, it was purely the way it has been communicated.
Now that we have gotten an explanation de we really need to start arguing about wether it is a fake gesture and a large part of this community consists of human-sheephybrids, or if a large part of this community are rioting mongrels who need to except the moral highground of other users and apologize.
